Ordered a WOOD door with small window at top a few weeks ago; also want to replace the long side window that runs the length of the door. Price listed at approx $2,000. They had to come out twice to measure existing door frame. Today I get the invoice for over $4,000 and the door is listed as fiberglass. I call, and they say "well most people don't want wood because of the elements", etc. ... as if I don't know what I actually want!!!! They automatically substituted what THEY wanted to sell, at a MUCH higher price, without even calling me to discuss it! Time to update my previous review. My how things have changed. My parents were in the market for a new fridge and I helped them with the whole shopping process. Home Depot is one of my dad's go to hardware stores so we decided to check them out first. We found a fridge we liked and set a delivery date. This is when everything went down hill. First delivery attempt. The fridge arrived and when it was unboxed, they noticed a large dent in the front of the fridge. Sent it back. Second delivery attempt. Snowpocalypse hit Houston so delivery got cancelled. Getting it rescheduled was a headache and took another week. Third delivery attempt. Fridge arrived. Delivery person was complaining already when he walked in that they were busy and that they would need to remove the front door which is normal process. When he attempted to remove old fridge, he barely put pressure on the water valve on the wall and said it was loose and we needed to call a plumber to get it replaced. They left. My dad decided to check it himself and lo and behold it turned without any problem and valve was not loose. Home depot said they would not send the same people and apologized. Fourth delivery attempt. Fridge arrived. Different driver. Fridge was dented again. They blame the warehouse. Sent it back. They promised 25 percent back on the purchase. Fifth delivery attempt. Same idiot driver from delivery attempt three. He asked if we did the plumbing work and my dad said it didn't need to be done. Home depot agreed. He said we are not getting the fridge and he left. We talked to customer service and they said they would refund even more but at this point we were done with them. My dad does alot of business with Home Depot but this left a very poor taste in our mouth. We went to Lowes and got the same fridge for quite a bite cheaper. They delivered the next day with no complaints about the door. Their standard process is to change the valve anyways at no extra charge even though it didn't need to be changed according to the Lowe's delivery people. They saw the original valve and saw no problem with it. As far as appliances go, we will stay clear of Home Depot from now on. Not worth the hassle. read more

I gotta call it how I see it. They sometimes have what I need. They sometimes have what the website says is in stock. They sometimes have people that can help you. Like most home improvement places, they seem to be understaffed. It's difficult to find someone in flooring, and if you do, they're spending an hour with another customer. The good news is someone is getting help, the bad news is you may spend a day in line waiting to be helped. I will say the Paint Dept is hopping though. They're the one spot I can always go to for a human to have an answer about their section. Home Depot brand tools are subpar on quality, so I usually buy the name brand nowadays. I'd like to see changes, but it is what it is. Inventory control is right for everyone, but another level of chaos. Not only did the website not have an updated count, I was sent to another location by staff, and that location also had nothing in stock. Maybe have a consultant with Amazon help with inventory control? Just sayin. I will say that the check out and customer service folks are nice. They earned that second star. To be fair, I haven't been to a home improvement business that didn't have the exact same problems. read more

While I love having a home improvement store nearby... I am not in love with this store. I'm shocked that I haven't reviewed this place yet but felt compelled after my most recent visit yesterday. I came in with my 3 kids in tow... never fun to go in with 3 kids but we needed a dehumidifier. Being as we live in a high humidity climate, I didn't think that this was an odd item. The gentleman at the door greeted us and asked what we needed. I said a dehumidifier and he looked baffled and initially said that they most likely don't have any of those. I said that online it stated there were 2 in stock and he said that the online info isn't always right but said if they did have them, they'd be in appliances in the back. We head to the back and wander around not seeing any nor any workers to help us. We then search around on our own and finally find another worker and ask him. He tells us that if they did have them, they'd be in the front of the store near the portable AC units. So we head up to the front of the store and look around the portable AC unit display only to NOT find the dehumidifiers yet again. Ugh. I was quite frustrated at this point. I make one last attempt and ask a WOMAN worker and she tells me aisle 31... AND THEN WALKS OVER THERE WITH US. Sure enough, the dehumidifiers are in aisle 31... except they're on the TOP SHELF. Again, I find this extremely odd that in a high humidity climate, you'd stick DEHUMIDIFIERS on the top shelf. So she calls for assistance over the loud speaker. And then we wait. And wait and wait and wait some more. No one was coming to help so I hunted down another worker and he re calls someone to help. The guy that comes is probably 6'4" but I tell him that he'll need a ladder. He replies that he was told we needed a faucet. Nope... no. Faucets, I could reach. Dehumidifiers on the top shelf, I can not. So he says he needs to go find "a machine." What? There was a ladder down the adjacent aisle. Regardless, he gets the machine and finally gets the dehumidifier down for us. Ultimately, lesson learned... go to a WOMAN worker first. They'll know where shit is. Second lesson learned... I really wish Lowes was closer. Ugh. read more

The reviews on here are correct. I thought... I'll plan out what I want I looked up the aisles online and go directly to get what I need. I did that. First stop: two workers talking in the aisle and walk right by me trying to pick up a box bigger than myself. Nothing. They were working hard to not pay attention to me and succeeded. I go to self check out. I have a store credit which I would have avoided even coming in if they let you use store credit online (you cannot). The store credit is linked to my dads ID. He cannot come to the store. I cannot use the card. There is nothing they can do, the end. I do not like Home Depot. They make it as difficult as possible to use store credit. 2 stars instead of 1because when everyone and their grandma fondled my phone and couldn't get my $5 coupon to work they gave me $5 off my $100 purchase anyway. read more

The app as well would be misleading and would say that they have 37 amount in stock but would end up being nothing. In April we purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from Home Depot. When it was delivered, the doors were uneven, but they were adjusted. We accepted the appliance. The freezer and refrigerator began to cool and appeared to be working, but 50 hours later, it was warm and continued to get warmer. We called and notified Home Depot at that time. They refused to replace the refrigerator or refund our money. In fact, the person we spoke to refused to give us the name and number of the store manager. After 3 weeks without a refrigerator in our kitchen, a Whirlpool technician came and totally replaced the cooling mechanism. I have written to the manager of the Silverlake, Texas, store as well as the corporate office. Neither has responded in any way. The Whirlpool Corporate office has called and has compensated us by extending the warranty for an extra year. We paid full price for a reconditioned refrigerator. I needed a dishwasher. Home Depot is close by and that's where I usually shop. There's already a couple waiting for help and they said that they've been waiting for several minutes. I went and found someone who overheaded assistance needed in appliances. No one came. Another person walked by and said has someone showed up yet for which we said no. She called overhead again. Waited and then the manager was called overhead. I finally got help and pointed at the dishwasher that I wanted. We go to the computer and I said whatever extra parts it needs throw it in because have a repair guy and he's coming out this evening. That's when I was told that they don't stock dishwashers and the soonest I could get it is the 22nd, which was an impossible day to be waiting all day for delivery. How can you not carry a dishwasher?? He said Lowe's and Home Depot generally don't keep them in stock but my best bet would be to go to Best Buy. So I left and went to Best Buy. Which their prices are a little bit more expensive, but I needed something immediately. I waited for the one salesman that I saw to finish with the previous customer so I decided to scour my phone and lo and behold Lowes had a reasonable dishwasher for pick up that day. I left and sat in my car and ordered curbside pick up of a dishwasher and the extra parts. Easy breezy, no issues at all. They were all new dryers and all malfunctioning. After the broken dryer was delivered they refused to remove the dryer from my house. At 12:30pm on 11/12, a guy named Thomas called & said the following. He said that he could deliver the microwave but he was not going to install it. He said that the guy who installs the microwaves had not come in today & that he could only drop it off. I immediately said no. He then said he would reschedule us & call back in 30 minutes. He called us from cell# 346-816-8932. We tried texting several times but he never returned our calls or texts. At 2:42pm I called 1-800-455-3869 which is Home Depot's number for assistance with deliveries. I gave all our information to the rep that answered the phone. Told her the situation & she put me on hold to call the delivery people. Twenty two minutes later, she came back & said that she called them & that they had not spoken to the customer. I corrected her because she was rather confused & inept. When I corrected her, she then said that "Thomas" the delivery guy would call us to set up a time to deliver today. I simply didn't understand why all of a sudden they were going to deliver & install after being told that the microwave guy was not available. I did not believe her. The guy who helped us trim the tree and load it was very nice and courteous! We picked a beautiful tree as well as some nutcrackers to stand next to the tree. I couldn't believe how cheap they were!! You would see these nutcrackers for 50+ at other stores. We hurried up and snatched them up, and they even light up!! I also bought a beautiful wreath as well as a crate box (that has a chalkboard) to place my cute Welcome Snowman on my porch. We bought a refrigerator from Home Depot with a hefty price tag of $3800. It broke within 6 wks of purchase. Fighting with Home Depot and GE was futile. To repair the refrigerator the compressor needs to be changed, the 3 way valve and filter needs to be replaced and will take a torch to be able to do the repairs. Both GE and Home Depot told me with various employees that they themselves would no longer want this appliance but refused to let us return it or exchange it. Went in today to exchange a faulty machine I had bought from this store. I had used it once before, and when I went to use it again it didn't work. I didn't have a receipt (which admittedly was my fault) but I felt it was just to get an exchange being that i had spend around $400 on the equipment. The First Lady I spoke to essentially gave me the "tough luck" go pay for someone to look at it. She wasn't helpful from the very beginning and although she wasn't rude per-say she did not even attempt to help or find a way to accommodate or even offer to have me speak to someone who could help. I thoroughly dislike it when people feel entitled to get special treatment, but I am more incensed when someone dismisses me when my demands are not out of the ordinary or unjust. I asked to speak to the manager Derren, who was in fact helpful and allowed me to exchange my item which I am thankful for, but he too seemed rather peeved to render assistance and seemed to have an attitude of "yeah whatever get what you want and get out of my face" I then was attended by a man named Tosh who as well had a terrible attitude from the very beginning. Going so far as to make annoyed faces and sighs constantly. His attitude made me feel as though I am not a valued customer even though my family and I have spent substantial amounts of money not only at this particular Home Depot but at others across the city. I don't ask to be coddled by employees. But I do believe I deserve to be treated with dignity, none of which I felt I received from anyone I dealt with today. Do not go here to install carpet in a timely manner. What should've taken about 1-2 weeks if that has now taken 3-4 weeks. you have to schedule a measure for your home and it takes about 6-7 days to get someone out just to measure, we originally needed 1 bedroom and 1 closet, then decided to do 2 bedrooms and 2 closets. the initial measure took all of 10 minutes and we asked if the gentleman could measure the other room, he stated he couldn't do it without another appointment, I was confused because he was already in my home and it might only take an additional 10 minutes. We asked to please measure since he was already there and he insisted he couldn't without another appointment. so we had to wait another 5 days for another appointment for another gentleman to come into our home to measure the other room for 10 minutes. we finally get all the measures and we go to Home Depot to pick out our carpet. we find some in stock on the roll and next to it has a sign says .49 cent installation per square foot. we didn't mind paying this so we decided to move forward with this one. we go to the desk and try to schedule the installation, and they claim they don't install the "in stock" carpet. Only custom order. Which makes no sense because it is right in front of us. We assumed we can buy what we ned take it to our home and have them come install. However they tell us this isn't possible. Again, we are so confused because the sign says .49 cent installation per square foot. 2-3 hours later after talking with managers and such we finally just order the carpet to have them install. We order it on jan. 28 and are told it will be in by end of the week. We are expecting it on Feb 2bc Or 3rd. We get an email today to schedule our installation, so we assume the carpet is in and ready to be installed. We call and turns out the carpet won't be here until Monday feb 6, and earliest they can come out is feb 8th. I am super frustrated because we were told end of the week and now we have to wait an additional 5 Days. I basically am writing to say, don't rely on their timing and don't expect them to care about what you have going on in your life and that you have a job. they don't seem to work with your schedule at all and don't care to make you wait double the amount of time it should've taken to get this done. It's inconsiderate and inconvenient to be told one thing then it be switched up on you. read more

I understand shortages and different vehicle on shoulder ahead since I do have a construction background, but this place is ridiculous. They never have anything! It sucks that you have to get on a freeway and pay a toll to get to the next closest large Hardware supply so save yourself the time and go there first! Not only do they have nothing, their staff is clueless in regards to answering questions about projects or even locations of specific items in the store. I am a commercial Wood fencing contractor who uses Home Depot to source my lumber. Namely I source through the Silverlake Home Depot location. In the past I have not always been pleased with the service but Chelsea and Alex at the service desk has totally renewed my confidence in the store, and its customer service. Chelsea and Alex tagged teamed collecting my lumber, even though pressure treated lumber is in extremely short supply. They made my orders their personal goal and and put my business first in their priorities. This is the very thing I look for in suppliers I work with and have solidified my business for the rest of the foreseeable future. These are the sort of folks that drive culture changes and disrupt the empathetic mindset myself and many other contractors see in suppliers across the board. I finally feel like someone in another industry shares my passion for customer service and appreciation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me renewed faith in human kind. After making the purchase in store on the Home Depot credit card, sometime after that the order was "cancelled" due to a glitch in their system and didn't bother to tell me about it. They claimed to have called in their notes, but if they did, no voicemail was left about it. The struggle to get this washer and dryer rescheduled and REpurchased (I had no choice with this stupid Home Depot credit now) I had to speak to literally 5 different "managers", 10 phone calls made by me throughout the first day, and 3 more on day two(today). Currently I'm on hold while after i've answered the same damn questions. (40 minutes of waiting, and THEN they hung up.) Call number 4 day two: I'm obviously livid. 20 minutes in and placed back on hold. Just continuous failed attempts to provide quality service to customers...the most important part of their job. Most of the time when I have had things that didn't work out, they have been good on keeping their customer satisfaction rating high with me by accepting returns for purchased I didn't like or didn't need. But now they won't take a return on a grill that sucks because it's used. Well Stupid me, I should have know I would not like this grill before using it -- how that happens is a mystery to me. As far as I know the only way to see if a product meets your expectations is to use it. Now the Manager says that he won't let me exchange it for a higher priced grill because it's used. So much for customer satisfaction with this philosophy. So if you buy a new washer or electrical tool and it won't do a good job after you try it out, Home Depot says tough luck. You should have brought it back before you used it - really? Very poor management and customer service. Yeah perhaps you would have to discount it $50 to resell it. But now you have alienated a long term steady customer. SO Learn from me, BUY your Appliances, tools, grills, etc. Somewhere Else that will back up your satisfaction, such as when you spend nearly $400 on a grill. read more

Frequent customer at the Home Depot. This particular location has several issues. First the propane kiosk was not working and required assistance. That assistance took almost 15 minutes to arrive. Second there is only one exit onto broadway going east. It took an additional 8 minutes to exit the parking lot. Third, they are significantly understaffed.
