We stayed at the Highland House Hotel in August '11 with the new owners Angela and Tom having just taken over in June. The name is a little deceiving as this is a B&B rather than a hotel Angela and Tom were congenial enough but there were two big issues - The hot water was turned off in the afternoon until 8am in the morning! We had arrived late in Callendar and my mother wanted to clean up before going to bed but they refused to turn the hot water on. - Despite advertising both on the website and on their front door that discounts were offered for stays of three nights or more. We stayed 4 nights and Tom refused to honour the advertised discount. Apparently having a 19 month old in a cot (also advertised online as no charge) meant we had some freebies thrown in! As first timers, I think they are still working things out and hopefully things will improve. They did provide us with a cot and let us store baby food in the fridge but these are things that I would expect as a rule especially if advertised and requested beforehand. Also telling customers that they are awkward is not the best way to endear themselves, especially as hot water is a fairly fundamental part of a B&B! read more
