Located right on Falls Lake, next door to Camp Kanata, the property is also a registered Audubon bird sanctuary. Everyone we have met at this club has been professional and friendly, always anticipating our every need and happy to help out, from event planning, to the swimming pool, to the dining room. The golf clubhouse has its own restaurant and grill. Its endearing chef, Sterling O'Connor, was 100% enthusiastic about preparing vegan dishes for our whole family. What a lovely surprise. Growing up at our country club in the Midwest, I don't remember too many vegan options other than the mixed greens at the salad table at holiday brunch. Our server explained that the course is GPS-mapped, so you can use an app to orient yourself and determine drive range. The golfers among us seemed pleased by that.

My favorite golf course in the Raleigh area. It plays very long so bring your woods. It is a private country club so you cannot get out unless you know a member. If you are not a long ball hitter I would suggest the three or four tees. If you play the two tees you are going to be left with a lot of 200 yard second shots on par 4s.

Our experience with NRCC from start to finish has been exceptional and we would be thrilled to host another event there should we have the opportunity. Cam, the events coordinator at NR was excellent to work with. We meet 4 times prior to the wedding and she was always extremely well organized and professional. She kept the many details straight, provided excellent suggestions and had a fun and pleasant manner. On the actual wedding day, Cam was helpful, calm and gave us the sense that she was completely committed to making sure everything was perfect. We enjoyed having her be a part of the day and despite her completely professional manner, consider her a friend. The rest of the staff also exceeded our expectations. From the sweet women who serve as receptionists in the lobby, to all of the wait staff - we did not encounter one person who was not doing their job with excellence. The ballroom itself is a gorgeous room with soaring ceilings and spectacular chandeliers. When we added the custom linens, that are part of the wedding package, flowers and candlelight, we had truly breathtaking setting that will live long in our memories. Our guests raved about the food as well. The appetizers were served by waiters and were so plentiful some guests told me that they had to finally say no to save room for dinner! The meal was served very efficiently and elegantly. The food was hot, presented well and comparable in quality to a fine restaurant. We recommend North Ridge with great enthusiasm as a wedding venue. The only regret I have is how quickly the night passed by. Thank you to Cam and all the other staff for helping make our daughters wedding one of the most memorable nights of our lives.

We had carefully discussed the menu with them prior, including doing preliminary tastings deciding on salmon for the meat eaters and a vegetarian pasta entree for the vegetarians which included me and a few of my friends. At the wedding dinner they completely forgot the vegetarian pasta and scrambled to find something to feed us vegetarians. They gave us plain white boiled rice with no sauce and boiled carrots. Apparently this was the best they could do. No joke. For real. I think prisoners at the Penitentiary get much better meals than what I got at my own wedding. I basically went hungry on my own wedding night and to this day every time I think about it, I feel sick to my stomach. They credited us monetarily for the miserable vegetarian "entrees" but didn't seem very apologetic at all. The Treyburn employee we worked with who was responsible for the incredible foulup was a lady with the initials J.D. I'm very happily married, but Treyburn ruined my actual wedding and they really didn't care. I absolutely do NOT recommend Treyburn.

It is a beautiful walking course and when I'm playing by myself, I can typically play 9 holes in about 1:40. The golf course is really the difference-maker for Hope Valley, as it stands up very well to any course in NC. There was a PGA tour event here in the 1940s, so you know that the layout is strong. Hope Valley is a private club with an initiation fee. There are three levels of membership - SOCIAL (which allows you to use the pool, the restaurants and play golf 6 times a year - for a fee); TENNIS (which is social plus free access to the 7 clay and 2 hard tennis courts; GOLF (all the golf, tennis, pool, etc that you want) - and if you walk, there is no incremental charge for golf. I would say that the average monthly charge for family golf is $500, so you really have to like to play golf. If you play tennis, there are a lot of leagues and weekly events - like men's night, where the pro splits everybody up into even matches. After 2 hours of play, folks hang out and drink beer in the moonlight. It makes for a fun evening.

My in-laws are members at a different McConnell club and my Father in-law wanted to book a round of golf here while he was visiting us in Raleigh. We went in for brunch on a dreary Sunday morning and the place was dead. We were the only ones there for a solid hour and a half. It started to fill up again after 12pm. They did mention it is busier when it is a nice golf day, this day happened to be cold and rainy. The pastry chef was manning the omelet station she was was friendly and engaging. Our server was also friendly and close by when we needed something. The room with the bar has a beautiful wall of windows that overlook the golf course and since we could pick any seat we chose one in there. I ordered the orzo soup on the suggestion of the waitress and it was awesome, the blackened fish sandwich was huge and also quite good. I saw they have house ipads for kids to play with and keep them occupied while they eat which I thought was awesome! Overall if my in laws are in town would be happy to head in again!
