I judge any business or service not just on the initial product or service that I purchase, but also (or even more so) on their response to issue(s) that may occur after purchase. My concern, in this case, is with the latter. I purchased a refrigerator from Plugs, deciding to try them over a "big box" store to see if there was a benefit from doing so. I also bought their three-year warranty. The initial purchase experience was okay, with Plugs' price being about the same or slightly higher, than a comparable purchase from a "big box," taking into account all costs - basic price, delivery and warranty. I recently experienced a problem where the water dispenser was dripping; additionally, some food in the refrigerator would freeze up (I keep the refrigerator at a recommended temperature). No big deal, I thought, until I tried to utilize the warranty to get these issues addressed. I will try not to fill up this review with too much detail, but this was likely my worst experience dealing with an appliance issue in my more than 40 years as a homeowner. This was the first time that I tried to use the warranty. I was unable to get any documentation on the warranty when I first bought the refrigerator (there is just the phrase, "3 year term," on the invoice), so I called Plugs to report the problem and request service. The person with whom I spoke gave me the name of the warranty company. I called the latter and was able to get an appointment for service. However, on the scheduled service date, no one showed up. I stayed home, wasting the day. I called the appliance repair company directly several times, but no one returned my call. I followed up with another call to Plugs, spoke to someone, but no one got back to me. I then filled out a form online, and a "manager" did call me. There was another delay, and I needed to call back a few more times. The "manager" commented that dealing with the warranty company is like dealing with an insurance company (the warranty company actually seemed more like a "call center" to me), which takes time. I was then given the name of another repair company, called them, and finally had the repair completed. I give the appliance technician eventually assigned a good mark for his quality of work. Start-to-end for getting a seemingly straightforward repair completed took more than 3 1/2 weeks, with wasted hours, and needless aggravation on my part. Plugs, in their commercials, distinguish themselves from "big box" stores. I suggest that Plugs should, instead, try to learn from the big box stores, namely, that the full life cycle of an appliance purchase is what's important to customers, not just what gets delivered on Day 1. read more

This is regarding customer service, or lack there of. My wine fridge suddenly died and I was hoping to replace before the holidays. I called a few places wihe the model number to see who had it in stock, or could get it quickly. Plugs is local and they checked, it was in stock in a warehouse and they could get it to me within 2 weeks.... 2 weeks came and went, and no call for delivery so I called...turns out it was no longer in stock and wouldn't be available for several weeks. The clerk and I spoke several times on the day I ordered, me making sure I could get it. Larger box stores had one, but truly wanted a local spot...sadly customer service failed. Once the clerk had made availability promises, and it failed, he should have immediately called me so I could be prepared or move on to other arrangements. read more

Why should you skip the big box stores and go to the local family owned appliance place? Because it's so far and beyond better than the big box places could ever be. We suffered a catastrophic plasma making incident in our built-in microwave where my son cooked Raman in an ABS bowl with no water. Suffice to say it burned down the old microwave. This was a built-in from our builder and near impossible to find. Additionally it is hard to find something under 1200 that would replace it. We exhausted our searches with the big box stores and then found Plugs. Not only did they have a unit to fit in our space, it was the exact same model that we have and was far less money than the box box stores ask for this, when they used to carry it. Staff were helpful and got us everything we needed quickly for an excellent price. I will look no further than Plugs for any appliances I need from here on out. I have purchased three major kitchen appliances from plugs in the last 4 months, only 1 of which was a pleasant experience. The most recent purchase a Bosch dishwasher was the worst. The first time the installer was apparently new and could not get it right after 2 hours and he said it was broken..they sent John out the next day who said they would send a new one with a seasoned installer. The next day they sent a new dishwasher with 3 men to install, 1 of them refused to put his mask on because he didn't believe in the virus. After several hours and having my contractor neighbor come to help they said they were done. They did a Terri job and scraped my newly painted front steps. After speaking to Celia their manager she said they would send someone back out. They never had, and she has not returned my phone call. Worst service ever read more

He was patient, knowledgable and professional. Then comes the delivery two days later.... Paul and Trent appeared right on time, introduced themselves and looked at where the three appliances needed to go. Moved out the old appliances, allowed us time to clean where they were and then installed all three. Gentlemanly, explained what they were doing and cleaned up after themselves. I purchased all appliances for my new home from Plugs Appliance I was told right before delivery that they would not be able to deliver my $28,000 in appliances and I would have to pay a 3rd party for installation. When the appliances were delivered my $10,000 Kitchen Aid Fridge was dead. When I spoke to Celcia, Manager of Pluggs, she basically told me it was my problem and I would have to get with Kitchen Aid and they would have to replace the fridge. Time to replace was estimated at 6 to 9 months. This was 10 days before Christmas in 2021. We were without a fridge, they would not refund our money and said we would just have to wait on a new fridge. Plugs Appliance in Charleston SC is all about you when you are purchasing your appliances, but as for installation and service after the sale they SUCK!!. Stay away from Plugs Appliance. There is no service after the sale. I used a local store because I assumed they would care and provide service if anything went wrong with the appliances, I was WRONG. This was a five star experience in that I never set foot in the store and my dishwasher was delivered and installed the next day. We originally went to Lowes and bought a Bosch Dishwasher but we failed to ask the all important question of when they could install it. After a day or two not hearing from them the wife called and to cut to the chase they had none in-stock and wouldn't be able to install it until after Jan 20th at best. Needless to say we got our money back, said bye,bye and I called Plugs. Brad did his magic and put up with all my questions and whala we have a New Bosch Dishwasher today. Plugs inatalled our new dishwasher. They disclosed at purchase that that would be our expense ($65). We happily paid it. They brought over our fridge but it was too tall for the space (after two of their guys measured) .We had to have carpentry done in order to fit it in. We took care of the cost on our own The stove was brought to our home with out a fee listed. or disclosure the installer wanted $900 to install it We have reciepts from Plugs that say we paid in full and nothing more need ed to be colrcted at delivery. It has been a terrible ordeal No one at Plugs accepts any responsibility . The instilation cost was not disclosed. Adding insult to injury the sub did an incomplete job that needs to be finished on our dime too. I recommend going to Lowes They know to put everything on paper so there are no surprises. We were told items would be in no later than the end of Aug . . . they were not and were assured that they would be in by the end of Sept . . . they were not. We had to contact our representative each time we needed an update . . . would have been nice if it were the other way around; were told each time that the company was having problems getting orders complete because of the pandemic . . . if that's the case TELL US up front that it can take up to six months to get your items! We have ordered very high ends appliances from Plugs for multiple houses over the last two years. EVERYTIME, we ask ourselves why we went back to these people. They are horrible. Our orders could not have been any easier...we give the model numbers and our credit card. The sales "professionals" can never get it right and they do not care. Today they delivered appliances that were supposed to be delivered yesterday...excuse was the driver didn't show up. That's fine, but no courtesy call advising us of the same?? BTW- the day Plugs was a no show, we had a crew on-site with a rented loader because they couldn't fulfill their initial agreement to deliver the appliances in place. We were told no call was placed because they had several numbers for us and didn't know which to dial...really??? Today, when the appliances were finally delivered there was no microwave in the delivery. Reason given: 100 faulty microwaves were sent back to the manufacturer to be "refurbished".
