I'm on a quest to visit all the Yellow Delis. This is my second since being in BC. The maté tea is always delish, i had the green-unsweetened and a yellow submarine sandwich with the spread of the week; sun dried tomato! My sister had the veggie burger and my nephew some of the housemade (equally delicious) granola. The food is always yummy but I'm usually here for the exceptional customer service and interesting people i meet, they didn't disappoint. Chatted with Ben today, super friendly even had some chapstick made on the farm for me to try! It's super nice so make sure you grab one when you pay. On a trip to Courtney, The Yellow Deli was highly recommended to us. We thought it looked interesting from the outside, and decided to give it a try for brunch. An enchanting little restaurant is apparently known for its sandwiches and deserts. Interesting and home cabin style décor, we received a warm welcome when we arrived and were taken to our table. A couple of minutes after being seated. We waited no time for our server to take our order and had hot coffee within a minute or two. The service was friendly and efficient. The food didn't take long and was superb! The breakfast sandwich was excellent. The bread was made in house, the bacon was divine, and the home-made blueberry muffin was fresh and warm. It was a great experience and live in the Fraser Valley, we have since learned there is a Yellow Deli in Chilliwack. read more

This truly is common ground. Everything from the atmosphere to the awesome food, make this a place that everyone feels welcome enjoying a meal. The Staff are wonderful and very accommodating. The interior is something to behold, with the utmost attention to detail having been put into the intricately designed finishings. This is our go to place. Please don't come. Place is busy serving fresh homemade foods. The salads have all kinds of stuff in them. Cheese , crasens, sweet nut mixture. Ya awful. Fresh breads. You wouldn't like that with your salad. The Deli Rose. No good at all with all that meat and melting cheese. No don't try it. As for the desert. I have heard people go in rehab after the cheese pie. Not expensive and good home made breads and soups. Little nooks and crannies for seating inside the Courtenay yellow Deli makes it a nice place to go for conversation. Servers are friendly but not interfering. We've been a few times here and else where to a Yellow Deli. read more

I was about to go eat there one time then I saw a sing out front saying vaccine passport is not required so I decided not to go in.

Loved their Mango Máte (tea) and Cinnamon Bun. Absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced. This is a must-go.

It's like a hobbit cave: custom made wooden tables and remarkably comfortable bench seating and a fireplace makes this a cozy pLace for lunch. Bespoke sandwiches are excellent: try the chipotle chicken & the spinwich. The lentil soup was to die for and the pumpkins pie a nice finish. Wish they had ice cream to go on top. read more

Starting with their homemade soup to their homemade desserts this restaurant is well worth trying. Since I moved to the Comox Valley, I have tried many of the restaurants. What I have been finding is the inconsistently with the meals. Example: Ordering a meal that was delicious the first time going to the restaurant. Then going back there to find the same meal is less than pleasing. I am giving this restaurant a five star review. If I am taking a friend or friends out for lunch it is good to know that the service and the food will not disappoint. read more

This is the kind of lunch spot I'd come to weekly if I could . . . Healthy, lovingly prepared soups, salads and sandwiches. Almost everything is prepared in house here, I was told. Reasonably priced, good portions, and friendly, attentive service. Relaxing. I enjoyed a cup of house-made tomato cabbage soup, which was well balanced in flavour and nicely diced veg, not too much cabbage. Delicious. The cranberry-nut salad was a yummy chopped salad, plentiful with dried cranberries, nuts and other veg, choice of dressing. I recommend the house dressing - their smoother, lighter tasting version of thousand island. Two slices of lightly toasted multi-grain bread tasted fresh baked that day. My partner enjoyed a cup of yam ginger soup - thick, creamy, hint of ginger and coconut flavour accent. Then a fresh carved roast beef sandwich layered with crisp vegetables, and tangy horseradish on a house made bun. Came with dill pickle spear and potato chips. The interesting, cozy decor and careful wood construction of the restaurant interior is beautiful. Takes you away to another era - long, long time ago medieval feel. Very relaxing. Though we enjoyed lunch outside on the upper deck tier, pretty glass and bamboo look tables with comfy tropical cushions. Do you like Yerba Mate? Here is a restaurant that loves mate, with a variety of hot and cold blends. I enjoyed mine straight up. This is the best made on Island - a rich, robust, flavourful, green, properly prepared mate. I found out their secret: they run it through an espresso machine. Brilliant! Their in-house Mate Factor Brand mate is high quality, green leaf only - no sticks, stems, or smoke. Talked the BF into splitting the yam soup, cranberry nut salad & the deli rose sandwich. The yam soup was delectable, the salad was pretty nice except the bunches of seeds tasted a touch burnt but still good, the sammie was a bit sad. I don't like roast beef so I gave that to my BF to add to his half and I was surprised to find there was only 1 slice of Montreal smoked meat on there. And I should have eaten the sandwich 1st as the sauce made the bun quite a bit soggy. But the side bread that comes w/ the soup & salad (if you ask) is special. And the coconut pie was fantastic. Limited menu takes my rating down one notch from a five star, but food was very good. We had the deli rose sandwich and yam soup. Expected a bit more spice in the soup but it was pleasant tasting. Nice cozy decor added some extra warmth to a cold gloomy day. Word of warning- they advertise on their menu that their sandwiches are served hot- oh yes they are! It was hard not to bite into them right away as the onion bun it was served on smelled so delish, but be warned if you don't want to burn your lips. This restaurant is not licensed, but they do offer a variety of Yerba Mate teas, organic sodas ( I didn't get to try the pear- lavender in my haste to order one of their hand crafted ice teas) and coffees. We were too full to try dessert, but the cinnamon but that went past us on the way to another table looked terrific. read more

Nice food here! It is home cooked and the atmosphere is very nice. I just had the chance to visit as a visitor to Comox Valley! I liked the hand tooled interior design. Cocunut cream pie (or is it Banana cream?) was excellent. read more

I'm in Comox around 2-4 times a year for 2-6 days at a time and the only place I go to eat is this place, mainly because of the house dressing that's to die for. also the rest of the food is bang on so please never let it go out of business because I live for this place. read more
