Could not be happier with choosing Bob Sullivan and his band to perform at our wedding. While our guest count was on the smaller side, we knew exactly the energy we wanted to bring with our band and opted for an eight-piece group. Karla Kelly, Matt Lamy, and Karl D'Amico performed as a three-piece band during the ceremony itself, and a rotating three-piece band performed lighter background music during our cocktail hour. We were delighted to have the full eight-piece band performing during dinner and dancing, where they brought an unquellable energy. Every one of our guests mentioned the band in their shower of compliments for our event. Bob and his band even coordinated learning four additional songs beyond their standard set lists to accommodate our requests; these were performed as seamlessly as the jazz standards and party songs they performed the rest of the night. I don't like "wedding bands". Not usually. The covers are cheesy or other nit picky things that Yelp reviewers like to complain about. Annoying right? This app is annoying. Everyone is a critic and they want to boo-hoo everything. Those people should book the Happiness Band. They played the reception for my wife and I in Redlands and made the whole evening. They were extremely professional, accommodating, friendly, and a good goddamn time. It's what everyone talks about still, 6 months later. They even let me and my old violin teacher come up and play a few songs with them on the fiddle. The singer was a nice addition and they had the right volume and style. We threw a surprise party for our Grandmother who turned 75 this past Saturday, January 9, 2016 and my husband thought it would be nice to hire a Jazz Band for the party and he was right. We've never hired a live band before so I was a bit nervous and skeptical on hiring one. Plus, I was pressed for time so the pressure was on. I wanted to hire a band that is small and who will do a great job. I did my search on google and found multiples. After a long day of viewing so many - sample/live videos of different bands - I decided to go with The Happiness Jazz Band. They were the perfect size band I was looking for. After seeing their video on youtube, I immediately contacted them. They have a singer/Pianist named Bob Pierce who I requested but unfortunately, he wasn't available that day. But, we had Marc Bosserman and he did an AMAZING job. Overall, the whole band was freaking AMAZING - BEYOND AMAZING! They totally met my expectations above and beyond. I was so nervous thinking that no one was going to appreciate the music they played, but I thought wrong. EVERYONE LOVED their performance and kept praising how great they were. We hired a DJ and The Happiness Jazz Band put the DJ to shame. They did a better job than him! After a while when the DJ was trying to redeem himself by playing some songs, Bob, who's the drummer, started drumming along with the song which gave it more pizazz to the music! They played so many classic jazz songs that were up beat and even took newer songs and put a jazzy feel to them. Amazing musicians with such nice personalities. We hired The Happiness Band for our wedding. They were absolutely amazing--stunning musicians, so versatile and so charming. Before the wedding, they were incredibly responsive. We had a three-piece group for the ceremony and cocktail hour and the full group for the dinner and reception. For the ceremony, we asked them to play an instrumental version of a particular jazz standard for the processionals and a "jazzy" version of the wedding march for the bride. We left it in their hands. It was perfect. The cocktail hour and reception were also amazing. The group let one of my super talented friends (a singer) jump in to serenade us, and they worked together flawlessly. It was so cool. We used The Happiness Band for our ceremony music and cocktail hour. Before the wedding, Bob Sullivan, the owner was very response, helpful, and friendly to work with. He helped make reccomendations for our processional and recessional music. We did the Jazz Quartet since we wanted Jazz for cocktail hour, but actually had the musicians play classical style for the ceremony, and they swapped some of the instruments. Bob was so nice and even brought an extra music stand for our officiant to use during the ceremony. The band was perfect and chose great songs for pre ceremony and during cocktail hour. The Happiness Band is fabulous in every way! I hired them for a formal dinner party I hosted, and from inception to event Bob Sullivan was responsive, supportive, accommodating, professional and FUN every step of the way. All the pre-event planning went flawlessly. I wanted to sing one number with the band, so Bob even provided me the name of a voice teacher, a rehearsal track to practice with ahead of time, and he quieted my nerves by cheering me on. Down the line I wanted to add a couple more guys to the band than we had previously discussed, and he was able to do that for me no problem. The band arrived at the venue early for set-up looking mighty dapper. My guests had a blast dancing to the standard jazz tunes played by these talented guys (great big sound, especially for the size of the band), and getting folks out on the dance floor was easy! "Snaking" our human dance train around the room (led by the most excellent trombonist) while they blared "When The Saints Go Marching In" was a true highlight. The Happiness Band is very appropriately named because they brought great happiness to my husband and me for our wedding day. The two of us wanted to perform a song together in lieu of our first dance as well as a couple other customizations, and Bob Sullivan and the musicians were very accommodating. We arranged to have a rehearsal beforehand at Bob's studio in Glendale, where we practiced our songs and the musicians also laid down a practice backing track for the song my brother planned to sing since he lives far away and couldn't make the rehearsal. When the day came, the band performed ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner music, as well as our custom performances and music for the dance portion. All the musicians were excellent and Bob Sullivan the bandleader is so warm and kind and encouraged us to perform more songs for our guests after reading the audience.
