I can then just either transfer funds or put the rest of it in a different card--that being my American Express card, which unfortunately Costco does not accept However, in a matter of literally about 5 weeks, I have had three *major* transaction errors from this Costco, and have just about had all I can take at this point. In two cases, Costco took my money and registers zero payment; and I had to wait about ten days to get my money back. The latest problem, (today,) there was an error when the cashier accidentally scanned stuff from a cart that was not associated with my party. Due to my knowledge about how this was going to go if they canceled the order, a supervisor or two had to come over to fix the whole mess. It would have been fine if they just accepted my American Express, but that is just no longer the case, apparently. Everyone was very nice about the incident today, and it really was not their fault; but their particular payment system is beyond simply being the worse. It is **awful**, and it has caused me a lot of stress, embarrassment, and irritation.

I would likely not look their for a master bedroom purchase, for example, but for the spare-room futon that was needed they compared adequately to other local discount bed and mattress stores. What I was not impressed with was the delayed delivery and complete lack of communication from the store. The bed was ordered on a Wednesday and was to have been delivered the following Thursday. We waited all day on that Thursday for the bed to arrive, and nothing. We waited half the day on Friday and still no bed arrived and no call from the store. I phoned the store and have to question whether the person I was speaking to was, in fact, drunk - when I actually spoke with them after the first time I called the phone was fumbled with and then hung up! The person seemed confused and uncertain that there was even something that had been expected for delivery the day prior and that didn't arrive. When I provided the invoice info I was told it would be delivered 'early next week'. After hearing nothing from the store I called AGAIN on the Wednesday and was told that the bed would definitely be there the next day (now a WEEK after the original delivery date). Later in the day on Thursday we got a call from the store to say the bed was there. That's great. So ... Is it coming? Oh, you want it delivered? Yes ... it WAS to have been delivered a week ago! The bed finally arrived on a delivery truck (which broke numerous branches off a tree backing into the driveway). There was one person driving/attending the truck, so it was necessary to help carry the bed into the house. That was fine in our case, but many people (e.g., seniors) might be unable to lug a bed frame and mattress off the truck and into the house, up stairs and then put it together. The futon itself is fine, now that we have put it together, but customer service and communication is sorely lacking. Delivery also needs improvement - there should be 2 people on the delivery truck OR customers should be told in advance that they will have to have someone available to help unload the truck. Bed assembly should also be offered, even if at an additional cost - it is simply lost profit for the store, as I believe many customers would have no objection to paying $20+ to have the bed assembled, and the packing materials taken away.

Despite my constant "oh shit I forgot I need 'X' too" and "oops forgot about 'y'" and making him run back and forth from the stock room to the counter over and over, he was very kind and helpful and even helped me to get a handle on how the items worked and go together. They likely did not make much of a profit from my miniscule purchase but the service was friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10

The people I've met who work there genuinely care about the customers. Unless you come up swearing bloody blue murder and insulting us, (then we might be a bit less inclined to go out of our way for you) we generally try to do our best for you. The only thing I dislike about this walmart is (even though we have over 300 people working for us in this particular store) we never seem to have enough staff in the less popular departments. I waited for ten minutes before giving up waiting for someone to come mix me some paint and that's AFTER paging them. Now, don't get me wrong, there are good and bad employees in every store but there are a huge number of good ones working at this location.

I scouted out the used toy stores and Walmart and price checked. Price was a major consideration. Walked into the Toy Shop with my price comparison list looking for value, and was immediately reminded the value means so much more than price. The selection of board and card games exactly matched our list of needs. The service was immediate, knowledgeable, helpful, attentive. Where else can you get the owner to serve you? The price was NOT as low as some of the other options, but after costing out time saved, better quality of choices, and service, we got great value. And we were still under budget. In Korea we support local businesses in the neighbourhood. Our flyer is in the window of music and martial arts academies and coffee houses and bookstores, and we carry theirs. We are pleased to support local biz in Peterborough as well, and they make it so incredibly easy by being so incredibly good.
