My wife and I recienty visited the pub and stayed the night in one of the rooms above...I had the fish and chips and she had a hamburger along with a few beers. The staff was great the food was execlent.. Our room was small but wonderful. The staff brought a delicious breakfast up to our room inthe morning. I can't say enough about the kindness of the staff. I have limited mobility and the switched our room to make accommodation for me. There was not a lift so it was a but of a struggle to get up the stairs but it was all worth it... read more

Group of 8 went to this pub on a Friday night. It was very busy because a party had been bookedh, but we sat downstairs where they had extra tables set up. At first I wasn't sure about the downstairs area because it seemed a bit dim, but they turned on a couple more lights and it turned out to be perfect. We could talk and hear each other perfectly. Not too hot nor too cold. Super approachable, friendly staff and fast service. A wonderful lady named Jane served our table and was very kind and fantastic and had great drink recommendations. Our orders ranged from plain pasta to tomato basil soup, fish and chips to burgers, chicken sandwiches to bangers and mash. No complaints from everyone, food was great. Ordered regular sizes of plates for fish and chips and sausages and mash. Very big portions, super tasty. (Am now a fan of mushy peas!) The tomato basil soup was made fresh that day (and would have been wonderful with a grilled cheese sandwich, lol) and was super delicious. 10/10 recommend this pub. Was within easy walking distance of the hotel. Will definitely go there again the next time I'm in London! read more

Great place. We found it as a highly rated place on yelp when we were over in the King's Cross area. It is a bit of a walk but it's worth it. Dinner starts at 6 but they will let you order ahead of time. (You order at the bar and they will bring you the food). I enjoyed the goat cheese, asparagus and arugula tart thing which was a great combination of flavors. The tart crust was thick but not super dense. My husband got a burger which he also enjoyed. Women's bathroom is in a corner that, when we were there, people were hanging out in front of so that isn't the smartest placement. But I did see signs for a bathroom in the basement as well. read more

Nipped in for a quick lunch, and I was pretty impressed with the menu. For a start, you can easily get lunch for a fiver, which I've come to think is impossible in London town, and secondly the service was really quick and accommodating since we turned up in two big groups at different times. My instant regret was not trying the burgers. When everyone around you gets a huge hunk of delicious patty and you've gone the 'sensible' route with a halloumi wrap, I challenge you not to be jealous. (Unless you're veggie, naturally.) By all accounts, those burgers looked phat and juicy. However, the halloumi wrap, friends, is definitely worth a look. None of that scrimping on cheese, the slices were huge. And the sauce, yoghurt (or creme fraiche?) and some kind of Mexican flavoured stuff, was pretty delicious. It came with salad and crisps, which were more than I could finish. Love the vibe -- trad pub feel, tables outside for a warmer day, and great friendly staff. Put it on your list if you're in the area. read more

My husband and I regretted not finding this place to stay, so don't make the same mistake, book it up! They only have four rooms but cute cute cute. If you're looking for a great little Sunday afternoon boozer with a twist, The Harrison can certainly give you a run for your money. Set in an Art Deco building, there's a rather familial feel to this Kings Cross pub, especially in the winter when the two fires are roaring away. But what really is starting to draws the Sunday crowds is The Pines music slot here every other Sunday, which kicks off at the convenient hour of 2pm, just enough time for you to settle in to your Erdinger Weissbeir and Rumpsteak. Guter Pub für ein Bierchen und was leckeres zum Essen! A typical London pub - as far as I can say as a non-local:-) We were there for lunch in a large group. Getting a table was easy and there were not too many guests. Probably this place is rather crowded in the night time. Staff was extremely friendly - a young lady was serving us. I had a salmon wrap with chips and grilled vegetables. It was quite tasty and enough. Price was good. The food of my fellow colleagues looked good as well, especially the burger. I stayed here a year back. The rooms are modern and nicely furnished in a boutique style. Flat screen and DVD's to borrow. Simple and plain, but nice and quiet as it's off the beaten track. There is a narrow stair nd no lift, but it's not a big place. I enjoyed the food very much, and chose to eat there both noghts I stayed. There was a poetry reading the first night I was there, which was interesting :-) Great location, only 5 mins walk from Kings Cross. read more

WOW. Been back twice since my initial review (once for Sunday roast again, then once for the regular dinner menu), and I've been blown away both times. The first time, I finally got the lamb, which was excellent. But what really made the meal was the dessert. Their apple and blueberry crumble is my new benchmark in delicious. It was that day that I also noticed they had my favorite Fruli (how had I not noticed before?!), which is an instant gold star, as I'm concerned. Then my friend and I went back yet again last night, and my God. After a lot of hemming and hawing (£16 is incredibly steep for me), I ordered the rib-eye, and I have to say, that was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. I ordered it medium-rare and it came out just right, with an amazing green peppercorn butter sauce on top. Every bite was perfect, they played Neil Young and PJ Harvey, and the servers are cute. There is nothing about that place that I don't like. Will be saving my pennies to repeat the experience in the near future. read more

I live in walking distance from this pub and it was a wonder I hadn't strayed to this side street before my housemates took me a few weeks ago for a catchup dinner. The place was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night, with what looked like a crowd accustomed to hanging out there. Service was alright, there were times when we had to go to the bar to get the attention of the waitress but once you dig in to the delish food, you forgive them for making you work for your food. I ordered the steak and I'm no steak connoisseur - I find it hard to tell the difference between the various degrees between good and awesome steaks, but I can recognize brilliance when I eat it. The steak at abt 13quid was well worth the money and the green-peppercorn was a nice accompaniment. My medium steak was perfectly made, it was juicy and tender but showed no unsightly streams of red halfway through the meal. I had a bite out of their burger too and the tender crumbliness of the finely-ground meat was an absolute delight. I'm already planning on another night out at this next door pub which is also well stocked in a wide range of beers, wines and spirits. I'm averse to giving it a 5-star because of the lackadaisical service but food's right up there as a 5-star. read more

You know? Yeah. Harrison, take all 4 stars. I *am* a fan. So it's tucked away beyond the busy of King's X to the north and the Brunswick Centre to the south. Feels a little secret, but...clearly the secret is out on Sunday nights. Sidebar: I have ONLY been here on Sundays. Once for dinner (not a roast), then for drinks and accordion music (yep, they play on Sunday nights), once for roast (Yorkshire pudding, I bow down!) and then last night was a double bonus: all-day folk music fest! So yep, I like it here. Bar staff is ON POINT and they serve wine in both "glass" or "LARGE" which, I mean, *latter please*. Their house pinot is totally great. The Harrison seems to like halloumi; that's cool, I do, too. Halloumi wraps at lunch, halloumi salads at dinner. Their halloumi salad is boss in that way where when I order it I don't just sit for the rest of the meal mopey about the fact that I didn't actually order my friends' burger and fries. The roast dinner is a Brit institution, I know, but I've never fully been into it. The lamb at The Harrison is great, though: a really dark, deep gravy, some (legit) mint sauce, and lots of fresh veg (in this case snap peas and carrots with little nubs of garlic, and broccoli) to help offset the heavy. I'm interested to try their salmon and nut roast options, too. Yelp note: the only real note I have to pass along is: on Sunday nights, if you're into roast...get there early. I think they start serving 'em at 6pm, and we once showed up at 7 and they were all out. So, y'know, early birds sometimes *do* get that worm/lamb. *Edited to add*: have now had 3 Sunday night dinners here. And I would like to say: leave room for dessert! Their (house-made, I think) ice-cream is delicious...like, not heavy and super-creamy, but FULL of flavour. And slightly off-beat flavours like cinnamon and banana and honey. read more

Well I was fortunate to be working in London and stumbled across this nice pub in the back streets away from those very quick getaway places to eat. It was nice and friendly place. It had a good variety of beer and the menu was very varied and reasonable. I had a nice pasta meal which fit my appetite very well and I think it's very nice place to go for food away from the hustle and bustle of the London streets. I will go there again. read more

Packed on a Thursday night, the Harrison does not have the rambunctious and frantic air of other pubs in Bloomsbury, but a more mature, congenial presence. Tucked away amongst council houses, they offer an impressive selection of bottled beers in addition to the standard draughts. As far as red wine goes, they had an option of Malbec or Merlot, two of my favorites. I went with the Malbec, which was quite nice. As I was only in here waiting for an appointment, I did not have time to sample the food, but I was impressed with their multiple vegetarian options and wish that I had stayed to eat. Not really sure why this place has such good reviews. I mean the food is average at best, but surely nothing you couldn't get from any pub in London. The place itself is also nothing special but at least it feels authentic and isn't one of this tourist places you will find so often in central London. So at least there is one good thing to it. We went there for a Sunday roast and we all agreed that the food wasn't executed very well. My beef was dry and overcooked. The veggies were regular frozen vegetables that just got re-heated and the Yorkshire pudding was pale. The ales are good, but you can't really mess that up, can you... It might be that the place is good for drinking in the evening, but I certainly cannot recommend this for eating, especially not for a Sunday roast. At least it is cheap, so if you are only looking for some food to fill you up after a night out this could be your place, if you are looking for high quality pub food look somewhere else. read more

What a great place for excellent pub food and excellent music. Crowded, loud, and a great time! Visiting from the states - The Harrison was walking distance from our lodging near Goodenough College. Late evening on a Sunday we headed over hungry, thirsty, and tired. What a great atmosphere. Managed to work our way through the crowd and up to the bar - ordered the Sunday Roast and a couple of pints. Found a seat outside. Our food was brought out pretty quick - and was delicious. We stayed another hour for some live music and had a great time. I will visit again next time in London. read more

I would give this joint 3.5 if I could, but that's not allowed. Overall, a very good experience. The two staff members were young but quick, polite and smiling. Genuinely happy I would say! The chips were very crispy and delicious, cut as wedges. The best we've had in London so far. I also had the scallops, which were OK, but nothing amazing (though paired well with the greens they were served with and attractively presented). The burger my wife had didn't look great, but she said the bun was good. Something the UK and Canada lack is a medium-rare burger, which I think is illegal? I would certainly go back and try other things if we're in the area, as other restaurants around King's Cross didn't seem too appealing. read more

Note: This is a review on my experience with take-away I saw on Yelp that the Harrison did take away and after some perusing of the online menu I decided to give it a go. All of the dishes seemed very enticing and I got the sense that the chef took his time putting together each dish with an interesting variety of ingredients. I go ahead and call and the host was extremely confused that I was calling to pick up, he told me they did not do delivery, and after explaining that I wanted to pick up my meal to-go he finally understood. He had to ask the chef if this was possible, and indeed it was. It was ready in a quick 10 minutes. I arrive at the location, and it was totally packed. My doggy bag was ready to go and the staff was friendly enough. I ordered the vegetarian burger and the dressed salad, I could sense on the phone that he hadn't gotten the dressed salad. Lo and behold the salad wasn't there but it was partially my fault for not reiterating. Overall the meal was quite delicious and I would recommend the vegetarian burger, but I probably won't make it back to this place again. read more

The Harrison - Pics at The London Foodie (http://www.thelondonfoodie.co.uk ) In my search for the best burger in London, I have been fortunate to have had some pretty good experiences like the ones at Byron, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, and more recently at The Harrison with Mr Noodles and Dr G. This arduous task is proving a most enjoyable quest despite disastrous meals at The Diner in Islington and Grand Union. I was also a little disappointed with Hache in Camden Town although I feel I should pay it at least another visit before making my mind up. Another unfortunate experience was at The Fine Burger Co. on Upper Street which I am still to write about. This month I will be trying the two most talked about burgers in town, Hawksmoor and Goodman's. Considered the top end of steak houses, their burgers & chips do not come cheap at £15 and £12 respectively. The Harrison was an interesting find, and one I would not have come across but for Mr Noodles' invitation. I would not describe it as a gastro-pub and despite its subtle gentrification, it retained some of its original elegant features. The menu was reassuringly simple and excellent value with meals ranging from £8 for a wild mushroom, spinach and ricotta lasagne to £13.50 for a rib-eye steak, salad and chips. The beers on offer included quality brands such as Guinness, Staropramen, Erdinger (weissbeer) and some Belgium bottled beers. Mr Noodles and I were both happy with our combination of burgers, coleslaw, salad and chips @ £9 the patties were meaty and juicy and perfectly cooked. Dr G was however not as lucky his burger was overcooked, while his French fries needed a bit more cooking, and his salad was poorly washed and gritty. I would like to return to The Harrison although the lack of consistency in their cooking is an issue that needs to be addressed. Cost: £9 for burger, chips, and salad + £3 to £4 for a pint of beer. Likes: good patties, simple and good value menu, and Erdinger weissbeer on tap. Dislikes: lack of consistency in their cooking, gritty salad. Verdict: good value local pub serving some quality beers and food in Kings Cross. Well worth a detour if in the area, but make sure the burger is cooked medium and the French fries are crisp. read more

A lovely unassuming neighbourhood pub. Comfortable and friendly. Really good kitchen. The menu nods to comfort while deftly avoiding the usual interpretation of pub fare. Popular spot for locals, who seem to fill the place in the evenings with animated conversation. Not a single television is in evidence - so a true refuge from the usual blaring sports on TV that seems so ubiquitous these days. The Harrison has all the necessary elements to be a living part of the neighbourhood with none of the pejorative baggage associated with the word 'pub'. This pub has gone gastro. It reminds me a lot of the Bird in Hand (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/120216-The-Bird-In-Hand-London) near Shepherd's Bush. It wasn't packed at 2:30pm so I easily got a table, and proceeded to have the most substantial and delicious Sunday roast I've ever had for £8.50. It was a nice, relaxed spot. There were small groups of friends, definitely a younger crowd, coming and going. Most people were having roasts, too. They have blues and folk nights here sometimes apparently, and even the soul and instrumental CDs they played this afternoon were great. read more

I dragged out The London Foodie and his mate to give the burger at The Harrison near Kings Cross the once over. It should be noted that this wasn't my first choice for a pub burger but the place I had in mind, the Gunmakers has a rotating menu and the burger isn't always available. Now the burger at The Harrison was by and large a fine specimen although not without flaws. That said many of the flaws are due to foodie-fussiness. Personally, I was a little disappointed with the bun, which didn't hold the burger in properly and there were also issues with consistency. Two out of the three burgers were fine but one was overcooked. That said I think the burger here is a cut above the gourmet chains with the patty having a definite own-made feel about it. Other than the one duff specimen, the burgers were thick and juicy and a steal at £9, including a side salad, coleslaw, and fries or chips. The only downside is location as although The Harrison is a decent pub, unless you live or work nearby, I'm not sure it's worth coming to this part of a town for a burger and a Guinness. read more

I stayed here on business for one week, in the B&B above the bar. I can't say enough about the excellent and friendly staff. The food was fantastic--some of the best Sunday roast I've had in London (try the beef), and the burger and goat cheese ravioli were also very good. Nice selection of ales. Mercifully quiet and just a quick walk from King's Cross/St. Pancras station. As far as accommodations go, this is a hidden gem in the heart of London! read more

An amazing little find, tucked away near King's Cross, and I would have NEVER chanced upon it in a million years if it wasn't for yelp. A great little pub serving a fantastic Sunday Roast. It's not a Gastropub in the same sense that Great Queen Street is, but the food itself is splendid. Delicious roast chicken, 2 different tasty veg roast options, and decent service. The tables are beautiful worn oak, and there's a a nice mix of grizzled locals, young upwardly mobile types with families, and 20-somethings. A splendid place to warm you up on one of those dreary windy days. read more

This place is an absolute MUST in London. The atmosphere was unpretensious and it's off the beaten track a bit, but the food was absolutely Spec ficking tacular. The Braised oxtail was completely amazing, probably the best meal we had in either London or Paris. The pan seared duck was also wonderful, if not quite as life-altering as the oxtail. Ok. This place is a diamond in the rough. We found it while walking down from Kings Cross towards Holborn, creeping through a housing estate. From the outside it looks like it could be a working men's club. We were utterly amazed and delighted by the menu and the quality of the food. The presentation was thoughtful and service was fast, although the place wasn't busy when we were there. There was an excellent guest ale on tap to round it off. Not sure what this place would be like as an evening joint. They seem to have a pretty good live music scene advertised. As a lunch place it's a winner. read more

Tried the recommended Haloumi salad - was pretty good but the duck dish was absolutely horrible - completely overlooked, cold, tough and no crispy skin in sight. A return visit to a great bar restaurant with a good easy menu, large portions and reasonably priced wine. The food is pleasing and the service good though tonight it was incredibly noisy due to a coincidence of some overly loud customers at nearby tables. A little hard to hear our conversations as a result. Not the pub's fault and don't be deterred - hopefully it will be a little quieter next time. Easy walk from Kings Cross but a little out of the way. Work out your route before you go. read more
