Color Correction Treatment! I started using box hair color from Madison Reed back in 2018. I had never colored my hair myself prior but I was trying to save money and thought, "it can't be THAT hard". My hair was forgiving enough for the first year and then covid happened. I was already doing cuts and color myself so I kept doing it (read previous post). I continued until I found Victoria, she gave me an amazing hair cut but I couldn't really see all the beautiful layers because my hair was SO DARK. The box color said it would be a light brown but my hair eventually became dark and red!? I really did not like my hair anymore. I felt it aged me and made me look tired. I completely trusted her and decided I can invest in her fixing the mess I had made with the DIY hair color-in-a-box. SHE FIXED MY HAIR!! It took all day but my hair is healthy, and I LOVE the color! I was concerned with my hair being damaged by lightening but Victoria knows how the chemical reactions will work on hair and how to make sure the hair stays healthy. I am SO FREAKING HAPPY! She was able to use better products on my hair that left it feeling like it retained its integrity and was still soft. For the cut I really like long hair but I don't have a lot of volume, Victoria was able to change the way the layers were added to give me that fuller look and still have length. I got my hair done around a year ago and Victoria was very nice and professional. I had originally asked for a partial balayage and showed her a picture of my inspo. She had me in for consult knowing what I had wanted was a partial balayage. Later on, when we texted she suggested a full highlight which wasn't what I wanted. When I went in, I reminded her what I wanted done she said we should do a full balayage. I reluctantly agreed thinking that my hair would be similar to the picture I showed her. Almost 7 hours later, my hair had looked almost the same compared to what I first had when I walked in. My goal was to lighten it but after toner, it was extremely orange and I had asked her to tone it again, which she agreed to. My hair then was dark again after the tone but at least it wasn't as orange. The next day I had it curled and it seemed fine. After my first wash (meaning my hair would've been straight again,) I could see that the color was uneven, splotchy, and brassy. Although her work looks good on herself and others, I wouldn't recommend those with dark hair to go to her. I just had wished she would've been honest with me with the results I would've gotten. read more

Back story: I have tortured my hair. Over at least the last four years I've been box dying. It all went well... until it didn't. I switched up colors and went with a redder tone. When I hated it, I went black. There was no escape from the black dye. I was stuck. Another hair dresser told me my best option was to grow it out. (My hair is long). I tried root dying my roots a lighter brown. It got worse and worse. I booked a consult with Vika and she created a plan in detail for me. I didn't know if I could believe it. Worst case scenario we have to chop a bunch off and I guess I dye over the top of it. At my appointment I told her I was nervous, she reassured me she was not and got to work. I must say she's so kind I eventually relaxed. (Still pretty confident there was no fixing the mess I created). When she started coloring my brain kept racing to wondering how bad the banding would be. As the color started revealing itself I sat in utter silence. I'm sure she was wondering what was wrong. When I could finally form words, the first word was "How?" Lol. How did you do this? She's a miracle worker. Other hair dressers that wouldn't touch it. She completely transformed it to a beautiful head of hair. It's been a few days before I wrote this because I feel like I'm still waiting for some color to wash out and something to reveal itself... She knows so much about hair! Victoria is really amazing, this is by far the best haircut I've ever gotten, my hair is fine and was color treated the last couple years and it has some serious split ends but I want to keep the length and she is An expert at that! Vika cares about your hair health, and she'll make you look really good too. The Experience: First we talked about what I want for my hair and the issues I'm having with it. She incorporates that into the products she uses throughout the session, like my dry scalp and oily hair. She really takes her time and focused on you, and she doesn't have a one-size-fits-all approach. In fact, she used a mousse she liked a lot for others, then when she saw it wasn't working for my hair type, she chose to re-wash my hair and use different product. She changed the shampoos she used, which I ended up buying because of how incredibly clean my hair felt afterwards. In the end, I walked out of The Hideaway with a verified miracle: ruler straight heavy hair transformed into curls that had more bounce than a trampoline. And they held up beautifully the next day and stayed wavy! They weren't hard and my hair was so soft and healthy looking, that day and the next. The Space: The Hideaway is functional and beautiful. It's a very clean, single salon with space for a friend or two if you want extra company, so during Covid that is a real comfort. If you're fully vaccinated, you can take off your mask, but Vika keeps hers on for safety. When Vika washes your hair, she changes the lighting and sets your feet on a little pouf... it's adorable and you should experience it for yourself! The Cosmetologist: Vika (Vee-kah, short for Victoria) has great customer service. She's very sweet! She's also a great teacher. I didn't grow up knowing much about hair and makeup, so I asked if Vika could teach me to curl my own hair. She spent the time to walk me through types of curlers, blow dryers, the process overall, then how to physically style the hair. She's a lady on a budget too, so she doesn't always recommend the most expensive product, and she knows how to make the chemicals work for you in a budget-friendly way. Products: The Hideaway uses Kevin Murphy products (effective, environmentally friendly, diverse, affordable), and Vika will give you the real real for your hair: use this one a little more and you don't need the second one, and if you don't like this brand, here are three others that know what they're doing, and these are the ingredients that work. She really knows her stuff, even outside of her preferred brand. A lot of the products she sells are around the $30 mark for full-size bottles, and she doesn't pressure you into buying them.
