We really enjoyed this area. It's beautifully designed and maintained. We are here for a few days camping at Hartwell lake and were really happy to find this gem! We sat watching the birds on Mamaw's rockers for almost 2 hours. It was bliss. Highly recommend visiting, I imagine it's gorgeous in the spring. Thank you to the Garden Society for providing/preserving such a beautiful area. read more

A gem of a botanical garden for the Hart County folks. I was visiting family in Hartwell and they suggested we come here for a walk Sunday morning. Truly enjoyed the layout and design. The planners were very thoughtful about every aspect. We walked to all the different sections and appreciated all the signage for the various trees and plants. The children's garden is amazing with a very well designed free library at three different levels for the different reading levels. we end our visit sitting in the birdwatching house enjoying the various birds feeding. Highly recommend coming here when in Hart County. read more

This is a beautiful little place tucked away behind baseball fields. When approaching on Hwy 77, just look for the Recreation Center sign and drive to the back of the parking lot to enter the botanical garden. The garden is well kept with a paved path throughout much of grounds. There's a small pavilion, which looks to be a lovely spot for a small wedding and/or reception. There's a tiny "porch" behind a screen door with two rocking chairs where you can sit and enjoy the view. There's also a pagoda and red bridge for photo ops. Further in there is an amphitheater, as well as a nice playground for the kids. Surrounding all of this, of course, is healthy foliage of every kind. I would recommend bug spray, and maybe a hand fan for those humid days. Such a peaceful place for a relaxing walk and conversation, meditation, or even a picnic. read more

I have been coming to Hartwell for the last 4 summers and had no idea this garden was here. I was extremely surprised to find how large the park was and how nice it is inside. Several trails and almost all of them are shaded for a beautiful walk through nature. If you love the outdoors, this is a hidden gem in a location you would never expect. Several playgrounds in the area for children to enjoy. read more

I'm amazed that this place exists in little ole Hartwell, GA! It's located beside the recreation fields, and it would be an excellent place to come for a walk in the morning. You could even bring a book and some coffee and sit in one of the rocking chairs! Lots of bugs though, so bring some mosquito spray! I was very impressed by all of the sculptures and artwork they had. The kids area was also quite large and they had a lending library as well. We went after a heavy rain, and all of the books inside were soaked :/ I also loved all of the signs and information about different plants, etc. Its a pretty large garden, and I will definitely be coming here next time I visit Hartwell! read more

My daughter and I saw signs and followed them to the gardens. We open the car doors to a light rain outside and walked into the inviting entrance of the gardens. What a pleasant surprise. Natural trails led us from one section of the garden to the other. My only regret I didn't bring a book to enjoy inside this peaceful garden that's so full of life. read more
