Not only that, the staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to asking questions about products, and often they have a personal anecdote and recommendation about what they do for their own pets. I've got a decent number of pets - two Bengal cats, a fairly young puppy, and a turtle named Neil. As you would imagine, I spend a bit of cash when it comes to looking after them all. Since Petstock opened in Vermont South, they've saved me a small fortune - as much as 25% on some items, and that's not on sale either. And thanks to them, Neil gets a steady stream of feeder fish instead of (or sometimes in addition to) those horrible frozen fish pellets. Neil likes the fish so much that he's adopted two of them, and one of those is now nearly big enough to need his own tank. If you're a breeder of domestic pets (my wife and I used to breed Bengals), they stock super large bags (like 15-25kg) of cat and dog food, and if they don't have it, they're happy to order it in. They also offer services like puppy school, and they have a good rewards program for loyal customers.

It has taken about five different types of dry dog food before she's found one that she likes. That would normally be a massively expensive exercise, considering I'm buying the good stuff. But Petstock Vermont South has been extremely helpful. All I need to do is return the opened package and they'll exchange it without cost to me (except when there's a price differential). There is a doggy cafe and a human cafe, order your pooch a doggychino and yourself a latte, head outside to the multiple different sitting options and admire all the other pooches. They have like gated sections for you to sit in and let your four legged friend off the lead while they wait in anticipation for the goods. The solution was to yell at him. Following this, he understandably continued to bark and so his face was held firmly so he could be directly yelled out. Then a hand was put into his mouth to try further to stop him barking. Interesting psychology to calm a scared puppy!!! Understandably we left without having his hair cut.

When I picked up my dog an hour later after clipping there was no explanation or apology. They happily charged me $65 and let me have the dry doggie treat I chose for free (20c). I've been there a few times but they never remember my name or My dog. I can tell they are not really pet lovers at all, but just see every customer like a walking wallet. The best pet store owner sold her business Pet Station years ago. I wish she'd come back because nobody genuinely cares about animals the way she did.

I love how there's a wide variety of tastes so I can keep my picky dog interested.

Amazing Amazon is a very special pet store. It isn't the sort of place where you go and buy…read moreyourself dozen dog biscuits and a tin of Pal. It's something much, much cooler than that. This shop specialises in reptiles, birds and aquariums. You want a bird-eating spider? Amazing Amazon is the first place you go. Got a fussy turtle? This shop will sort you out. Want a pet python to freak out your parents when they turn up and want to stay for a week? Check this place out. The service is really good. The guys that I have spoken to there really know about the stuff they sell. I've spent literally hours in there, watching the fish, turtles and stingrays moving around the enormous tanks they have in the showroom. Seriously, you will want to build a giant aquarium in your house after one visit. The products that they sell are priced pretty much what they are elsewhere, but the aquariums seem to be quite reasonable. I stop and have a look every time I can.

My cat hates the vet. She turns into a vicious little monster every time the word vet is even…read morementioned. So having to actually take her into one is a momentous task. The last time I took her to the vet she ended up clawing the back of the vet, and trying to swing from the 2 meter high window sill. I took her into Glenvale vet, in Glen Waverley, ready for a war. We waited less than ten minutes, which was a good start. When we were called in, the vet was lovely. She was very gentle and friendly towards my cat, and my cat really responded to that. I was shocked when she proceeded to purr and rub herself up against the vet. I have never seen her behave so relaxed in the company of a vet. She was even more than happy to allow the vet to take her temp. My cat ended up needed a course of antibiotics, and I took her back in for a follow up and was not charged for the second consult. I thought that was fantastic. It is expensive enough to care for animals without the added cost of expensive vet trips. Even now I live a good distance away from this vet, but it's worth me traveling there when my cat needs attention because I know she feels comfortable there.
