Pat, Una, and their staff were wonderful. We were fortunate to be there during the euros, so I was able to take in the matches (my wife was less enthusiastic about this part). If you want to experience the Irish Midlands this is the place to go; both my wife and I travel and we try and avoid the touristy areas, preferring instead to spend our time meeting new people, and this trip provided that. Being American, I seldom get to have a good talk about football, but Pat was happy to oblige here. He's also made sure that every time I see Archie Gray take the pitch I will think of Weirs.

We just happened to walk near the Route 66 diner. Since diner food is almost always a good option for us, we stopped to check out the posted menu. As we were reviewing options, the owner happened to be outside. We had some great conversation with her, and she provided fantastic information about the area. They weren't overly friendly but were helpful and hospitable. The drinks they offered weren't "fru fru" enough for me lol.
