The woman at the counter spoke excellent English and translated for us, and the tattoo artist did a fantastic job on my piece. It wasn't a big tattoo, but his suggestions and advice made it clear he's capable of much more. The studio was spotless, and he showed me the new, sealed needle before starting. I felt completely in good hands the entire time.

I took him the bare bones of a custom design and he created a work of art. The needles are new, the equipment is sterilized and he wears gloves and a mask when creating. His prices are extremely reasonable for such a talented tattooist. Its easy to find him - from the hotel zone take any R1 bus downtown and ask the driver to stop at el ayuntamiento (City Hall). Cross to the other side of the avenue (av. Tulum) and turn right towards the traffic circle. Kukulcan Tattoo Studio is located in a small strip mall right before the circle. Make the effort to get out of the hotel zone and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Right next store to my hotel, so I wouldn't get wet on the walk over. $50 USD, I'm told, plus tip and credit card service charge, should I use one. Pedicure started a bit rocky as the faucet of the sink basin wasn't working properly. My technician had to draw water from another receptacle and deliver it to the basin. On to the pedicure, she drew blood on not one, but two different toes with her cutting of nails. When scrapping my feet for dead skin, I had to prompt a stop as she scrapped a bit too much. I did count my toes to make sure I had all ten. Manicure was a bit better with technique and cutting style. About halfway through the mani, I was offered a refreshment - water, tea, or coffee. I opted for espresso an hour into my visit. Staff were okay, although they spoke little to no English for a seemingly high-end business in the Cancun hotel zone. Personally, I won't return.

At first, my masseuse seemed like she knew what she was doing, but things became uncomfortable once she asked me to flip onto my back. She lifted the sheet so high that I could see her face, which completely defeated the purpose of being covered. After that, there was little to no actual massage done on the front of my body. At one point, she stretched my legs in a way that exposed my private areas, and later she lowered the sheet too far and briefly exposed my breasts. For a large portion of the session, she mainly rubbed oil on my body without any real technique or pressure. There was a serious lack of professionalism throughout the experience. While there is often a misconception that Americans have endless money, we still work hard for what we earn and should be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor without feeling uncomfortable or taken advantage of. A massage should feel safe and respectful, and this did not. I would not recommend this place unless you are prepared to feel exposed and disappointed.

They guide you through a full relaxation process starting with the sauna, then moving to the cold room, and finishing in the steam room. After arriving, my girlfriend and I went to the gender separate areas, put our stuff away in the changing area and go into robes and slippers, and met up with our designated attendee. I was then escorted to the dry sauna first, where I stayed for about 15 minutes, and then was escorted to the steam room for about 10 minutes. Due to time, I was unable to enjoy the hot and cold pools this time and was escorted to the waiting area for my massage. I scheduled an 80-minute deep tissue massage, which was great. Definitely felt nice and relax after everything! Overall: I would highly recommend the spa and massage experience at Awe Spa if you get the chance. I would arrive at least an hr early for your massage, so you can really enjoy the spa experience. It has a really nice and relaxing setup, which is perfect prior to a massage.
