Saturday morning there seemed to be more than an abundance of employees. Nice to see the isle floors getting washed. Can a manager over there please remind the employees that they are working, and shouldn't gather around to hang out with each other? Also, the extra employees loitering around the checkout don't serve a purpose, especially if they just stare and don't even greet customers. Paint department was left unattended for about ten minutes while three employees were huddled in conversation around the corner- not really inviting to help. I seemed to scare one just because I approached with a question. They actually jumped and let out a small scream. Super weird. Very strange behavior. read more

Unfortunately, we continue to guess how many more boxes and packing tape that we need as we pack up our home for the big move to KY. Today my Rose Of Sharon bloomed. It was the wrong color. I ordered a White Chiffon and I got a pink Rose of Sharon. Not that I dislike it or anything, but when you order something and pay for it you expect to get what you ordered, right? And if you get a plant that has no blooms you don't know what color the blossoms will be so if the person who fills the order doesn't bother to check so it's going to be a potluck for the consumer. So I am very disappointed since the white was purchased for a reason. Thanks Home Depot, you messed up again! read more

I purchased a Ryobi mower from here last year. It has less than 10 running hours on it. It stopped working. It is under warranty. Ryobi said to have local Ithaca, NY store repair it. Repair told me would be a one day repair. It has now been 5 days. After 2 days, I was told "working on it" and would get back to me. Never called back. On Wednesday, I was told the guy who does repairs is not back in until Friday and no one else has any idea where my mower is, status of repair, if it has to be sent to ryobi, NOTHING!! Ryobi basically told me not their problem, they don't know what the store is doing! I can't believe no one can give me any info!! My grass is not getting any shorter! Most likely  the LAST time I will be using Home Depot for major purchase or repair! LAST Ryobi product I buy! read more

Buyer Beware!!! First, let me say that I have done all my home improvement business with Home Depot since 2017. We did a complete renovation on our home, including new kitchen, flooring for entire home, paint for entire interior and exterior, addition of 3 decks, and numerous landscaping projects. This past year I purchased some vinyl plank flooring. I was aware of the 90 day return policy. Near the 90 days I returned several boxes because we did not need as much as originally purchased. The amount needed to complete the job was uncertain because of some unknown factors. I specifically asked if I could return more of the flooring at a later date if it turned out that it was needed. I was told it would not be a problem but that I get store credit rather than my money back. That was ok with me. Several weeks later the project was complete and I had 4 boxes of flooring to return. To my surprise and dismay Home Depot would only let me return one box for store credit. I was stuck with the remaining 3 boxes. Why they could take one box back and not all remains a mystery. Even the store manager did not have authority to override the "policy". This is flooring that they carry on a regular basis and could and would resell. All boxes were unopened and in perfect condition - that had nothing to do with this transaction. It was a totally nonsensical policy. Long story short....they have lost a very loyal customer. Have had over 30 appliance deliveries over the years; WORST DELIVERY EVER. Installers looked for every opportunity to avoid delivery; I had to help them with water sources; electrical power, etc. They informed me that they had never seen this model before and weren't sure how to do it (not what a customer wants to hear). I asked them to check the dishwasher before leaving; they left without telling me they were leaving and the dishwasher not working with an error signal (beeping). I had to show them how valves were open and closed based on the valve handle position. Kitchen was filthy, drill bits left on the counter, did not take old parts and left them scattered throughout kitchen; dirty towels; one of them had a family event and was in a hurry to drop and go than do the installation. Called Bosch and Home Depot immediately with complaint. Don't want either installer in my house again; installers should focus on installing the product vice looking for a way to avoid delivery. This was a waste of an installation fee and I should have my money refunded. read more

Lowes is better, Home Depot makes their employees throw most scrap wood and cut off ends in the garbage. The culled lumber Home Depot does sell is basically non-usable for 70 percent off. However it is nice that they rent trucks. Lowes stopped doing that. read more

I don't know why I wrote the things I said three years ago. This place is not so different from Lowe's. My shopping experience here today was less than optimal. After all, it's a big chain box store. I was looking for only two items but thanks to the misdirection (by the customer service), rudeness (of a man of the painting department who condescended on me), and poor management (I was told the item I picked to buy was somehow "unsellable" with a bar code crossed out and I had to go back to the other end of the store to get the same item), it took me more than half an hour to get out of the store. I also want to add that, you should check a phone app called Goods Unite Us to see both Home Depot and Lowe's scores - they are competing lows with each other: Home Depot's score is -72, while Lowe's -71. Both have "Very High" contribution level, and the contributions go both to Republican (70-80%) and Democratic (20-30%) parties. Yikes. I didn't want to come here but I couldn't find magnetic tape at ReUse Center. But next time, I will remember to also check Agway before resorting to come to these stores. read more

The salespersons are friendly and helpful. Delivery time window is 6am-8pm, and there is no way to know where the truck is. It could either be in Binghamton or Corning because the three stores operate delivery together. I have to reschedule after waiting for 4 hours because I couldn't wait for a whole day on the delivery date. I can't believe I paid almost 10k for the flooring renovation and new appliances just for this uncertain delivery service. This review is of my experience with purchasing carpeting and installation through the Home Depot. The problems were not with the in-store salesperson, who was very nice, but with the quality of installers used by Home Depot. After a pleasant experience with the in-store salesperson, our experience with the installer and the company that sent the installer was horrific. Two men showed up in a dirty, rusted out van. Before I could get to the door, they simply opened it and walked into my home uninvited. The personal hygiene of the primary man was atrocious (smelly, dirty, and reeked of cigarette smoke). Then during the process he constantly was dismissive of my wife and refused to speak in any manner that approached respectfulness toward her. The installers left a mess. There was bits of carpet all over the floor of the hallway outside the rooms where carpet was installed. Trim pieces that were removed and clearly communicated to be trashed were piled inside the front door of our home unless it was pieces that were thrown in the bathroom (all with small nails sticking out of them). When my wife asked the installer to finish cleaning up after himself, he threw a tantrum before huffing up the stairs to clean up the mess he left behind. After this, he completed the experience by shouting and throwing things around -- the last of which was a business card for American Carpet South, the company he was contracted through by Home Depot. Then, he slammed the door to the house on his way out. The phone number on the card led my wife to speak to his supervisor at that company's office in Syracuse who simply responded with more rudeness. He said it was her fault that the man acted like an aggressive, spoiled child. And insinuated that he "could see by the way she was on the phone" that she was the problem. Then, the representative on the supervisor became defensive and proclaimed that they were the biggest carpet installers around (which makes absolutely no sense in light of the present complaint). These contracted installers are horrible.If this is how American Carpet South does business and judging from the experience we had as well as the company's defense of that experience, I have to believe that is exactly how they are comfortable operating their business. I would hope that Home Depot does not deem this experience as acceptable or appropriate. I'm sure there are plenty of contractors that would eagerly take any business Home Depot would divert to them by not doing business with this despicable company again. As of now, I would recommend getting carpet or other flooring installed by a shop where you actually see the people who will be entering your home. I would never suggest anyone I know to schedule an installation through Home Depot. read more

Horrible service. We had to stop at a this Home Depot to pick up lumber for a job we have out in Ithaca and first off, one staff member had no idea they didn't even carry 2x12x10s (which we needed). Which is fine we just got 2x12x12s, 20 of them. We also got 10 pieces of 3/4 ply wood and some gorilla tape totaling almost $1,000. You'd think any company you gave that type of business to would be head over heals trying to help you load it, but we asked the cashier(who was snobby the entire transaction)if she could get a loader or a fort lift operator and she just gave us a dirty look and said she would but help never came. So my partner and I loaded it by hand, something were used to because we were actually on the clock for our job. But an operator would have been nice, or any initiative or appreciation for customers spending 1k on lumber they could have gotten somewhere else. Very disappointed and I understand why this place has a 2.5 star rating. read more

I spent 25 minutes at the customer service counter at the Ithaca store while 3 women tried to set up my order. I paid for it and they gave me the delivery order copy. It was correct. They told me the stuff would come from the Camillus store. The delivery time was from 6 am until 8 pm two days later. At 3:30 I called the store and they told me the order was coming from Auburn. I called there and a young man said he could not contact the truck and they would come by 8 pm. At 7:30 I called and the young lady who answered put me on hold and never came back to the phone. I called again at 7:50 and was put through to a manager. He told me that he could not figure out why the order wasn't delivered. He called me back at 8:15 and said the Ithaca store had ordered the wrong kind of truck. No one from the delivery company let anyone know. He said he would have the "girls" fix it the next morning. I'm sure "girls" do not work there. I called the Ithaca store at 7 am the next day and the young lady there put me through to Dave. Dave informed me that my order could certainly have been delivered by a box truck. Then he said that he could deliver the dirt I ordered. I asked about he sand and pebbles. He said there was nothing about that on my order. I gave him the receipt number and he found it but only the dirt was listed on the order. So, Dave got everything together, had it put on a pick up truck and sent two guys to my house to deliver all the items. He substituted the dirt I had paid for with an upgraded one since the Ithaca store did not have the original. Everything came and was stacked very neatly where I told them to put it. The only problem was that Dave said he could not deliver until late afternoon. At 10:30 am I got a call and they were on their way. We were on our way somewhere else and would not be back home until late afternoon. I told them where to put it and that I would not be able to sign for it. Dave canceled the delivery fee and put together my order and had it delivered when he didn't have to. He was super nice and apologetic. The guy at the Auburn store was not so great and could only offer for someone to work on it the next day. I called the Auburn store to tell them that Ithaca was delivering everything and the young lady who answered the phone said she would have been the one who should have been working on the problem, but no one had told her anything. So someone missed the boat at that store. Very mixed up, unnecessary waste of time for us to wait all day for nothing without any sense of responsibility toward the customer from the delivery company. Dave from Ithaca was great. read more

Most of the time the staff are decent, you occasionally get a rude one with an attitude problem, like when I went to collect some items I had ordered online, it took them 3 hours to get the items ready. 3 paint brushes and a ladder. Both in the same location, the brushes on one side of the shelf, walk around and there are the ladders. Which are also a very short distance from the collection point. It would have been quicker for me to just go and get them myself, but I order online to get cashback deals. The woman was not very helpful and she had facial hair, not quite Duck Dynasty but almost Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit. She is rude and needs a personality transplant. The guy that is mostly seen around the lumber area, I think his name is Jeff, beard and glasses, He is always very helpful. I have dealt with him a few times. There is also a guy that I think is a checkout supervisor as he is always around the checkouts and seems to be the go to guy. He has ginger hair and wears a cap. Very helpful and cordial. The major gripe with home depot is that a lot of the items I want from their website are not available in store. The ones online being a better deal, like jigsaw blades for example. read more

We purchased new kitchen cabinets (all wood construction with all of the bells and whistles you may expect from semi-custom brands) and also hired Home Depot to install the cabinets. The kitchen designer at Home Depot (Kim) was excellent. She helped us tremendously and was knowledgeable and patient while we thought about our kitchen wish-list. She also helped us with practical suggestions that we hadn't thought of -- and her suggestions were really helpful. We enjoyed working with Kim -- you can tell she enjoys her job and likes to help people. Home Depot also had a project manager who called us to insure that we were satisfied during the course of the project. He made sure everything was on schedule and that we were happy. The Home Depot-contracted local installer was excellent. His work is impeccable and he was on-time and easy to work with. He made our kitchen look exactly how we hoped it would look. We tried to hire local, small businesses but had one horrendous, disaster and then a couple of people who just didn't follow through. We hesitated to go to a big box store for our new kitchen, but our cabinets are made in the USA and Home Depot uses a very capable carpenter to install cabinets. We have no regrets using Home Depot and our kitchen is very pretty now. read more

I went to Home Depot after the assistant at Lowe's gave me the wrong product information and I had to return what I bought. The staff at Home Depot spent 20 minutes with me explaining the situation and ended up telling me what other store might have what I needed. When I couldn't get the part at the other store I went back to Home Depot and found out the staff had gone on-line after I left, looking for my part. When I came back one staff brought me to the store computer and helped my find the part, even though they don't carry it at HD. I was totally impressed! Home Depot is further down the road from town than Lowe's but it's worth it. Their tile section also has prettier tile than Lowe's carries. read more

Awful appliance delivery service. The company HD contracts with to deliver appliances refused to drive down my street and told me I had to find my own truck to pick it up at the store; this delivery company was rude and unprofessional. HD Ithaca fixed the situation by delivering one week later; although this meant no working stove for over one week. Will never buy from them again; I'll look at the local-owned companies who I'd hope would offer better service. read more

We recently built a house and purchased materials from this store, running the gamut from flooring to lighting. Customer service was always excellent, right from the manager of the store down to the employees in the various departments. Always a pleasant attitude and an eagerness to please which definitely made a potentially stressful project like home building easier overall. read more

We went through Home Depot for our roofing and siding project, and had their install team do the work. What a mistake. We are still dealing with this nightmare, and they started the projects in the first week of June. First, during the roofing project the team did not tarp anything over when they left for the day, and we got a downpour that had not been anticipated in the forcast. Water poured into our attic and right down into our living room through the opening at the ceiling fan. Our laptop happened to be on the coffee table under that ceiling fan, and was completely destroyed. The flood also left another unsightly yellow/brown stain on my living room ceiling. The siding project has been even worse! The work on the siding was sub-par to say the least. It looked like the contractors had never heard of the phrase "measure twice...cut once" as there are several areas all over the house where edges do not line up/pieces don't fit in right etc. Also, even something as simple as caulk was gobbed on and sloppy. Not to mention that the projects took about two weeks longer than originally stated. During all of this mess the Home Depot install team has had horrible communication with us, as in they did not call to inform of of any status'/plans...we always have to call them to find out where things are at. Home Depot had someone come to inspect the work and he stated that he was disgusted with the work, and was going to make things right for us, and was going to have a new crew come out and start from scratch. It was about a month before we heard any word about when a crew may be available, or if the materials had been ordered. We have not heard anything definitive about when the job will be done, or what kind of compensation might be given for our hardship. I don't know how they can run their business in this way. It is aweful to be wronged and let down as a customer, but it is all the more disappointing to still be getting jerked around after a problem occured. I would expect if something was done poorly, the company would want to make the extra effort to ensure communication, deadlines, and work quality were done well the second time around...I guess not! read more
