Boo!! I went for soil, flower pots and an ice scraper. Every single saucer for the large pots I bought was full of bird poop and there were zero employees in the garden section I guess since it's February. So, no large saucers. I went to the Automotive section for the ice scraper -- none there. So passing the self-checkout I asked the employee standing there and she pointed me to automotive. When I told her they weren't there she looked it up in her phone and sent me to aisle 45 at the other end of the store. I hunted everywhere in this aisle of cleaning supplies, nearby end caps, but, nothing of the sort. I went to check out. No regular checkouts were open, only self-checkout. The employee did not ask me if I found my ice scraper. When I went to scan the saucers for my small flower pots, they did not have barcodes or any tags. Based on my HD experience thus far, I imagined the hassle and long wait ahead in finding the code or price for these items, and just decided to leave them there un-bought. As I was leaving, the employee did grab the saucers and ask me if I forgot them, so that's a plus!, but I told her they had no bar codes so I couldn't scan them and left. I expected HD to be nicer, more expensive and WAY better than Lowe's and Walmart which I also have access to and carry the items I needed (maybe based on my experience with HD in NJ and Atlanta? I'd never been to this one). I go to the Lowe's a lot and am sorry I ever thought them a step down from HD! PRODUCT REPLACEMENT NIGHTMARE - "No, there is no way you can buy this product from us" I leave this review on Yelp, because I could not find a "Contact Us" or any easy link to leave feedback directly to Home Depot - which is a problem in and of itself. In brief, we purchased a GE Dehumidifier from Home Depot as well as the extended 2-year replacement insurance. The product stopped working after 18 months (no surprise there - "GE"). Found the receipt and initiated the claim - took a few days, but as a replacement, Home Depot issued a Gift Card for the amount we purchased the product for. So far, so good. It was easy, seamless, hassle-free - everything we had hoped it would be. With my gift-card in hand, we went to our local Home Depot and purchased (the last one on the shelf) a LG Dehumidifier. It was slightly more expensive but got good reviews. Brought it home and it had apparently been (very) damaged at some point in transit to the store. Next day, we boxed it up and took it back. They issued another gift card, using my wife's ID because I had left my wallet at home. We just wanted to replace the damaged LG product with one just like it. Here is where Home Depot begins reveal itself as just another "Good" company when there were clearly many opportunities to be a "Great" company. Remember, we purchased the last LG at THAT particular store, but we were told that they can be ordered online and there were 6 of them at another Home Depot about 30 miles away. My questions to the Home Depot people: Can you have one (another LG) shipped to our home and let us use this gift card? "No" Can you have one shipped from the store down the road to this store and let me come and get it? "No" Can you order one online for us using the gift card? (after trying) "No" Can I go home and order one online and use the gift card? "I don't know, Maybe" Will you be getting any more in stock soon? "The computer says there should be 13 coming, but I have no idea when, it could be never because there is no date" So we leave the store with a gift card in hand but no Dehumidifier. I pony up to my computer to order the LG. It is in stock, YAY. I put it in the cart and attempt to use my gift card. NOPE - not allowed. The Home Depot website does say that the store 30 miles away has 6 units and there is an OPTION to have one delivered. NOPE - not allowed with a gift card. So sorry. So the next day, we pile up in the car and drive the 30 miles to the other Home Depot and find the LG Dehumidifier (as well as a 2nd non-LG, non-GE dehumidifier) ... about $650 in merchandise in total. At the register, we present the gift card. They ask me for my license, which they scan (remember, they issued the card using my wife's ID). The fact that they tried to activate the card with my ID, when it was my wife's ID that it was issued to - caused an automatic and irrevocable 24-hour lock on the gift card. (would have been a GREAT time for the Home Depot employee to clarify those details PRIOR to scanning my ID. Maybe they just expected me to know about this security limitation) Is there someone in the store that can remove the lock? "No" Can I put these purchases on my Home Depot card and then apply the gift card to those purchases when the card is no longer locked? "No - so sorry." Is there anything you or anyone in this store can do to help me buy this Dehumidifier with this gift card today? "No. Not today. So sorry." So we left. No purchase. But we still have this stupid gift card. End result? We will use the gift card (my wife will) whenever we have to buy potting soil or a light bulb or something. I will NEVER buy an appliance again from Home Depot (we have purchased several large appliances from them before) and will be ordering the LG from Amazon where I know I will not have to deal with nonsense like this. read more

Store management trying to run the store on bare bones. went in the store- 2 young men sitting in chairs out front making sure you come in the correct door. Enter store and mingle my way through the entire store to the other side (where I wasn't allowed to enter) chose merchandise and then expected to handle a dirty hand scanner and check myself out. Asked to be checked out by cashier and reluctantly she she attempted to treat me like Home depot was doing me a favor to let me spend 480.00. I spent a lot of money at Home depot Waynesboro as a contractor and have put up with crapy customer service, but this last visit is making me rethink going back to Lowes. Sad read more

Despite having made multiple purchases through the years, we will NEVER shop with Home Depot again. Can I give them zero stars? We purchased a refrigerator from them a month ago, after verifying that the model was the same size as the one we have. They set up a delivery date that included taking the old one. On said delivery date, the delivery man refused to deliver it, telling me that it was too deep to fit through the doorway. After verifying the dimensions online, I immediately called HD & the salesperson also verified that the floor model was smaller than necessary to fit through the doorway, BUT they had to reschedule the delivery for another week out, despite the fact that the refrigerator was ON THE TRUCK & the deliverers couldn't have been more than a mile from our house! After waiting the additional week, I again cleaned out the old unit, & waited for delivery. This time, the deliverers came in & informed me that to take the old refrigerator, they "were not allowed" to take a door off of it to remove it, something that had never been mentioned beforehand. This time, I called the store while they were still here & the salesperson had never heard of such a policy either. AND, while I was on the phone, the delivery team got in their truck & left, without saying a word, leaving the refrigerator pulled out and my front door WIDE OPEN. At this point, we were livid & went to the store to talk to the supervisor. We got no satisfaction; he claimed they were powerless in the situation and wanted to AGAIN just reschedule the delivery. When my husband asked how they could ensure the delivery would be made on the THIRD attempt, he basically said they couldn't ensure it and that these situations "were such a small percentage" of total deliveries, that there really wouldn't be repercussions for the pathetic service. So we canceled the order & asked to have the money credited back to our credit card. It has now been 12 days & we have yet to hear a word about reimbursement. So all in all, HD has had our money for a month for a product never received! Terrible customer service!!! read more

I have a disability and the management followed ADA accommodations without me having to remind him that it was a federal regulation. The store manager, Danny, was kind and very professional. We don't have a Home Depot in our area, so we traveled to the one in Waynesboro. Everyone was so friendly, even staff that was just walking past us in the aisles. Patty in flooring helped us finalize our flooring needs. She was knowledgeable and very friendly, making us feel welcome. Then Blake was nice enough to help us load in into our van. He too was courteous and friendly. Good customer service needs to be recognized, and both Patty and Blake demonstrated this. I rented a Penske truck here and the guy with gray hair took his time helping me--in a bad way. He stood around talking to coworkers about nonsense wasting my time when I was on a schedule. Then he wouldn't even check the truck for damage with me. My drop off location was blown away as he didn't even give me the proper paperwork. I would go anywhere else unless I absolutely had to go to this store for something. Awful, awful, rude, exhausting, frustrating employees. I live in Charlottesville and we don't have a Home Depot here. I was in upstate New York in October and purchased some furniture feet. I didn't come home immediately and did not try the furniture feet until today. I found that they do not work. I called and was told that if I had a H.D. credit card the return policy was 1 year, but with another credit card it is 90 days. I don't make a practice of returning items and certainly do not keep them for a long time. Most stores will take items back if you call and explain the problem. They would not! Don't bother with online orders or delivery with this store. Had a $500 order for soil and amendments I placed on line. The store called me the night before delivery and stated they lacked one item. It took almost an hour to find out what items they actually had for a possible substitute. Although the online site listed 145 bags in stock, the store claimed they had none. They then had to call in the "garden" person to speak to me. She had no idea at all about the different soil types or compost the store had to offer. Cancelled that item and was told I would be called between 6am and 8am the next day by delivery driver. Received a call from the delivery driver at 6:30 am the following day telling me that my address was not in his system so he couldn't deliver it. I had to call the store and speak again to the same manager I spoke with the evening before. He had no recollection of our prior one hour conversation. 30 minutes later, listening to all kinds of banterings between the manager and an employee, the manager says,"UH-OH, we can't deliver this until Friday-is that OK?". His excuse, "Ma'am, we cannot control cyber-space". I cancelled the order and will never bother with Home Depot again. If their own employees cannot manage the corporations computer system , as was claimed, then I certainly can't trust it either. Really sad customer service and very poor excuses. I paid them to install flooring in my home and they did a terrible job; after I halted the installation due to the bad job they were doing. When I asked them to fix the floor they had installed before continuing with the installation, the installers said they would have to pull it all up and refused to fix it. Home Depot took up the new flooring and left me with bared concrete slab. I hired a flooring inspector and provided HD with the flooring inspectors report which concluded that the installers did a bad job and did not follow installation procedures, but HD still refuses to refund me the installation fee. There is always someone to greet you and to point you in the right direction for what you need. Genuine, friendly people who know their stuff or will find the answer for you if they don't. I cannot understand why this store is not packed when I go in, and I drive a fair distance to go there. Beats the competition hands-down. Wow! What an amazing store. I can't speak for the previous customers, but I have never had a retail experience to match the experience I had at The Waynesboro Home Depot. I came in looking for a water heater. I was directed to the water heater aisle by a friendly gentleman at the door. Another worker assisted me at the water heaters, and told me all about them, even showed me how to hook it up. Finally, when we loaded it, it wouldn't fit in my vehicle. A worker loaded it in the back of their truck and delivered it for me on his way home. Keep up the great work. Haters gonna hate. read more

I bought a Rigid generator on January 20, 2016 in preparation of a snow storm. I filled it with oil but did not put gas in it. We never lost power so I covered the generator and put it in a corner of my garage. Well I needed the generator on October 12, 2016. I put gas in it for the first time and went to pull the cord. It wouldn't budge. It was locked up. Placed a call to the store and they could send it away to Georgia for repair. Their policy doesn't allow them to do anymore than that. I now have to go rent a generator and pay for it out of my pocket while I wait weeks to get my generator back. I will not be shopping at Home Depot anymore.Very poor customer service. read more
