The manager was not very helpful. This place has been better in the past, but is definitely declining.

We attended a family wedding in Portsmouth. Several relatives were also at the hotel. My husband and I flew in from Orlando, FL on 7/10 and checked out on Sunday 7/13. We complained about the condition of the first room they tried to put us in. The bed was VERY WET in the middle - as if the bed linens did not dry in the dryer. We were moved to another room. The front desk people claimed it was because of the proximity to the river. I disagree. Things did not improve from there. The second room was damp and unclean. At one point I had a small accidental spill of a clear liquid at the counter by the bathroom so I took a washcloth to clean it up. I sent the hotel photos of that nasty washrag so they could see for themselves but cant seem to attach to my yelp review. Suffice to say it was FILTHY!!! I believe the room would have smelled better and the floor might have been less sticky etc if the floor had been washed properly. There is no excuse for this. We made the best of a bad situation. What was once a very nice hotel has gone to disrepair and crappy housekeeping. Personally I will never stay at that hotel again and look forward to the LaQuinta opening across the street.
