Located in a very safe part of town with access to a main intersection, Home Depot is there for all your home improvement needs. Overall, it's pretty darn close in terms of products and prices of that big blue place that starts with "L." But what I think sets them apart is customer service. The employees are always more than willing to assist while knowing where everything is as if it's the back of their hand. Walking in the place is stunningly clean, as if no soul has ever dared soil the floors or leave one product out of place. I did see a person cleaning the floor and another restocking shelves when I dropped by after an early church service but they weren't in the way at all. Overall, HD has a pretty efficient business going on. As for what to buy, I was after a light bulb changer extender and couldn't find it. I asked for help and it was one isle over! Doh! Oh and I checked online before dropping by so their PoS (point of sale) system is very accurate between the web and store. After retrieving my bounty, I wondered around. I had to stop by the Tregaer grill...... oh buddy if I already didn't have a Webber and a smoke box, I'm not sure I would have left with only one product in hand. Moreover, they had a lot of grilling accessories which made me drool! I'm not going to carry this review out for sake of having a long review. Home Depot is a little bit better than that other place. First and foremost, Marie in flooring is 5 Stars! However... We are rebuilding an entire house so we are purchasing items daily at this location. Last night we inadvertently purchased one wrong style kitchen cabinet. Today with receipt in hand I attempted to exchange for the correct cabinet. The first woman at the return desk said no problem, so I left the paid for cabinet at their checkout station and went to grab the correct cabinet. When we came back, the first woman was not there but Melody with her sarcastic attitude was there to ruin the day. Melody's sarcastic comments and attitude were abundantly clear. We called her out on her attitude, decided to go to a different Home Depot. On our way out, Melody was still making sarcastic comments so we asked to speak with a manager. Enter Daniel. Daniel spoke with us and stated he would do the transaction, we asked why Melody was still making sarcastic faces and comments behind his back while he was talking with us. We informed Daniel what was going on and he said he would talk to Melody since he was her supervisor, we informed Daniel most likely nothing would be done due to Melody's blatant sarcasm in her supervisor's presence. The garden center was neat and organized. Large signs were hanging above the plants that indicated their type: annual, perennial, shrubs, trees, etc. I was browsing and found all plants I came across to appear healthy and for a reasonable value. Very impressed with the perennial and vegetable selections! Would have liked to have seen a "SC Native Plants" section as there were not many. I was not able to find milkweed, persimmons or pawpaws which I was looking for, but I did find a beautiful desert rose, and the price of $12.99 was very competitive for what I've found in the past at other garden stores and nurseries. The two staff I encountered were pleasant and were wearing masks. Person at customer service had no clue what was happening. So many employees but no one asked me for assistance. Pretty bad service.

If you just go into buy a wrench or a toilette they have good service at this location. However, if you have large orders expect them to have zero communication, schedule orders for a week out to sell it to you then delay the order by two months the day before install is scheduled. If you ask for any flexibility they tell you to cancel and resubmit your order (which will cause you to lose any discounts you may have had originally through sales that you purchased through). I made a $6900 purchase for install of 4 sliding glass doors in November and never receive any updates from this store, I continually call in and am told that the order is due in store in 2 weeks (every 2 weeks). I also on black friday made a purchase of 5k+ for all new kitchen appliances. We worked with an appliance person in-store to specifically select items that were in-stock such that we could get the appliances delivered soon (our diswasher had quit working). They scheduled delivery for 8 days away which was totally acceptable. Two days before delivery I got a notice to be ready that they'd be there on the originally scheduled Saturday (Dec 3). The next day, I got a new notice that said we had been rescheduled until Feb 20th. With the black friday deals we saved 43% (~$4,000). I think they put us to the end of the line and sold items that should have been reserved for us to other customers who maybe purchased at a higher price. As a part of selecting items in stock on black friday we went with all one color of appliances except that the range in that color was not in stock at the time so we said OK we'll take a range that is slightly different. The matching range is back in stock now, but if we were to change out the range that we received we are told it would reset our order and lose all black friday discounts. We would have been fine with that if we had received everything on the date we ordered, but have been washing dishes by hand since then and for the next 2 months. This was their mess up so it would seem that they should at least try to accomodate us to some degree. We were also told that the dishwasher was always in stock and we asked simply if we could get two deliverys one with the items that are in stock and a later one once the items that they screwed up with were in stock but we were also denied this request. This location have ZERO customer service for customers who spend regularly significant amounts of money here. (enough that we have a Pro Extra account). I do not recommend working through this Home Depot in Summerville for any projects or for any purchases. I will adjust my future loyalties to use Lowes or other more independent stores locally for all future projects. The prices at Home Depot may be good in many cases but the lack of care about the situations they put their customers in through their own screw up and lack of any attempt to remediate the issues for me is unacceptable. read more

I wanted to buy a Ryobi 40 V chainsaw. Amazon had the saw for 169.00 Home Depot had it for 199. I asked the customer service rep if they would price match the saw. This was her answer, We don't match Amazon's on prices or many other online competitors for that matter. We also don't price match smaller competitors. They will make you run to and from the store multiple times to complete one task only to be told after the 3rd visit "oops we can't actually help you". The older lady with the short blond bob w/ bangs and glasses should not be working Customer Service as she is one of the WORST customer service reps I have ever encountered. She stated she was on her way to lunch and saw me standing there and asked reluctantly if she could help (not sounding like she really wanted to help.) I gave her my order # and she said it was not there. I informed her that my app said it was there and at the customer service desk. She said its likely come in but not showing as ready. I repeated that the app says it was delivered to the customer service desk. She did not even attempt to look (clearly needing to get to lunch) and was unwilling when I asked to see if someone could just see if it might be ready but not scanned in yet as I have has this happen a few times now at this Home Depot. She said it was on a truck and she couldn't do anything. I mentioned that I had to come across town and that this was not close for me wasn't there anything she could do but never looking at anything other than her screen she refused. I get she was ready for lunch and I would have been happy to have someone else help me so that I did not have to waste 1.5 hrs of my day making multiple trips but she was totally unhelpful in any way and totally unwilling to be helpful or even pretend to try,. This lady should NOT be interacting with customers as she has no personable skills. I have never been more frustrated or irritated with and exchange and will likely avoid purchasing anything else with Home Depot (especially this location) moving forward. Its sad really as we had just purchased whole house flooring and several other items here and had a good experience but this one was so lacking of any hint of customer service that I will not be likely to work with them again. If I could I would return the items I purchased and buy them at Lowes (which has always been exceptional for us) I would but I have the contractors here today waiting to install the fans that she was too lazy to get me assistance with because she was more concerned with taking her lunch and couldn't be bothered to find someone that was willing to help. read more

I stopped by Home Depot on my lunch hour for a couple light bulbs. I was looking for a dusk-to-dawn bulb and a motion activated bulb. If you've ever been to Home Depot you'd know the light bulb section is extensive. There are so many to look through. I had a couple workers walk by me really fast. One, in passing, asked me how I was doing. Before I could answer he was gone. It was weird. I was at the section longer than I would've liked and honestly could've used some help. I ended up going online to their website and doing a search to see what brand and type I am looking for. I eventually found it and paid but I spent 20 minutes at the store for what could've been a 5 minute trip. I also wanted to ask a few questions for a future trip where I would have more time but there was literally no one to ask. I'm not the type to complain about petty things but I was very frustrated. Possibly the worst service I've ever had. Called and asked to hold a truck for an hour or so and they said they could. I made arrangements to pick up a couch and when I arrived at Home Depot they had sent the truck out. They told me it would be back in about 30 minutes which was a lie. I waited for an hour and no truck came and the workers refused to admit that they had messed up and didn't apologize. They cost me time and money that I won't get back and they couldn't even say sorry. This is not the way business should be done and it makes me sick that there are people like that in the world. I've been here several times but my most recent trip was to look for a new fridge because mine suddenly died. We checked the other hardware store nearby and they couldn't get us the fridge we wanted for over two weeks. Nobody was working in the appliances when we came in but they quickly found us someone who helped us. It is a great place to grab home improvement items ranging from paint and lighting fixtures to appliances such as washers, dryers and refrigerators. They also do installation work when you purchase an appliance from them (for an additional fee). If you are looking for a great place to purchase lawn and garden items, they frequently advertise sales on flowers, plants and shrubs. Did you know that they have a separate area for plants and flowers that have been reduced in price, or are on sale? I have chose to no longer shop at Home Depot as my husband served in the US military and I served just as long as he did supporting him and supporting our military through family services and as a spouse of a military member raising our family while he was gone serving our country I was serving our country at home spouses should be allowed to get the dumb 10% discount or whatever it is regardless. If you are receiving a VA disability check as a family member then you should be able to get their discount I can't believe they are nickel and diming it that much that they would not honor a veterans discount for the spouse. I received military benefits just like my husband my children were born in military hospitals so It would only be fair to give it to the spouse if the husband is away deployed. But 10% would be too much for Home Depot to extend to the spouse of a military member who's away on duty read more

I went with my Mom Alexander to buy a new riding lawnmower about a month ago. We bought a John Deer Riding Lawnmower. We had it delivered to the house and the guy who delivered it said it has oil in it. We used it 2 times and every time I engaged the blade it was making a terrible noise. I had my brother come and take a look at it because he's Top Manager for Blanchard Machinery in Summerville. He's 70 years old and has worked his way to the top working on all kinds of Craine Engines and Semi Trucks and Heavy Equipment since he was 15 years old. His only job. I noticed the oil stick was loose and oil was all over the engine and didn't have no oil in it. Mom is 92 years old and takes pride of her 1/2 Acres of grass. She called up there and we were told to bring it back because we had under 5 hours of usage. Well my brother picked it up and took it to the Store and they refused to take it back. Mom called the Corporate Office and this Lady told Mom she would check into it. Well I told Mom today to call her back because the grass is getting high. She said you have to take it to the Dealership in Moncks Corner SC and they are back up 3 weeks in other repairs. The Gentleman there was super nice and said I'm glad you didn't buy the extended warranty with them because we are separate from them. My brother loaded it up and was nice enough to take it there for Mom because they wanted $150.00 to pick it up. The Mechanic told us that Home Depot doesn't know nothing about these lawnmowers and they are basically a Generic Version of a John Deer. My brother said our Company use to do business with Home Depot but not no more. Mom said I will never buy anything from them again. I still have a Troybuilt riding lawnmower that I bought over 10 years from Lowe's on Dorchester Rd in North Charleston SC. It runs fine. I will never buy or even go into their store no more. Service is ok. From a customer stand point . The lot people don't get help I have seen only one person out in mornings get the cart and leave in the afternoons only person doing a lot for people loading and pushing carts all day on uncomfortable concrete that isn't paved with blacktop. Customers can really get hurt if they aren't careful cause the cracks in the pavement can cause a serious injury and that can cause a good lawsuit cause trash is much easier hidden in the cracks of pavement. Lot desperately needs to be redone but management doesn't care for others safety they just care for the money that gets brought in l. The only lot assistant has to clean up smoker stains that get left behind and she doesn't smoke that's not fair to her that she has to clean up something that she doesn't do! That's the janitors job or those that smoke. Have those that bring in the pets off leash they need to be leashed up it is a business and some people don't want to be greeted by a dog they need to be leashed cause some dogs are reactive and can cause a big break out dog fight ! Stop bringing in pets! Get rid of curbside it isn't worth it or needed anymore! read more

I was so surprised by the garden center at this Home Depot. It was phenomenal! The live plant prices were very reasonable, and the garden center was superbly stocked. The folks on the sales floor were friendly and helped me find my way. I find myself looking at Home Depot ads now, and I never have before. This one trip might have opened up a whole new world for me. I'll be back to add more as I shop more. read more

One of my fave home improvement stores and they have great financing options for those big purchases/projects. The staff are helpful even when you're just browsing. They go out of their way to make sure you get the help you need. Every now and then they have awesome deals, too. Great, great service! My son just bought his first home, a humble and small brick ranch in an older area of Goose Creek. Being pretty handy, he has plans to fix it up and make it his, and he has friends that will help. Project one- floors. While the place had new carpet it was an awful shade of fresh dirt. Solution- about 900 square feet of Trafficmaster pecan wood laminate. Home Depot had a decent deal, and underlayment was ridiculously cheap on Amazon. My wife and son went to the Summerville store after a less-than-stellar clerk at Northwoods said they didn't have it in stock and had some runaround idea of how long it would take to get in. Summerville on the other hand had most of it in stock and had more scheduled for delivery. So, the afternoon of closing on the house we are off to Summerville Home Depot. As the store was setting up for Black Friday there was lots of action everywhere. We must have looked confused, because that was when the star of this story stepped in- Keith. He got involved, looked for our order (not in system), looked for material (couldn't find it) but set his mind that we were going to be taken care off. By the end of the day Keith had given us his cell number, pulled it all altogether, given a significant discount, and had the shortage covered by Northwoods, who not only delivered but helped carry it into the house.
