This location is one of the biggest I've seen in New York. However, despite there being little to no customer traffic, there were no cashiers available, resulting in unnecessarily long lines. The service was terrible--no shade. I had to walk all the way to the other side of the store before I finally found an employee. As I began asking him about the item I was looking for, two other employees suddenly appeared and rudely interrupted our conversation to discuss another customer. The employee I was speaking to completely dismissed me and joined in their already inappropriate conversation. There I stood, clutching my pearls, because I know this is not the behavior Home Depot should want to promote or have customers experience. I was honestly appalled. All three of them looked at me with disgust, and the one who was supposed to help me actually said, "Do you mind?" while rolling his eyes. Excuse me? I left my full cart right there and walked out. Sorry, but a busy location like the Manhattan 23rd Street store never fails to provide great customer service--unlike this ghost-town location with long lines and terrible service. They have a great selection...most of the time. Customer service is hit or miss, feast or famine... Either you'll get an employee who is very knowledgeable and helpful or you'll get...trash customer service (which seem to be behind a lot of these 1-star reviews). Stopped by for a couple of things this morning. The first couple of employees I spoke to were GREAT! Very helpful, cool, professional, all good things. The guy at the service desk...ugh. UPDATE: Home Depot reached out and shared a link where I could elaborate. I'm unable to do so without providing my phone number and email. I'll just elaborate here... One of the reasons I'd stopped by was to begin the process of having a new security door installed. I was directed to the service desk at the front of the store. The young (white Hispanic?) man working there was on the computer when I approached. I asked who I can speak to re: having the door installed. He seemed inconvenienced. His whole vibe was, "why are you bothering me?" I looked to see if there was anyone else at the desk who could assist but it was just him. He asked me to wait a moment. No problem. He then asked if I had the model number of the door I wanted. I brought it up on my phone and showed it to him. He looks and says, "we don't have that in stock. It says so right here." I was taken aback by his tone. He'd asked what door I was interested in and I showed him. I didn't examine the page to see if it was available or not. He could've told me that it was not in stock and said, if you ever want to know if an item is in stock, you could look here, or something to that effect. The way he said, "it says so right here" was rude and condescending. Direct, to the point, or even curt, is one thing. But the young man at the Home Depot service desk was just rude. Maybe he was having a bad day at 10:30am. I came home and reached out to other companies to install my door. If that young man is what I'll have to deal with to have my door installed by Home Depot, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Oh! I might also add comments from a couple of co-workers who live in the area and have visited this Home Depot. They no longer feel comfortable going there because of the migrants hanging out there. They'll either visit a Home Depot in the city or order from Amazon. Let's end on a high note... As I've mentioned, they have a good selection. Their hours are great (6am-10pm, most days). This is just another Home Depo location nothing special. I've never had problems shopping here but I did notice a lot of times when you ask the employees for help they seem to be really bothered like they're doing you a huge favor, I mean who else am I supposed to ask right? Also a lot of times it's even hard to find anyone to help you and once the employee actually goes down the aisle people before you ambush them with questions. On the bright side the have a huge parking lot and are located next to a major highway so it's easier to get and leave from here. Literally I had 9 people trying to put flooring in my car, I never asked for help. I am screaming at them to stop and they continued. Until I had to push one away and yell at them to stop. They are trying to scam me. Ordered a toilet online and it came broken. Had to call 6 times for them to answer and when they did they said they don't want to come pick it up. Finally, I got someone to send the people to pick up the broken toilet. I asked for a refund email and they said they would send after they pick it up. Been 2 weeks and 30 calls later still no email or refund. Stay away from these scammers. read more

This is the home depot that I always go to. Physically, it's not as big as the one on Northern Blvd but it's also not as busy. It might seem of an oxymoron, but I've found this store to have more things in stock than the bigger one on Northern Blvd. Whenever I order online to pick up, the front counter people are always helpful and there is rarely a line. I ordered a bathtub and went to pick it up. It was all the way up in the racks and they told me to come back tomorrow. I needed it that night since I had workers coming to install it in the morning so they went out of there way to get the tub down right then and there. read more

Hands down worst Home Depot. Unfortunately this is the Home Depot closest to my house. The paint and closet department is just terrible, nobody is ever working there, and when you ask for someone they tell you "someone is coming." very disappointed will not recommend none of these 3 following stores at all on october 21,2023 i purchase door trims to be delivered on monday the 23, from the bulova location, my order was routed to the long island city store who claim will be able to deliver on the 24, the 24 at exactly 7 p.m. got text that order had be rescheduled for delivery on the 25, and today at exactly 10:16 am got another tex my delivery it have been rescheduled that someone will call me. so i call now my order got rerouted to the flushing location 131-35 avery ave flushing, ny 11355. the person i spoke with had no answers at all. could not tell me i ask for store manager name refuse to tell me name or put call thru. now i have been trying to get in touch with the bulova store manager mr. castro and it been impossible really this home depot stores have become very unreliable, un-responsible unprofessional do not use them at all !!!!! read more

Is this the gardening department?" "No. I'll transfer you" ~music~ "Hello?" "Hi! Is this the gardening department?" (same person I've been speaking with now talking to other people): "Yo! She want's gardening!" Went on hold for 15 minutes. Hung up, called again, selected, then asked, for the gardening department. Put on hold again for 5 minutes. Someone picks up, I ask if this is the gardening department. "No". Transferred again. Finally, a bright, happy sounding woman answers and says YES, this is the gardening department. Hallelujah! I ask if they carry Thai basil. She says yes! Out of the two nearby Home Depot's in Western Queens this is the better one, but it ain't great. Compared to the many Home Depots that ive visited in the past, I must say that this is the best one. It is most likely because of the location because it is in a huge parking lot next to Bed Bath & Beyond in a not so busy area of Jackson Heights...actually when coming off the BQE, you can almost miss it if you dont take a sharp right into the parking lot. There is always more than enough parking and it is rarely ever busy. I come in here quite often for household items and tools for work..prices are always reasonable and there is always someone available to help you find anything that you need. Thanks to the self check out (about 6 stations), there is rarely a line and enough cashiers working who actually look to ring you up if they see you waiting. The majority of employees that work here are pleasant and eager to assist you and that it is a huge plus when shopping. Avoid going to the over crowded location in Astoria on Northern Blvd and definitely give this one a try! read more

Pretty bad customer service here. I bought a couple of plastic bins for moving purposes, but the lids I took from the shelf above didn't quite fit when I tried them at home. My fault for not checking, I suppose - but also the store's fault for mismatching them in the first place. When I tried to return the wrong lids - with a clearly labeled receipt indicating what the correct lids would be - nobody was helpful. First the staff gave me new lids that were about 50% too large. When I pointed this out, the staff petulantly changed their tune and suddenly said I wasn't allowed to return the lids without also exchanging the boxes. One guy walked away after refusing to help me and took my receipt with him, so I had to chase him down to get it back. Now I'm stuck with mismatched boxes and lids. It'd try to go a third time, but that whole aisle is so chaotic - with nothing clearly labeled or properly arranged - that I'd probably end up with the wrong thing yet again. Thanks for the useless purchase, guys. Of course the store now also has mismatched merchandise, so you'd think they would have motivation to actually be helpful. Oh, well - live and learn. Next time, I'll try a mom and pop hardware store and skip this corporate nonsense. read more

It's really hard for me to write this review in a kind manner at this point! So two days ago I buy $250 worth of outdoor solar lights , I get home all excited to fancy up my backyard and FOUR boxes had broken products and 2 boxes had missing parts , ok I'm already upset that I have to return this stuff . Now I go back the following day (today) and return those boxes and get new ones and also grabbed a spinning disco ball because my 3 yr old was in love with it , so we get home and my baby is excited to put on her new spinning lamp so we put it together , plug it in and guess what yelpers ?! The damn thing isn't spinning ! So not only do we have a disappointed adult from the previous day but now I have a screaming 3 year old crying cause her spinning awesome star light isn't spinning ! It's easy to say I'm am DONE with this location! I don't have enough time in my life to waste on purchasing bad/defective items and returning them , they need to stay on top of their merchandise better and better management , I mean what are the chances I get so many things in two days that are either not working , broken or missing basic parts ?! C'mon now ! Get with the program dudes ! Btw I'm writing this review and still haven't opened the boxes of the new solar lights I purchased today ! Came by to duplicate keys and was disappointed by the service. Out of three keys, we were told that one was going to be impossible to duplicate since it wasn't a standard size. When we went to another HD, they said it was a standard size 66 and were able to do it without issue. When I got back home, tested the new keys and turns out that it was copied wrong and wouldn't fit into the keyhole. When I went back with the receipt, the servicewoman tried to charge me again. It wasn't until someone higher than her said something that we were given a new copy (that worked) and were able to leave. On top of that, there are certain items this location just doesn't have in stock since it's a smaller store. I'm always given the option to reserve it at another store, but what's the point? I'll just go to another store to start off with next time. read more

Although this Home Depot is smaller and has fewer selection than the other Home Depot nearby, it is very clean and organized. The plants are healthy and the stock is updated unlike other Home Depots. I wanted to purchase cactus soil from the store on Northern Blvd but there was none to be found despite the website saying it was available, however I was able to find it in this store. Absolutely the worst Home Depot location. I am accustomed to Home Depot employees being unknowledgeable on there products, but this is a new low. Majority of the employees here do not conduct themselves in a professional manor, lounging around the business as if they were on the corner of the block hanging out. I have seen employees more engage with there own conversations with each other, then helping customers. What job is better then this they get paid to gossip with each other. They need a new staff this location has potential, they need to start firing & throw out the trash! The location itself is always empty with a huge parking lot right next to a bed bath & beyond. FYI don't even try to bother getting your keys made here, first you need to find a employee that is not gossiping with another employee (when you approach them they give that look *You don't see me having a conversation with my fellow associate*). This Home Depot location has a private parking lot, everything here is very organized and overall a very clean Home Depot. The reason for the 2 stars is due to the employees, they rather talk among themselves or try to hide so they don't have to deal with customer service. The worst part is when you do find someone to help you, you will be lucky if they ain't as lost as you are. What is the issue with the male workers wearing there jeans correctly, instead of half way down on there behind. It's give a visual effect like they just took a major dump in there pants. I loathe Home Depots. They used to be filled with knowledgeable craftspeople, but are now overrun with employees who seem to embody the "depot" more than the "home." This place isn't bad. As you will likely see in other reviews (including mine), the Home Depot on Northern Blvd. is a place where happiness goes to die. It is atrocious. Here, you can usually find someone to help you. The people who man the cutting/mixing/service stations throughout the store tend to know their stuff. And they have not replaced 80% of the cashiers with non-functional auto-check out machines. Between the large parking lot, small lines, and Bed, Bath & Beyond next door, it's hard to think of what the average apartment-dweller couldn't find in this shopping center. read more

I usually wouldn't review a place like this but I thought I had to do my due diligence. I had an issue that needed solving and I spoke with a gentleman whom we'll call G (for anonymity). I just have to say that he went above and beyond to help me find a solution to my problem. He took the time and walked me to and from multiple isles to come up with a solution. He really exhibited tons of patience and at no point in time was he annoyed at my questions or the amount of time it took to help me. I wish more people were like him and I hope his personality and mannerism permeates through their workforce. He deserves recognition and a raise! read more

Is half a star a choice? We wanted custom blinds for our new apartment so we decided to go to Home Depot to check out their selection. In the back of my mind I thought blinds to go was a better choice but seeing that HD was less than a mile away I figured we would go there instead. As we walked the aisles we noticed that our measurements fell short to the standard blind sizes so we had to order custom blinds. We needed 4 windows total and the living room is a double so one long blind would suffice. We selected all the options, colors, sizes, and the total was near $350ish. They told us that it would take 2-3 weeks to deliver to the store. I picked them up, carried them to the apt, opened them to only find that the length and width were reversed on our living room blinds and one of our of our bedroom blinds was defective. Went back, re-ordered living room blinds waited another 20 days, went back again to reorder the defective blind which was our third trip..waited 16 days, finally opened the last package and to no avail, the size was right but, instead of the twisty pole to open/close it came with a cord, not matching our existing blinds but it fit so we figured, fuck it. That entire process was such a pain in the ass you have no idea. Not to mention, every time we returned and reordered, we ended up paying more?!?! Mind you we live in jackson heights and parking and re-parking our car after every trip was a nightmare! I don't see how they could mess up our order as everything was entered into the computer screen while we were there. Smh, next time I will go with my gut and go to blinds to go. The plus side of that Home Depot is the location, parking lot and the staff was actually friendly. The shopping cart guy was really nice and always said hi to us. Ps. Do not try calling the store, you will get transferred to about 10 different people, workers that make minimum wage do not care about answering the phone or directing you to the proper department but I don't blame them. read more

Came to this location on December 27th, it was pretty quiet after Christmas, seemed like there were more employees in the store than customers. We wanted to buy a fridge, picked the one we liked, waited for anyone to help us, nobody would come and ask if we needed assistance. We saw four employees chatting near by, asked them for help, they sent us to the front. Went to the front and were told to wait by the fridge area, they were going to send someone. Waited another 10 minutes, asked two more employees for help, they called someone on the phone but after another 10 minutes we had enough and walked away. Ended up buying the fridge from PC Richards in college point, their staff was so much more attentive. Read a few other reviews and seems like it's a continuous problem, and management doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. Don't shop here if you value your time, because they don't, and have no interest in getting your business read more

Not helpful over the phone... Called to get some early information about sod this spring. They get 2 stars because they actually picked up the phone (LIC HD did not, even when I called twice). Problem is, the guy on the phone had no idea what sod was and when it would be in store. He said that he'd go find someone who knew & hung up on me. Boo. Maybe you have to be in-store for the good customer service, but that's not helpful if you don't live nearby. read more

4 stars for being way, way better than the nearby Home Depot in Long Island City. This one is tucked away with a Bed Bath & Beyond, which I never really thought about before, but it's actually quite a winning combination. The line for mixing paint moves at a reasonable pace. The self-checkout scanners actually work. The guy who sells custom doors really knows his stuff -- my boyfriend and I got stuck talking to him for 30+ minutes, but he was very friendly and helpful, which is more than I can say for the employees at the LIC location. I have vowed to only return to this Home Depot when I need to pick up hardware-related items. read more
