There's two…read morejungle gyms (one for older kids and one for younger kids), plenty of swings, a basketball court, skate park, recreation center and a huge field to play soccer, volleyball, etc. Both play structures for the kids are covered as well to block out the sun which is really nice during the summer since it gets hotter than literal Hell in El Cajon. There's usually a lot of kids so you'll hardly ever have to worry about taking your child and them having no one to play with. The only issue that I really have is that there's usually a family who comes who's kids like to wreak havoc and mess with other kids and they never discipline their children. I've definitely had to check someone else's child and have a conversation with their parents over their garbage behaviour. If that's something you think you can handle then this park is worth a visit.

We play at Muni Gym on Tuesdays, the leagues are well run, balanced and there are plenty of divisions to choose from. We love that there are rarely forfeits and league standings/scores are usually updated the night of games or within 24 hours. Leagues run year round without break except for playoffs which is nice to keep up our fitness. They also have leagues in other areas of the county which is cool. The league admin staff is very helpful with scheduling byes or special game times unlike other leagues, other leagues we played with in the past don't seem to have the customer service level or experience that San Diego Basketball has.

This is the first park I brought my daughter to back in the early 2000s. Throughout the years, I…read morecame here less and less due to the homeless population and weird adults hanging out at the park. Fast forward to November 14, 2025. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a welcome update to the south-facing green area of the park. The city of course had to uproot about a dozen big trees for this project but better that, than remain a homeless haven. Next to the courts, the city also built a pro-shop where paid members can hangout, buy refreshments and use the clean restrooms. Members also have the benefit of reserving a court. The wall separating the courts from the apartment complex is made with sound-absorbing material, the benches are shaded and there are properly designated paddle racks for each of the five courts. I was the second pickleball player to arrive for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the newly built pickleball courts. It was cool to see the usual suspects - friends I play with at Bostonia Rec Center and Lakeside courts, as well as new faces. This being the second El Cajon public pickleball court, me and my friends already started planning the days we will play here. This will most likely become another popular venue and one that will be maintained since local city leaders and council members are avid pickleball players themselves.
