This is a beautiful little place tucked away behind baseball fields. When approaching on Hwy 77, just look for the Recreation Center sign and drive to the back of the parking lot to enter the botanical garden. The garden is well kept with a paved path throughout much of grounds. There's a small pavilion, which looks to be a lovely spot for a small wedding and/or reception. There's a tiny "porch" behind a screen door with two rocking chairs where you can sit and enjoy the view. There's also a pagoda and red bridge for photo ops. Further in there is an amphitheater, as well as a nice playground for the kids. Surrounding all of this, of course, is healthy foliage of every kind. I would recommend bug spray, and maybe a hand fan for those humid days. Such a peaceful place for a relaxing walk and conversation, meditation, or even a picnic.

The garden is a nice walking space for me. I'm so excited to see the flowers & trees start to bloom. Very peaceful & well maintained.

I have been coming to Hartwell for the last 4 summers and had no idea this garden was here. I was extremely surprised to find how large the park was and how nice it is inside. Several trails and almost all of them are shaded for a beautiful walk through nature. If you love the outdoors, this is a hidden gem in a location you would never expect. Several playgrounds in the area for children to enjoy.

There's a lot of potential here now only if they had food trucks or stands to offer breakfast…read morealternatives to McDonald's sniping their customers. :P This particular market isn't planted in a park, but near the city hall in a lot. The produce here is generally very fresh as long as you get here before the sun gets too high, and aside from the vendor tents, the lack of trees makes it sweltering. My only hang ups are that aside from a few speciality vendors.. everyone markets the same produce leaving out a bit if variety. I imagine this has to do with the surrounding area since I haven't known this place to be the most knowledgeable on vegetables or how to cook them. I once was asked what a lemon was although not at this market but close enough. Maybe cooking demos could be a thing for the future? Or some hot food vendors. :( Not even sure if they have food trucks in hartwell, but hey? Why not one of the many fine bbq restaurants in the area grab onto one? There's also a meat vendor who sells local pork and sausage... maybe a coupling? Eh? Eh? ; D Who knows. A couple of ideas on what's generally sold here: -Local raw honey (yet to try but looks great) -Blueberries! Delicious fat ones. -All sorts of vegetables, mostly squash, beans, okra, and tomatoes. -Baked goods. (Breads, cakes, fried pies, pastries) -Local farm fresh pork/sausage. (Haven't tried either) -Artisan crafts -preserves and jellies -flowers and plants (home gardening) If you're looking to vend it's also $10 for the season. :) Anyways, I like this market. It's local, the prices vary but most the produce is cheap and organic.

We bought some cookies, some veggies, and some other miscellany. Had trouble finding it, though. It was on the other end of the town than what we found online. In front of the hardware store, if you're looking for it.
