For our first haunted house, and especially being one of the very few open during the Covid-19 pandemic, my friend and I were very excited to visit the Haunted Hotel. Firstly, I'd like to commend the staff on a few things. There were attendees outside who were enforcing the six foot rule, were making sure people were wearing protective masks, and were keeping the line lively with costumed actors chasing people around. It set a great atmosphere that showed you what to prepare for inside, that it would be both safe and unsettling. The interior of the haunt was tremendous, as each room and even the transition spaces were decorated well. A variation of atmospheres made for an exciting journey through what felt like an endless maze. Where Haunted Hotel really lost myself, my friend, and our teenage accomplices is the actors. Several actors only stood motionless, staring "creepily" as we passed by. Not intimidating or scary at all. A few that were great included the first actor, who introduces you, the man in the elevator, and the girl in the church. One girl at the bottom of the stairs tried and performed well, but beyond them, a lot of people were either ill-prepared to scare people or simply pointed and said "that way" to guide us out. One girl, dressed as the nun from the Conjuring series only said "hurry the f*ck up" as we passed, not doing anything to scare us. As we were leaving, prepared for the inevitable chainsaw chase-out, the actor was smoking and we startled him as we entered the room. Not the best thing to see to leave a lasting impression. Overall, you can tell the love that was put into the building as the sets were phenomenal. For most of the actors though, a scare class is needed. What I will compliment the business on is that each actor had a mask that was compliant with the restrictions. Sadly though, after spending $25 to enter and then waiting in line for two hours, my high excitement was deflated rather quickly. Here's hoping they improve as the season continues. read more

Good Lord. This is the first haunted house that actually made me terrified to be at. I have heard from others that Haunted Hotel was really intense but I was skeptical because every other haunted house seemed kinda lame to me. After experiencing it myself, I agree with them. My group showed up an hour before the event even opened so we could wait in line and get a good parking spot. There are parking slots around that make you pay 10 dollars which isn't too bad being in downtown Louisville. Tickets can range from 25-60 depending on what option you want. The prices basically determine how long you want to wait in line with Fastpass being 40 and front of the line being 60. This haunted house takes it to the extreme. There is a ton of gore (finally a place that focuses on it), cursing, and the actors can touch you. I don't think I've ever had my face touched by so many people in my life but that's what I signed up for. You do get shocked, chases, grabbed and everything in between so if you don't get scared at least once I'm impressed. The actors are extreme with grabbing, yelling and chasing you but they do make sure they don't hurt you. We were thrown around like rag dolls but none of us left feeling sore so the actors do take their job seriously but they do keep safety in mind. This is by far the beat haunted house I've been too and everyone that likes this kind of thing should try it at least once. If you go, good luck!! read more

I had a chance to see this haunt off season because they opened up for us on the Midwestern Haunter's convention. It isn't in the best of neighborhood's but that's ok. They make it work. The house is a great old beauty, and their haunt actors truly love what they're doing. Their story is cohesive, they are a full touch haunt and that means JUST what it says it is. You may get picked up, you may get brushed against, but you WILL get messed with. I'm not going to spoil this for you, but let me just say you will enjoy this. read more

Went on Saturday night. Arrived 10 minutes before they open. Very large crowd. They started letting in people by groups of two, four, six. When it was our turn they put two groups together composed of 10 people . Was not set up for this big of a group. The lady said there were so many people that they had to combine group because the line was so large. We were at the last part of our group and weren't able to enjoy. It is only open from 9:00 to midnight. There are lots and lots of people waiting to get in. It cost us $30 a ticket. I would never go back. And I would never recommend anybody to go to this. I visited Haunted Hotel last night with my friends and had a couple issues but I'll also mention the parts that I enjoyed. The wait wasn't terribly long, but it is overpriced. Also the excessive amount of cop cars with their lights on gave me a headache before we even went inside. The first two actors I came in contact with (both dudes) felt the need to grab my face aggressively, get veryyy close, and squish my cheeks. I understand that it's a contact haunt, but as a haunt actor myself- the face is generally an area you shouldn't be touching (especially during a Pandemic .) It was overkill, and honestly I wish they would've been more creative instead of relying on making a woman uncomfortable for their scare. Also- it's cheesy to scream "get out" at guests in a haunt so just, don't. I'm not a hater though, I did really enjoy most of the haunt. The whole set throughout the building was phenomenal! All of the actors makeup and costumes looked amazing too. I loved the props (but my boyfriend did get smacked in the face by the first moving prop), and the lighting was on point. The jumpscares were pretty good and got me multiple times. The timing of the chainsaw at the end was GREAT, we thought we made it outside safely and then he came out and really got us. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I probably won't come back this season. read more

We ended up purchasing VIP 'front of the line' tickets because of the long lines. Our wait time was said to be 30 min, got in under 5 min. Pretty decent haunted house, took like maybe 20 min to walk through. That was prob bc we were rushing through the scares lol. The actors do touch you, put their hands around your neck, grab your jaws, grab your belly, etc. My daughter said someone had their thumb in her mouth at one point, I'm sure that was an accident. The actors also cuss and stay in your face in some of the scenes. Looking back, we'll prob only get middle price packages from now on bc of our little to no wait. We went to Hill of Terror last year, that one was 5 stars!! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves at this one too. read more

The Haunted Hotel has been a staple in Louisville horror for decades it seems. Everyone has a story about their time through the hotel. Parking can be tricky on a busy weekend, so be prepared for a pay lot. I've never seen the line too horribly long. They move pretty quickly. This is a full touch house, so you will be touched! I end up putting my hair in a bun because the actors love playing with my hair and that freaks me out. The elevator scene is one of the best! Some of the scenes are terrifying in a nontraditional way. I know thats vague, but instead of possession and witches, think murder and perversion. Its "real" in a very creepy sense. read more

What a BLAST! The actors can and WILL touch you, really adding to the experience. I was chased down by a guy with a chainsaw, had a strange monster run his hands through my hair, and had other light touches on my shoulders/upper back. The production is really good-lots of frights, screaming, and laughter. You really don't know what to expect as you turn each corner. I loved it-made for a great night. Went tonight/Saturday night when they opened at 8:00pm. We had to wait roughly 45 minutes to get in, but the atmosphere is great. As we waited the crowd kept growing in size. The place/area just seems intimidating. This haunt is huge by the way. It's definitely worth the money. As others have stated...I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say GO!!! You'll be glad you did. Best haunt in Kentuckiana without a doubt. Not a dull moment from room to room. Lastly, they can touch you which just adds to the creepy factor. The Haunted Hotel is surprisingly large and has an awesome layout. There is a great flow from scene to scene, each room is scarier than the last. This attraction is set apart from other haunted houses because of their staff. Each of the actors at the Haunted Hotel seem really into their parts, and go out of their way to scare you. The Haunted Hotel is a must see if you're in the Louisville area! While there is more I'd like to say, I feel it's important to not spoil the surprise. Just OMG!!! I've been to haunts all over the place and none of them compare to this place!! It's a touch-haunt, so I was a bit intimidated BUT the characters were perfectly horrifying while not ever going too far. One grabbed my arm & I kinda freaked when I felt my bracelet slide. She let go at the perfect time! Aside from the amazing instincts of the actors on the perfect amount of creepy, the props, setup and layout of this place is ASTOUNDING!! Brilliantly planned and scripted. The "scenes" build very well on one another and the environment itself is unbelievable! Honestly some of the most amazing sets that I've ever seen. No joke, Universal Studios has nothing on this place (and I've hit Universal's Halloween Horror Nights MANY times). Seriously, these folks h e found the best characters in the business and you WILL NOT regret making the trip to check out this Haunt! read more

Could very well be the most intense haunted attraction in the state of Kentucky. I really like how they set up their scares here. You never seem to have to worry about wandering in on a group in front of you getting the majority of the scare. They time everything here perfectly. The elevator scene in the beginning is one of a kind and absolutely terrifying. I would rate it 5 stars if it was about 5-10 minutes longer. read more

This haunted house is definitely extreme! It is a really fun experience to do with your friends and somewhere I would recommend to go if you want to be scared. This haunted house allows actors to touch you, which adds to a more scary experience. Me and my family really loved it and were definitely very scared. Fair warning they will touch you, and I mean not just lightly bump in to you instead they shove you and push you ect. Someone even whipped us and put a green substance on our faces. Also the line is very long but the line is very fun also because it's very interactive and the actors will walk around the line scaring you. Now the only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars is because someone I believed licked my face and hands, which I felt was a little too extreme and crossed the line a little bit. I was aware they could touch me but I wasn't aware they could lick me. Overall it was a very fun experience and I enjoyed it a lot but just be aware this haunt is very extreme. read more

With this Haunt there certainly is more than meets the eye. It may be that I have been spoiled by haunts such as The field of screams and the asylum scream park, that when I pulled up I was apprehensive about spending $25 for the haunt. I'd been used to being out in fields where the haunt is spread out acres, if not miles, and now I was at exactly what it's named: The haunted hotel. I have not been to the regular haunt, but the Christmas themed version, which I believe is identical to the conventional haunt, albeit without the festive decorations/ actors.Well Upon entering the haunt I was not disappointed. Although the haunt was relatively short, (again take with a grain of salt with the others mentioned) but well put together and highly detailed. The actors aren't scripted too much, and interact with the patrons more than in other haunts. The factor that probably made this haunt worth it is the fact that the actors WILL touch you. They will not hurt you, and at no point will you feel unsafe, but their ability to make physical contact with you adds to the realism and experience. I was (gently for what it's worth) grabbed around the throat and pushed/ pulled. The friend I had taken with me had a candy cane shoved in his mouth, which was actually rather amusing. The actors also use vulgar language, and I heard many F bombs hurled at us. This being stated, you must sign a waiver to go in and it's not a haunt recommended for sensitive or younger people. As avid Halloween lovers, we seek out the best haunted attractions in our area (MD, PA) but we were totally stoked to check out this place while visiting for our anniversary. The extreme haunt is a rarity these days so we LOVED this experience. The actors will touch you and I'm not talking about a little love tap. I was pushed, tugged, grabbed, molested with a chainsaw, cursed at...and I loved it!! They hold nothing back and it makes the experience so much better. The beginning with the elevator is the best! Highly recommend for people who are tired of the watered down crap and want to be truly entertained. Great make up, props, atmosphere, the works. We got the VIP passes which were worth the money especially since it was raining this evening. read more

Best haunted house in Louisville. So far this is been the best haunted house I have been to in the last two years the make up artist is phenomenal their costumes are top-notch professional quality the sets are stage ready. Wouldn't going to this haunted house you will be grab pushed pulled sprayed with water shocked and changed with a chainsaw if you're looking for a good scare and a great time this is the haunted house for you. Paid $10 for parking. Walked to the line, found out the wait would be 3+ hours and decided to leave, parking attendant refused to return our money. We even explained that we had been parked for only 10 minutes and were leaving. The attendant was very unfriendly and not willing to listen to us at all. Great haunted house, crappy workers. Will not be back due the the horrible unfriendly attitude of the parking attendant. Poorly done Haunted Hotel. You just lost 75$, but you screwed us out of $10, maybe good for you. read more

I freaking love the Haunted Hotel! It's a super intense hands on haunt that are not afraid to get up and personal! I get scared every time and that is super hard to do! I can't wait to visit them both in the Halloween season and hopefully they will be doing their Christmas time haunted house that was just to cool last year! read more

Saw good reviews before going. I went for the lights out zombie outbreak. It was barely entertaining, the actors were not great , nothing all that scary. It's too short ,. Hill of Terror in Bonneville was soooo much better ! Would not recommend this one unless you have a younger easily scared teen/child who has low standards. Hands down, the BEST haunted attraction you will visit in Kentucky! My family and I have been to some of the most popular haunted houses around the country and we all agree that Louisville has one of the most underrated haunts we have ever been to. The actors are TOP NOTCH! I have never, ever experienced such intensity from a fright staff like I did at the Haunted Hotel.
