Creative Beginnings is truly the best preschool you can ask for, and specifically with my neurodivergent son, he has progressed and accomplished so much in thanks to the hard work of his teachers and the director. His life would honestly not be the same if he hadn't attended this school for the last 3 years. In fact, his private speech therapist told me that this is the best school she's ever been to. Aside from the accommodations and support they provided my son, I'm amazed at how much our tuition gave us: kung fu, soccer, music teachers visited on a weekly basis, a low student teacher ratio, field trips, and so much more. I think the mix of structure (weekly lesson plans for each class) and free play is perfect for kids as well. I also want to note that the teacher turnover is very low, and most of the main teachers have been there for many many years. In addition to just being a warm, welcoming place, my son also thrived academically here. His school district assessment showed that he is on track academically for kindergarten, thanks to the hard work of his teachers.

This is place is really like a big loving family. My son is always happy at MLW and doesn't want to leave when I pick him up. Lupe would host a birthday party for each child and prepare gift. For each major holidays, they organize celebration. My second child is going to MLW soon. They also do a good job in mixing the younger children with the older one's during class at times and lunch, just to give kids opportunity to work on social interaction. Incredible instruction, thoughtfully organized, and a real gem of a school! We will be sending our other children here, but I still want to write a review of my experience about 6 months in. A C A D E M I C S We were looking for a place that centralized academics in their activities, but in a fun, age-appropriate, low-pressure way. I am pleased with the way Learning Pathways not only covers advanced topics for preschool age, but always maintains a fun and low-stress attitude for the children. Additionally, we are really pleased with the breadth of topics: our child has learned about gravity, reptiles, famous artists, acclaimed musicians, and various cultures (Black History Month, Diwali, etc). This is all on top of the critical English and math, of course. Moreover, we appreciate the 3 assessments Learning Pathways administers to each child throughout the school year (September, December, and one at the end of the year). The assessment shows us exactly what our child knows, is learning, and can learn. We also see concrete improvement in specific areas between her first and second assessment, too! O T H E R S U B J E C T S While academics are important to us, we also really appreciate the educational enrichment. Our daughter is consistently exposured to art and music, and she also participates in a wide variety of athletics/sports. Everything is so thoughtfully planned, and I appreciate how LP really makes things fun. T H E S T A F F Staff is attentive, caring, and organized. Communication has been exceptional around administrative things. O T H E R This school year (2025-2026), they relaxed their potty training policy while also encouraging independence with potty training. Our daughter made very quick progress in the first month and is now very independent in this area. Thank you! Moreover, there are a few fun performances for the parents around the holidays. So far, those have been for Halloween and Christmas. Thank you, Learning Pathways, for organizing such happy and adorable memories for us! "Goodness Snakes" came to her class this month, and my daughter really enjoyed being up close and even holding (!) some snakes in a safe setting! LP is super good about taking photos of the children. We get photos (and sometimes videos) daily, and they're always a delight. A R E A S T O I M P R O V E We are thrilled with nearly everything about LP, but there are a few areas I think that could be improved: -Please consider healthier snacks. There are some snacks with a high amount of added sugar (e.g. granola bars and dried fruit), and it'd be much more appreciated to only give crackers for meeting the "grains" category of food. -Additionally, please reconsider Swank's Farms for the pumpkin patch field trip. Not only is it about an hour from LP, but it did not rival any of the local pumpkin patches (e.g. in Santa Clara/San Jose area). Moreover, it was a little surprising that there were not any group activities. My husband took a day off for this field trip so we could become more acquainted with other LP families, yet the school did not even take a photo together. We were expecting some sort of organized activity or interaction between the families, but each family was really on their own (just physically in the same space).

Almost every day he asks us to pick him up at 6 pm because he wants more time with his teachers and friends. As parents, we couldn't ask for a better sign that he was exactly where he was meant to be. What stood out most to us was how well the teachers understood each child as an individual. Our son developed strong math and early reading skills at a young age, and we occasionally wondered whether he would become bored. Instead, they found ways to keep him engaged, encouraged his curiosity, celebrated his progress, and continued to challenge him in meaningful ways. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who was part of our son's journey at LP, from Dragonfly (Ms. Coco, Ms. Gaby, and Miss Viri) to Star Room (Miss Alyssa, Miss Megan, and Ms. Daisy). We couldn't be more thankful for all that we've learned, the kindness and patience we've received as new parents, and the community we've been able to take with us as we leave. The #1 reason I chose Explorer Preschool was the required monthly Parent Ed Classes. As a former teacher, I love learning but not too proud to admit that I need to pay a school to hold me accountable. Sleep deprivation is a big deterrent. Explorer, however, is special because what we learn is immediately applicable. Parents learn from each other, ask questions we hadn't thought to ask yet. We get the opportunity for our LOs to be loved and supported by a caring community of similar values. We, too, fall in love with other LOs and get to watch them all grow up together in a safe space. We don't have family here, which was daunting to say the least, as first-time parents in 2022. Now, after 4 years, we feel like the close families that we've bonded with will remain our friends for a lifetime. I love how much my LO just goes up to other parents just to have a good laugh, and how much these other LOs come up to tell/share the most exciting news of the day. A lot of families have come and gone in the last 4 years. Being part of Explorer has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience…read more There's a joke that parenting is the one job nobody has to pass a test for -- that there really ought to be some kind of "SAT for parents" before anyone is handed a child. Explorer is the closest thing I've found to that school, except it never tests you. It teaches you. And what it teaches is less about how to raise a child than about how to be a good parent -- and underneath that, how to be a good person. What it made me see most clearly is this: the bond between a parent and a child is one of the most extreme imbalances of power that exists. In no other relationship does one person hold so much control over another human being -- over their time, their body, their choices, even their sense of what is real. And yet we almost never name it as power. We take it for granted. As a society we rarely talk about the restraint a parent owes a child, precisely because the child has no way to demand it. Explorer takes that restraint seriously. The community here holds to a belief that is simple to say and surprisingly hard to live: that we are not only here to protect our children, but to respect them. And what surprised me most was what that respect produces. Children who are treated with respect learn to extend it -- to their peers, and to the world around them. They come to understand boundaries not by being controlled, but by having their own boundaries honored, and by watching others honored too. They learn it through play, through sharing how they feel, through being given room to work things out rather than being told how things will be. I'll be honest: none of this is intuitive, and much of it runs against how most of us were raised. It asks you to hold back in the very moments when instinct says to step in and take charge. It asks you to be challenged -- to be willing to find out you were wrong. So I don't think Explorer is the right fit for every family. It's for the ones ready to walk in open-minded and let themselves be stretched. For us, it was exactly that. I'm deeply grateful that our family found Explorer, and that we've had the chance to be part of it.
