Came here to watch Alien on a Monday night. We got a senior citizen discount for my mom in law and they also do discounts for first responders and military on Mondays as well for $5 which is nice. It is very cold inside so I would recommend bringing a hoody. They played several commercials twice in the preview which I thought was weird and sometimes the volume was really loud at different times. I appreciate that this theater chose to show the Daniel theater performances. They have those machines with every soda and juice option available and all the basic movie treats. Wish they sold iced coffee or even the glass bottles of Starbucks coffees. The theater was clean and seats were soooo comfortable. Great movies and seats, wished they had an IMax or 4DX maybe one day it'll be added. Arcade was fun with an air hockey table and Galactica/Pac-man machine however both are no longer functioning properly. Air Hockey table has been jammed for a while now and hasn't been fixed, pac-man machine has lag in the controller due to old condition. Arcade needs to be restored with some fresh machines. I've won before with the claw machine but same thing with the claw doesn't function greatly anymore. Sad to see such a great area go to waste especially before/after seeing a movie. read more

This theater is very clean and well kept, and is therefore a pleasure to visit. The surround sound makes for a really full on experience, and the pricing is in line with other theaters in the area. If you are smart, you will take advantage of the matinee prices which will save you big off the full price ticket. The one issue I have with this and every other modern theater today is the price of concessions. I mean, I don't expect to pay Wal-Mart prices for popcorn and a coke, but I don't expect to pay $8 either. The price for candy and drinks and popcorn is simply outrageous. Theaters are a big business, and they make a LOT of money. It is just not necessary to charge those kind of prices for concessions. Amstar and good and everything never usually have a problem but this past weekend went to go see a movie with a friend after work and they wouldn't let us see a Harry Potter movie due to the fact she was 15 now I'm 17 and I have a ID and it was 9 o'clock I was told we couldn't see it unless we had someone 21 or older because she wasn't 17 which I find a little ridiculous. Amstar is a good theater in the sense that they offer a wide selection of titles, good quality sound and comfortable seating. With that being said, during a Sunday matinée If you want to watch a now common place 3D movie they charge full price. They also charge more during the week for 3D as well. To show a watered down non 3D version that most others in America would scoff at is not only an attempt to make more money, it's also in poor/bad taste. Yes we are in a small town but we are not in the 1990's. Amstar would greatly benefit by letting customers watch these movies as their marketed/advertised for the standard price of admission. I've lived in Anderson my entire life and have never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show at this movie theater. Not only that, don't expect to see a new release on the night of its release. There are fights outside as well as in the lobby area and during the movie there are a mass amount of people on their cell phones. I usually prefer this theater over regal starlight, but I am pretty annoyed about my experience today. The reason I am granting two stars is because I normally prefer it there. I took my nephew and a friend to see Iron Man 3 today at 4pm. When we walked into the auditorium for our showing it was HOT. The two ladies that were in there before us told us they had already complained. I actually called the front counter on my cell phone (it was still several minutes before the movie was to start) and complained about the heat. Then the next two people that came in after us went to complain and said they were told something would be done about it. It was hot for the entire movie. As the movie ended and the credits began, a man came in and tinkered with the thermostat. By the time the credits ended I felt cool air!! I think it is very obnoxious to intentionally wait until the movie is over to fix something several people have complained about! My friend has a sick headache now from the heat.
