We bought a bottle of "Let the Big Dawg Drink", a cabernet/merlot blend that they make here and it was the worst bottle of wine we have ever purchased, and we've been to 30+ wineries in Georgia alone over the last 25 years. The wine was CARBONATED and bore no resemblance to the sample we tried at the winery. We reached out to Victor, the owner/winemaker, to question him and ask for a resolution, and were completely ignored. Take your business elsewhere unless you like ZERO customer service and a winery that doesn't know how to properly bottle or age its wines. Just look at the FIZZ in the attached pictures. read more

Mr. Boutier, Ok, this man knows how to make some nice ass wine. We did a tasting but he kept making us taste other wines beyond what we paid for. I am a semi-sweet person and loved everything he offered. Just tasty good wines. He also has a bed and breakfast which I will be trying the BnB and tasty more of his wines plus he does ladies night with food and wine and dancing ooooolala. I will be trying Jazz night and the southern rock night. Really great place with a cool owner. read more

We found this winery on Yelp when searching for a winery near Athens. What a find! We tried the wine tasting and then stayed for a couple more drinks and cheese tray. Pricing is reasonable and the wines are really good. We learned that this winery also has a B&B and plan to come back and stay. The owner Victor is very attentive and very friendly. Deb was helping him on the day we came 15/January 2022. She told us about different events that they host, such as live music. Both are good conversationalists and it made our visit even more welcoming. The place was quite busy from what appeared to be locals. I guess this is the place to be if you're in Madison County, Georgia. If it wasn't such a far drive we would go there more often. read more

We visited on a first date and were thrilled with the experience. The owner Victor, was amazing with a great personality. The wine is incredible! I have great knowledge of wine and I was beyond impressed! The flavor is unique in the best way. He has been awarded winemaker of the year and his wine has won 46 awards! The environment is beautiful. You know that the owner is extra smart because of his wine names. Make sure to sample: Diva'Licious, Hot Flash, Bipolar Bitch and the lovely dessert wine Rich Bitch. It was the perfect first date. There is a bed and breakfast onsite and events each night of the week. I can't recommend it enough. I booked the bed and breakfast portion super last minute (a few hours before we were to arrive actually lol) and it was awesome! Such a beautiful place and the holiday decor added something extra special. The room was clean and cozy. The bed was super soft like sleeping on clouds. We loved the shower, made us feel like we were at a high end spa. We also got to try wine when we first arrived as well but I do want to go back to try more. I highly recommend this place. My partner and I visited Boutier Winery yesterday after finding ourselves in the Athens area with nothing to do on a Sunday. Breweries were closed, we didn't feel like eating (for once)... what can we do on a beautiful sunny fall day? I came across the Yelp page for Boutier and thought, "Ok, let's give this a whirl." I was a little dubious because typically wineries are located close together, and this one is at least an hour away from the other GA wineries like Frog Town, etc. Boutier specializes in fruit wines, which I'm not a big fan of, so we tried their red, white, and blush wines, and snuck a few fruit wines in there too. I was very impressed! They get some of their grapes from CA, but they also use GA varietals. Good selection of riesling, chardonnay, many red blends (syrah, shiraz, pinot noir, cab, cab franc). I only tried two fruit wines- the GA peach and the peach jalapeno- and I really liked them! Probably not something I would drink a whole glass of, but even so, I was impressed at the taste. Their tastings are $1/wine and you can have as many as you want. They have nice outdoor tables where you can enjoy a glass. The owners are so nice and personable. They were setting up for a wedding while we were there, but still took the time to talk with us for at least an hour while we were tasting. I would return! Much more laid back and friendly experience than some of the other GA wineries I've visited. read more

Lovely tasting room with a very charming owner. We visited on a moderately busy Saturday afternoon but were able to get seats at the bar. I think the tasting (6 samples) was about $10 and the service was quick and friendly. They also sell bottled water and beer in case wine is not your thing (the water worked for my designated driver). The location in Danielsville is really pretty - no need to drive up to the mountains to find a beautiful place to spend a few hours tasting great wines. read more

Really nice little winery! We enjoyed our wine tasting with samples of 6 wines and our truffles that were paired with the wines. My favorite is the Georgia Peach! Owner is very personable. We returned later in the evening to listen to Splitz the band for a couple of hours. The space for the band is spacious and has a dance floor. Great place for an evening out! read more

Had the best experience! Gale served us our flight of wine. We picked six different wines to taste. I prefer the sweeter wines and they were delicious! My mother enjoys the dryer wines and said the same about those. Gale made us feel right at home. She was very informative on the wine as well as activities to do around Athens. Victor and Mary Boutier are a beautiful couple and make you feel right at home at their winery! Victor is a master at making great wines and has won numerous awards. Most recently won the highest award in Georgia for one of his wines. This couple has a knack for naming their wines very interesting name like Skinny Bitch, Cranky Bastard, Diva-Licious ( one of my favorites) and don't forget Hot Flash! Twice a month, they host a "Ladies Night Only." Dinner, wine and dancing at an affordable price. You really can dance like nobody is looking. Do yourself a favor and stay the night at the beautiful Bella Bed and Breakfast (Joyce Savage, the owner is one sweet lady) located on the property. My girlfriends and I try to do this about twice a year! Lots of laughs and fun memories! read more

Happened upon it by accident while visiting Watson Mill Bridge Park last weekend. Victor was very welcoming and friendly. Beautiful grounds, would be great spot for events/parties/weddings. Good size event space in back of tasting room, looks like could fit 100 or so. Nice wines, I dont like real sweet stuff so didn't really try much of the local grown wines. Didn't have a chance to stay or check out the Inn, looks nice. Only negative is signage once you arrive. If you've never been, the Inn is at the very front but no signs indicating. You have to drive to the back to the tasting room, again no signs. read more

We bought several bottles of their wine after spending about two hours there. Their wine has such fun names. Ask the owners about the names and they can tell you how each earned their unique title. Wine was good but we showed up 30 minutes before closing because we hit traffic and we came from Greenville to try the winery and the owner immediately greeted us telling us that they would be closing soon and he had work to do for the shift change and didn't want to get home late.... it made us uncomfortable during the tasting and we ended up leaving right at close with some wine left that we didn't get to try just because it was so awkward. I spent a lovely afternoon hanging with a dear friend and Victor, the owner. I wasn't a fan of the white (other than the Riesling, which is more French than you'd expect) but I thoroughly enjoyed the reds and dessert wine. They are experts in the dessert wine and I enjoyed the wine I tried. But more than that, I enjoyed celebrating my Birthday with victor and Mary. Kind souls, good wine and great conversation. One could not ask for more on a special occasion. I preferred the sweeter wines to the drier wines simply because they are experts in it. But the best is simply the company, the atmosphere and a feeling of welcoming. I would recommend this place whole heartedly. read more

I have had the pleasure of enjoying these wines for a few years now, and can honestly say without exaggeration that I prefer them over anything else I have ever sampled. Victor and Mary have produced a collection that is unique, complex, daring, and downright satisfying. Their award-winning reds & whites impress even the most experienced palette. Their blends are inspired and laid-back at the same time. The fruit & dessert wine specialties reveal the good humor and originality of the creators; who could possibly resist a Georgia peach ice-style wine aged with cocoa beans? "Absolutely Sinful" is right! The winery itself is hidden on the outskirts of Ila & Danielsville, Georgia. The building is surrounded by a vineyard, and tastefully decorated. Wine tastings are available in the afternoons on weekends, but I think an appointment is needed on weekdays. Besides the wine, the main attractions are the proprietors themselves. Mary, a Dublin native, is full of stories with quick wit, while Victor is a great resource to help choose the right wine for you. Both have great suggestions on which wines to try and even which will go well in a cocktail! I definitely recommended dropping by this diamond-in-the-rough if you ever get the chance. If not, I think you might be able to order directly from them to at least get a taste of the finest wine in the southeast. read more

My husband and I wanted to get out of the city and do some exploring, so we consulted Groupon and decided to give Boutier Winery a try. We're so glad we did! The winery is adorable, the grounds are beautiful, and you feel very far away from Atlanta while only being 90 minutes away. The wines were very unique and very well made. The grapes come from California or are grown on the premises, and the fruit juices for the sweet wines are brought in from Florida. I loved the stories of hearing how the wines are made! I don't particularly care for sweet wines so I didn't love the majority of the wines that I sampled, but they were still good and we were having so much fun that we didn't really mind anyway. We paired our wines with delicious chocolate truffles and we weren't disappointed. I highly recommend giving Boutier Winery a try! read more

My Mom and I had a cheese and chocolate truffle tasting. It was absolutely fabulous. The 1st cheese was quite bazaar- it was made with coconut cream and paired with a dry Riesling that had some tropical notes that really complimented the coconut. The 2nd was my favorite- a strong English cheddar that had a spicy horseradish flavor with the Elegance Vin Rouge which is a shiraz/cab/merlot blend that was fruity and a bit nutty. Delicious! Later we tried a peach jalapeno wine that was incredible! The owner Victor is very friendly and knowledgeable and fun to chat with. I could have stayed there all day. I only wish they had a restaurant or some lodging available. It was a great day trip from Atlanta and the perfect place to escape the bustling city. read more

Always love going to wineries in my home state but even more so when adventuring around a place I have never been to support the economy and meet some locals. Planned on meeting friend and her family for a pre-wedding tasting but the weather posed a threat to the big day so they were too busy to meet up. My husband and I therefore enjoyed alone and although most of the wines were too dry for me (I am used to sweet Florida wines made with fruit and muscadine grapes), the Irish owners were very welcoming and sweet as well as their neighbor (owner of the Bed and Breakfast on the same road) who know of my friend who was getting married. Bought the two best bottles we tried (Georgia Peach Jalapeno wine if you can believe it and their dessert wine which tastes like a liquer, super awesome!). Wish them the best! read more

A little east of Commerce, Ga you can find a unique Georgia Winery in a beautiful rural setting. My wife & I spent part of our Friday with Victor wine maker and Owner of Boutier Winery. The tasting room is very well set up and inviting. We tried some great wines: Villardonnay, Caberana, Diva 'licious & Rich Bitch were among our favorites. Everything that we tasted was excellent. Victor made you feel very welcome. He was of course very knowledgeable in his craft and has a huge interest in helping the local area. The trip is well worth the trip. I bought a Groupon for my husband's birthday to visit this vineyard. WOW! What a delight! We love a good adventure, so we ventured upon Boutier with no expectations or reading any reviews to prepare us for what was in store for us. Mary, co-owner w her husband Victor, was soooo much fun to talk to! She immediately makes you feel at home and treats you like family! I just loved her and cant wait to go back for another visit! We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting, paired with the delicious chocolate truffles (the dark choc sea salt caramel was our favorite!).
