The facility is located in the old Burlington Coat Factory, and there's lots of wide open space with clearly marked zones to keep folks safe. Dogs on leashes are allowed to accompany you inside, and you're welcome to bring your own folding chair. Several different ranges with targets at multiple distances. There's a practice range for beginners at a 9m distance, and you borrow the club's equipment. There are several coaches on hand, an excellent ratio actually of about 1 to 3 or four, to help you learn proper technique and maintain safety. While they have fun at this place, it's very clear that they want everyone to be safe and learn the right way to shoot a bow and arrow. You can also sign up for an individual membership or a family membership. Those are $50 and $100 accordingly. We went on two consecutive Saturday mornings at 8:30 and had such a great time with excellent coaching. We definitely got better over those two times. We decided it was now time to join with a family membership. You can earn badges once you become a member through the US archery Association and you're also eligible for discounts on equipment when purchased through the club. It's important to note that this is a nonprofit. All the coaches volunteer as do the managers who run the place. That says a lot about their dedication and commitment to the sport. There are range of times during the week and weekends that you can sign up as a member for open shoots and they also sponsor their own tournaments. Open shoots are set for Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Earning badges is usually set for Saturday afternoons. All of the coaches we encountered were super friendly and very thoughtful and providing feedback on technique for each individual. Well, things got a little busy and before I knew it I was bogged down with work and school. Thanks to Cara for posting up the Learn to Row info up on Yelp and giving me that little extra push to head down there now that I have more time. The LTR program goes over one day (about 7:30 - 2) and covers everything beginners need to know about rowing on the river in Cleveland (and it also reminds a few of us who have done it before of things we may have forgotten). A little bit of a classroom session with Erik and then down for a boathouse tour and some work on the erg's before hitting the water. The boathouse is beautiful.....and they just moved in a little while ago after the old boathouse burned down. They have a lot of room here and are working hard to improve the area and make it into a Riverfront Park that everyone can enjoy. Lots of room for boats (so many places row out of here: high schools, colleges and universities along with the master rowers and private members). The only thing that I wish the boathouse had, is a nice indoor rowing tank, then it would be complete! For the rest of the day, you'll be out on the water in your 8 with a couple of experienced rowers and a coxswain along with your coach alongside in the launch. They'll teach you everything basic about getting the boat in and out of the water and the fundamentals of the stroke.....and how not to get run over or swamped by the 7-story high ships that come down the Cuyahoga! After such a fantastic day out on the water, I knew I had to sign up for the rest of the summer....these people are fantastic, in reality, it seems more like the Hash House Harriers...they're a "social club with a rowing problem". The group camaraderie was so amazing that I even convinced a fellow Yelper to join up with me too....and I anticipate an excellent summer out on the water! They still have two more Learn to Row programs before the summer rowing league starts up so come on out and give it a try ;o)

If you're a first-time racer, they do a quick safety briefing to walk you through the track rules and what each flag means, which was super helpful. The staff were friendly and made everything easy to understand. The course itself is fun and pretty easy to get the hang of, but don't underestimate how fast some of the other drivers are! I'd definitely recommend staying on the right side if you're not trying to race aggressively, people will fly past you. Also, use your brakes when cutting corners to keep control. Overall, it's a really fun and well-run experience, perfect for groups or anyone looking for a bit of adrenaline without it being too intense.

I remember texting my friend Vlad because I was so excited to use the sauna at the Strongsville Rec. Center. He said that I probably would find Russian men in the sauna which I did, 2 of them (apparently Russians love saunas which is cool...haha). I am writing this review a year later, in Feb. 2025. A day pass cost me about $10, if I can remember correctly. I like that this option exists because I don't have to join as a member to use the gym and sauna. GYM/POOL/SAUNA -- At the upstairs gym, I used the stair master and walking track. I also noticed that they have a weights room downstairs but I didn't use it because I didn't have a lot of time. I then used the sauna and steam room downstairs. I stayed in the sauna for about 10 mins and I stayed in the steam room for about 5 mins. The sauna is very small but manageable. There were 3 men in there when I entered. I appreciate that there is a camera inside incase of any emergencies. The steam room is a bit bigger which felt nice. It feels good to be spaced out between people. TIPS -- I recommend bringing a towel to sit on while you're in the Sauna and Steam room. Bring a water bottle too. Also, bring a padlock and key to lock your bag and clothes in the changing room (locker room). I didn't bring a lock because I didn't realize that I would need one so I carried my wallet with me while I used the gym and sauna. Now that it is winter as I'm writing this review, I want to return to the sauna and steam room. The whole gym and pool/sauna area gets very crowded so I recommend that you arrive early.
