I got the wings and the steak sandwich. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! The cashier and cook (owner?) were both fantastic and helped me figure out what I should do the next day to check out the town. A permanent food truck in the heart of downtown. The Hot Box Eatery and Tap may have at one time been a food truck, but now it is a permanent fixture of downtown Washington, GA. The food is excellent with large, thick sliced fries, and fish and chips. The service was quick and well done and we could not have enjoyed our meal more. Menu is so big and has a wide array of options for such a small place - Tommy and crew do it right and seem to enjoy what they do. Shrimp po boy is amazing but so is the brisket sandwich - the two things I've tried so far. Onion rings and dipping sauce are worth the drive .... A hidden gem for sure. read more

Stopped to eat here when driving to Athens from the Augusta area and needed a bite to eat. I ordered the chicken salad plate (salad, chicken salad and potato salad) and my husband got the brisket sandwich with wedge fries. Overall the food was good, nothing great... But good but the brisket...was pulled...which is weird... and there were no crackers for the chicken salad which I thought was quite odd. Good for the area, but not a 5 star, sorry. read more

Found this place on Yelp as we were driving through. Lots of options for everyone. Not your typical food truck. Set up in a permanent location with nice shaded umbrellas, a beautiful rosemary privacy hedge and a clean bathroom. Soft music and a silver disco ball complete the decor. Food is tasty, but not cheap. But it's worth it. The side salad was huge, tasty and came with a yummy house-made vinaigrette. The brisket plate could serve two people. My husband had the ribeye sandwich, which he declared delicious. Service was quick and food came quickly. Most other customers seemed to be locals eating on lunch break. What a gem! The menu has a great selection with some unique items and some all-time favorites. We had the pastrami on Swiss with rye - it came toasted with potato salad - clearly homemade and yummy! Also had a country fried steak sandwich that came in a lovely fresh Kaiser roll with tomato and lettuce - also delightful! Dessert was delicious - we had vanilla cream cake ands a chocolate mousse cake - we couldn't decide which were liked best! There place is unique with outdoor seating, great music, tucked away and quiet. We love an hour away and are delighted to have come across this place in beautiful Washington. We will be back - can't wait to try the grilled pimento cheese with a cup of tomato soup!! read more

Great food at this little spot. One of the only places for lunch on Mondays in Washington. We were in town to visit family and the 8 of us so enjoyed the food here. It is a little food truck/trailer sort of setup with an attached outdoor dining deck with umbrellas and fan. We had delicious fried shrimp, fried oysters, burgers, excellent potato wedge fries. One of had a salad which was fine dining gourmet level good. The egg roll appetizers must have been good, they disappeared in a flash : ( The service was great, the proprietor was very hospitable and gracious. There is an attached restroom too. All reasonably priced. The name says "Tap" but not this year with coronavirus closures and dropping the license. Great iced tea though! read more

What a fantastic find! We were on a drive looking for a nice place to have a bite and stretch our legs after a long drive. Beautiful patio to sit on. The customer service was friendly and informative. The food was delicious. The hot wings I would eat a few servings of. Fried shrimp was fresh and batter crispy. Nothing felt like it came out of a freezer bag, everything was very deliciously thought out and prepared. Great music! Would make this a permanent road stop in the future for us. read more
