Last night my husband and I saw the new production of The Revolutionists. Previously, I worked and…read moretaught theater make-up, costuming and sets, and my husband was an actor and director. The script has great potential, but we were disappointed with the production. One actress screamed her way through the play, and the repeated knife jabbing was far too much. One actress, Andrea Frankle, was terrific in the role of Marie. The others lacked finesse and nuance in their character developments. Kudos to the set, lighting and costumer designers which were terrific. And finally, the most disappointing was from the Director. Some of staging was confusing and unnecessary, and often didn't allow the actresses to communicate well. If you are unfamiliar with the repertory theater, try them out. But for this production, I'd rate them 2.5 stars out of 5.

We saw the "J-Lo and Friends" (Juliette Gordon Lowe) show and it was amazing! The girls had so much fun before the show learning about the puppets and their history from Angela, during the show learning even more about the founder of the Girl Scouts in a fun, interactive environment, and after when the girls got to try out some of Angela's puppets. It was so much fun watching the girls express themselves through the puppets. When asked about their favorite activity during our trip, this was definitely at the top of the list. I am so glad that we discovered this gem of a show and plan to spread the word in my area so that other troops will get the opportunity to participate and watch with Angela and her people. My husband and I tried the Valentines Day "Sit and Spin" workshop and had a blast! Clair is the owner and lead instructor and was HILARIOUS. She should seriously be a stand up comedian. She was cracking jokes and making sure everyone had a great time. I was a little nervous my husband wouldn't like it as I am the crafty/artsy one in the family. But he got really into it...trying to "muscle" the clay and shape it into perfection. We got competitive with it. He was laughing with Clair the whole time. We messed up a lot. But the instruction was clear and delivered in such a fun way. We got to create something to take home...and will be such a great conversation piece in our house. It was a large group of kids and adults so along with that comes your to be expected noise. They allow you to bring your own catering and there were several stations and tables set up with different crafts. Depending on the size of your party, parking may be an issue to keep in mind. My wrangler Grace was very personable and knowledgeable. We had a very nice walk around the beautiful property as I learned about the history of the farm and shared riding experiences with Grace. I really enjoyed my time with her and when the ride was over she allowed me some time to visit with the other horses and answered any questions I had about the Equestrian program at the farm. I highly recommend visiting these folks if you are in the area.
