Went to the store at 9 am on a Sunday. Employee at the customer service desk looked at us, then looked away. No hello, nothing. Walked through paint, plumbing, flooring and electrical. Saw no employees anywhere. I guess they all take breaks at the same time. Left buying nothing. read more

We recently contacted Home Depot to provide an estimate for kitchen cabinet fronts. We were redirected to the Home Improvement Store as apparently, Home Deport subs out the work. Made an in-home appointment for a review and estimate. The individual showed up, took a look, did not take pictures or measurements and said he had it all "in his head". He left and we have not heard from him/the company since. No estimate let alone a call or email. That was 4 weeks ago. I've tried contacting Home Depot to provide them with this information as it appears that we are not alone in our criticism. This reflects very poorly for Home Depot but with all of the comments and issues, they apparently do not care. I called To ask about a product's availability and was on hold for approximately 40 minutes. It's virtually impossible to speak to someone at this Home Depot in a timely manner. The associate I finally spoke to was helpful and answered my question but was unable to process a purchase for me by phone (this was a $550.00 purchase). Seems strange that there is no system in place for a customer to purchase over the phone. I had to go to the store to make the purchase. There wasn't an associate in the department I was shopping so I went looking for one. I found 4 associates talking with each other at the self check outs (perhaps they could be answering phones so I don't have to wait for 40 minutes!! After all, it's the SELF CHECKOUT lane). I waited for them to quit talking and notice me, one finally did! The associate was brought over to the item I was interested in and I was attempting to explain my earlier conversation about color availability when she got snotty with me about how the colors have different sku numbers! Really? Sorry, I interrupted your associate gab session but listen when someone is speaking to you and don't be rude. I made the purchase because it's a Christmas present but future Home Depot purchases will be few and far between. read more

I've been this Home Depot several times and have had good and bad experiences. Tonight I had a very bad experience. There's were paint samples on sale online. ALL colors I tried to order online were out of stock. I showed the paint counter lady the ad from online. She called her manager who said they would honor the online price since they were unavailable. Went home, brought in color list and then SHE DID NOT HONOR PRICE for the samples to be the sale price. Very dismissive and rude. Said no after I had come back with color picks and then started talking to a different customer. Didn't ask to see manager because bottom line: MENARDS has better prices, better sales and more helpful team members. Don't go here, just don't. P.S. I'm painting an entire house, ceiling and walls... around $1000 in paint and painting supples. read more

This Home Depot is OK. It seems like many of the times I shop here, I am a bit disappointed though. They have a huge selection and are good for most of your home remodeling/repair needs. I have found a few areas which are not their strong suit however. 1. Matching paint. They definitely need some work in this department. I brought in a large sample of interior paint to have them match it so that I could do some touch up painting. Well, the color "match" was so far off, that instead of doing a few little touch-ups, I had to repaint the entire room. This was unfortunate, because then I didn't have enough paint to finish the whole room. Easy enough... I'll just bring in the same container that I purchased from them with the computer code on the label and buy the exact same thing. Easier said than done. Once the paint dried, it clearly did not match the paint that I purchased from them before. What a hassle. 2. I would definitely not recommend purchasing or having carpet installed by the Home Depot. Nothing but problem after problem after problem. It took forever, only one of the several employees that I spoke to really seemed concerned with getting the project done in a timely manner, and the quality of the installation really was not that great. 3. I really haven't been too impressed with the quality or selection of bathroom fixtures and hardware. A few of the employees in that department really didn't seem like they were working in their area of expertise and weren't all that helpful. Let me start by saying this is the closest Home Depot for me to shop at. It is 2 hours from my home. I was in the market to purchase a new refrigerator. I visited the store twice, getting a hands on view of the models that they had on display. I did alot of online research and narrowed my choices. I was there 5 days ago and spoke to a young man, who could not answer any of my questions regarding the refrigerators. Home depot does offer delivery, so I went home and called the store when I was ready to make my purchase. I had read online that it was better to call a store, than purchase online. I was hoping to get someone who was knowledgable. What I got was 3-4 minutes of being transferred to the appliance department and then sent back when no one answered the call, multiple times. I finally got "Debbie". Debbie informed me that Home Depot will not do free delivery to my home. I figured that and said I was willing to pay for delivery. Debbie informed me that I was "out of the zone" for delivery and that it would cost $80 for the first 59 miles and then $3.50 for every mile after that. Ok,sounds a little high priced at just under $300 for me, but I understand it's a bit of a drive. I try to move on and "Debbie" tells me that the delivery will only be "Store to curb." After alot of asking questions and "Debbie" not answering except to say "It's store to curb", I got the explanation that they contract with another company. There is "no way", according to "Debbie" to get a refrigerator brought in my house and hooked up. I told "Debbie" that I am not physically capable of carrying a refrigerator into my house. I asked if there was a way to pay more. Debbie said "no". Debbie's suggestion was, "Well you can get some people to do it." After more verbal gymnastics, I asked "Debbie", "So what your saying is there is no way for me to buy any major appliance from Home Depot?" I got more of the same "you can pick it up at the store" or I could "get someone." Obviously, by the information I had already given, I am not physically capable of "picking it up at the store" and I don't have "some people", so eventually "Debbie" said, "Yes." My end result was I shopped at Sears, who was willing to delivery it to me, bring it in the house and hook it up. I love Home Depot and all the wonderful things I find when I walk through the store, but I am very soured on Home Depot right now. If there is someone looking for a start up business, opt for deliveries from companies that are unwilling to satisfy customers even when they are willing to pay them. Your business could pick up at store and deliver and charge the ridiculous fees that Home Depot is charging and actually deliver the item into the house, not leave it on the curb. read more

We had purchased a Samsung refrigerator for my daughter in the twin cities at a Home Depot store near her. There were issues with the refrigerator and I was getting nowhere with Samsung honoring the warranty. In desperation, I went to the Duluth Home Depot store near my own home to ask for advice and Dave in the appliance department was able to help me. He stepped in- right then and there to and call Samsung directly... and got them to correct the situation. This store had no obligation to us for what happened with a purchase in another store, yet Dave went the extra mile to help a customer out and I can never thank him enough. Selection of products is one thing, but customer service is what really matters. I shop at Home Depot and will continue to do so. I would recommend this store to anyone. read more

Today at 8 AM I ordered an Air Conditioner for pick up. The site said that there are 5 in stock, which typically would me that there are 5 currently in the store. I figured I may as well order it for pick up just to make sure I get it. After I buy the thing for $250 I get an email saying not to come to the store until I get an email saying that it's ready for me. So I was thinking it'd be a chill 20 minutes to an hour and then I could go and grab it. I sit around until 1 PM and I finally decide to ask what on earth is going on. I use the customer service via text to figure out when I can pick the thing up because I have been sitting in my apartment for 3 days dripping in sweat. The person I talked to made me confirm my name and address and what not like 3 times, taking at least 15 minutes in between every response, but finally I get confirmation that they are "picking my item." I ask how long it will probably be and I get the response "I don't know but I was given a time frame of 2 hours." I thought well I've already been sitting here for 5 hours what's 2 more. Then an hour and a half after that I get a call and they tell me it's on a trailer with 9 THOUSAND other items and I won't get it until tomorrow. Long story short I will never be buying anything from this Home Depot ever again. A MAYBE 2 hour process turned into over 24 hours. Thanks guys!!! read more
