When I picked up my dog an hour later after clipping there was no explanation or apology. They happily charged me $65 and let me have the dry doggie treat I chose for free (20c). I've been there a few times but they never remember my name or My dog. I can tell they are not really pet lovers at all, but just see every customer like a walking wallet. The best pet store owner sold her business Pet Station years ago. I wish she'd come back because nobody genuinely cares about animals the way she did.

After looking at the website, in which they have set up 'facebook like' pages for each of the dogs up for adoption, we had decided on a dog to save, and went to meet it in person. They have lovely staff here, and its clear they love all the animals that come through. We met a heap of dogs, and as hard as it is to decide, we chose a dog that we thought we'd like to have some 'one on one" time with. Here the staff let you take the dog for a short walk around and you get to say hello without the fence in the way. It was then that we found out how things work. We weren't allowed to meet the dog, as it had 3 people who had put it "on hold" over the Internet. It seems people shop for animals online now, and you can 'hold' a dog until you get the time to come and meet it, rendering anyone else who is keen out of the running to adopt it. Although I definitely recommend adopting over buying a dog from a store, I suggest you get online and 'hold' any dog you like the look of before heading to the Animal Aid and avoid disappointment.

Claws'N'Paws is such a great little pet shop, I hardly know where to begin…read more We went in one day to browse, buy some litter and food, and spotted an adult male for adoption by Animal Aid. What I love about this pet shop, is after a nice chat with the manager, we learned he refuses to display kittens or backyard breeder cats "for sale" and rather, helps Animal Aid with adult cat rescue adoptees that need forever homes. After meeting with little Dante, we adopted him and he has been the sweetest cat. They welcome dogs on leashes into their stores, cater to dogs, cats, birds and fish. They offer grooming and classes. They also offer some really good loyalty rewards for repeat business and you can tell they're passionate about pets and pet care. They have several business and pet industry awards and it shows. Another chain pet store has opened up across the street, so I hope that doesn't hurt Claws'N'Paws' business. If you're in the area, please go visit them!

The shop does have a lot of gorgeous little pups who break your heart when you are forced to look at them for the last time before leaving. If they didn't cost so much I worry about how many I could have bought... Apart from the gorgeous pups the store stocks all things for dogs. There is food, collars, leads, and of course, toys. The infamous Kong toys have a big section on the wall and there are great ones suited to dogs of all sizes and temperaments. My dog tends to rip through most of his toys in minutes but he has never beaten a Kong toy. Granted they are massive and made from thick rubber, but it is still impressive. They do cost more than the average toy however and you'll be looking at around $15-$30 for one. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. She could tell I wasn't in to buy a puppy so she left me to have fun looking at the puppies and checking out the toys. The shop is clean, there is a heap of stock and heaps of puppies around to show you their best puppy-dog-eyes expressions. It's really fun.

I was assured they weren't, and they seemed to genuinely care about animal welfare, talking to another customer and telling them they should really wash their hands before touching one dog and going to another. The dogs all seemed well cared for and had been microchipped, fully vaccinated and guaranteed vet cover for 2 weeks after adoption, which I thought was really good. The only thing I didn't like was when I asked about my puppy's parents I was given a photo printed out on a piece of paper of just ONE of the parents, and no details. Still a little iffy about the place, but I got a beautiful new addition to my family and they were friendly and helpful enough.

The customer service was absolutely sensational, the lady behind the counter explaining everything to us and going through all the different doggy treat options. There is a doggy cafe and a human cafe, order your pooch a doggychino and yourself a latte, head outside to the multiple different sitting options and admire all the other pooches. They have like gated sections for you to sit in and let your four legged friend off the lead while they wait in anticipation for the goods. Thor was treated to a turkey and cranberry doggycake and a doggychino, both which he loved and kept looking at me like mum am I really allowed to keep eating all this!

Unacceptable! It was…read moremy dog's first groom / hair cut. I had mentioned that he didn't like the hair dryer. After he was washed and they started trying to dry him, he started barking. The solution was to yell at him. Following this, he understandably continued to bark and so his face was held firmly so he could be directly yelled out. Then a hand was put into his mouth to try further to stop him barking. Interesting psychology to calm a scared puppy!!! Understandably we left without having his hair cut.
