    Happy people!

This was a gem of a breakfast spot! My daughter had the sweet crepes and it was a big portion that could have been easily shared. I had the eggs benedict and was very happy and full. Additionally, I tried a piece of their thick bacon and it was epic. Truly the best bacon I have had in 20 years. We had a party of five and everyone left fully and content. Kind people work here. Zero complaints. 5 stars!

The portions were huge!!! Good value, great service and hospitality, cozy warm feeling that you expect from a local hometown restaurant. We travelled up from Parksville, visited Cumberland, and wanted to enjoy a Sunday breakfast. Meat lover omelette was meaty and a great protein fix, pops said it was delish, nothing left on his plate. Classic breakfast had their signature home potatoes, done to perfection (not the frozen potatoes), toast was good. I had to try the crepes, and I was surprised it came with a beautiful bowl of fruit. (I asked no chocolate sauce on my crepe, so none in my photo). Parking is in the motel parking lot.

Wow, don't let the location fool you! This small hidden cafe cooks fresh delicious food and you are served by friendly servers. The Hog Omelette is incredible and don't expect to be hungry till much much later. The Hog and Hen Classic is well recommended with its Italian Sausages and incredible baby potato hash browns.

Our taxi driver from the airport recommended this breakfast spot and we are so grateful! My daughter and I enjoyed the most delicious Eggs Benedict and crepe with thoughtful service and a charming atmosphere. We will add this to our "must do" list whenever we are in town.

The only possible negative aspect is the limited hours of operation and that there is always a line up. But the line up is cause they are so good that hordes of people go and not cause of slow service. They also have great beverage selection both hot and cold. Their London Fog is in my top 5 and I consider myself a London Fog addict. I am glad I do not live near by cause I would end up being like 400lbs if I had easy access to it. So good. They are prolly better and definitely more interesting than Tim Hortons. I see a bigger jump in the local ice cream shops than with Bigfoot and other donuts. The dough needs to hit this light and fluffy sweet spot for me. Maybe I was spoiled on other spectacular specialty donut shops so I'm a harder sell. Good quick service and long lines everyone else thinks they are the bomb so you should def try it out. And I'll retry them again and update this review depending on how it goes.

The order counter is at the back. It can be confusing if people are waiting for orders, the coffee comes up in the right side but I find people are kind of jostling/waiting and it's hard to tell who's in line when they're busy. Some people stand in front of the condiment/napkin station to by then you've had to say excuse me a couple of times. The Cortado is my go to and this one is strong and also quite substantial compared to say Parallel 49, which is tiny. I like that they ask you what strength of beans you'd prefer. They have a fresh sheet with menu items. I ordered the first thing on the list which was a Rosemary Rock Salt bagel with lox and arugula. The counter person told me it may take 15-20 mins to make the bagel. Almost like she didn't want me to order it?Fine I'm in no rush. Maybe the toasting takes time? The bagel was either not toasted or barely toasted with a very thin schmear of cream cheese, some fresh smoked salmon, lots of arugula and some small chopped red onion and a sprinkle of feta. The whole thing ate kind of 'dry' like it needed a spritz of olive oil and some acid, maybe a squeeze of lemon. The arugula was dry as a bone. Didn't offer any of the pepperiness you'd normally expect. For 15$ it was ok but def with a few tweaks it could've been delicious. I didn't try any baked goods. The inside ambiance is very friendly as lots of locals here and chatting, and due to the size of the space it was quite loud. Lots of seating at tables and some comfy seats as well.

I've been a little disappointed with brownies since I moved to the states, so I thought I would try out a Canadian version, to see if it could compare to the wonder of the brownies sold in London's Borough Market. Well, it didn't - but it was incredibly luscious. Chocolate icing on top and a surprise of biscuit (cookie) threaded through the brownie itself. I do like a bit of texture when I am chowing down. One brownie was probably a bit too rich for one person - but, I was alone - and I do hate seeing food go to waste. It's called taking one for the team, ok?

And the food is fantastic too, so that doesn't hurt ;) I was traveling solo to Courtenay last week, and Off Main had popped up in my search as a nice spot for a late brunch/lunch. When I went, I had to wait for about 10-15 minutes, and then I was seated at the same time as this retired couple by the window. It turns out they were regulars at this restaurant, which gave me confidence about how good the food would be--after all, who would be a regular at a horrible food establishment? I ordered a half size chicken and waffles. Super crispy chicken, silky hollandaise, and excellent house made hot sauce. Though the order took a long time to make (super busy day!), my server offered me a drink on the house to apologize. And throughout the meal, I got to chat with the couple seated next to me, which was also so lovely. After they left, one of the servers told me that they had paid for my meal. What an incredibly kind act. I left a thank you note with the staff, in hopes they will get it next time they're back.
