I just saw pictures of an old pop…read moreup on this page and wanted to let everyone know this weekend (3/27/26 to 3/28/26) there was a Hannah Montana pop up with a long line that reached to 4 blocks long! It was so long. I awaited around 2 hours and did not get off the line because it looked so popular with many girls on the line. I knew it was worth it. Thank you Maybelline for hosting this Hannah Montana pop up. Inside was very beautiful with many exhibits of Hannah Montana for everyone to take pictures of. There was a dressing room with many chairs and vanity mirrors with big lights. Maybelline makeup chests and makeup products were all decorated on the vanity sets. There was a section of Hannah Montana's stage clothes that everyone can take pictures with. It was very vibrant and colorful. Very fun to hang out with your girls and take pictures. In the end we got to take a photo using a professional camera and got to download it to our phones and email. Each person got a gift bag to take home with many different types of cosmetics from Maybelline. No wonder the line to this pop up was so long! Apart from the gift bag, each person got to take a gold dust Magnum chocolate covered vanilla bar home. The ice cream was so cute and pretty. It said "HM 20" to represent the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana, which is currently airing on Disney Hulu.

Cute pop up but needs to work on a few things…read more Upon entering you have the opportunity to pose in a short video clip. They advised it would take 5 minutes to arrive. It's fun, but we never received our graffiti spray video clip. Then as you walk into the eyeshadow palette area with iPads. I later learn on my way out the area was a station for eye shadow palettes. But of course the colors were mostly out with only 2 palettes to choose from of the many available from the make up fashion house. There is a wall of play art with sequins on the wall, and a facing lounge area with couches. A large pink table covered in stickers was empty. Most attendees crowded around the make your own matte lip ink. A big mess. Nice concept, but it was so crowded. Ink syringes were empty, and colored jars were out of reach. Everyone was just grabbing things off the table and many took forever to make their colors. The DIY table was staffed with 4. Maybe if they doubled the staff and limited the time and/or colors to make it more streamlined it would have been less chaotic. A side section of coffee was served, but when I got there they were already done. Luckily I picked up Stumptown (blocks away...and so very good) on my way in and grabbed one to go on my way to the station. Some mini donuts in boxes were placed along the walls as we waited to choose an ink crayon which consisted of one staff trying on different colors and letting you pick quickly. The tattoo section featured a draped pillowy bed and a crowd lining up for eye lining. A side couch had an artist providing eyeliner tattoos of abstract profiles on your arm. Although I met and chatted with the brand ambassador which made the near two hour wait fly by (sort of) when it was our turn for the eyeliner...it took 2 minutes to apply for my mom and 4 mins for my daughter. The liner came out clean and crisp, and they were able to choose a base shimmer to take home but Yikes...and yes, it was one artist at any given time to apply liner. When one returned the other went on break. The chairs in front of the clock of foundation and the swaying curtain swings were the most memorable and enjoyable from this event. Most of our time was spent waiting. In reflection, the pop up is a great experience to sample their line of products but there was no sampling. It was evident they tried hard for this event and did the best with limited staff. The only issue was waiting and supply. I'd revisit, because we still had a fun time.

I love the Ridgewood Market!…read more This Sunday was the first time that I attended. It actually took place on Summerfield Street, which is right near my house (so I had no excuse not to attend!). So my local artisans and businesses were represented here! Not only establishments from Ridgewood (Norma's, Rudy's) but there are tons of other cool vendors from all over NYC represented here! MartiniHandmades (from whom I got an awesome terrarium and bracelet), an awesome empanada table, someone serving shrimp and grits! So many local artists, jewelry makers and thrift stores! I know that this market is awesome, because even my boyfriend, who usually does not enjoy these types of things, found several vendors, items and foods that he loved! Score! Everyone was friendly and some vendors even took credit cards! What a great way to get to meet people from your neighborhood and support local artisans! I can't wait to do all of my holiday shopping at Ridgewood Market!

It actually is a monthly event held at Gottscheer Hall; I stopped by the initial one in April. It is categorized on Yelp as a "flea market" at moment, but that is really a misnomer; while there were a few booths selling used goods it is predominantly an indoor arts & crafts fair, with some booths selling food products to boot. This might be a good place to check if you were buying gifts; the majority of the goods are likely more appealing to women than men from my judgement. One aspect I do appreciate is that the vendor pool seems to display a relatively diverse range of ages, ethnicities, and tastes and the same goes for the crowd perhaps due to advertising that is also locally-focused; it doesn't feel so much like some of the similar craft markets held in other boroughs, but has a less-pretentious, very neighborhoodly Queens vibe. It seems to, consciously or not, embody Ridgewood quite well rather than attempting to replicate an outside aesthetic in this old neighborhood. Hopefully it becomes even more diverse and representative of the neighborhood as the event evolves. The best part is seeing so many people at Gottscheer Hall for a public event during daytime hours, as well as being able to get eggs and other brunchtime foods they don't normally serve.

First off, it's an impressive and imposing building, a former ConEd electrical substation so you've got a sturdy building with high clearances. Then you take on the fact that Walter De Maria (whose installations are still on view elsewhere in the city) used this building as his home and studio, and as a De Maria fan that's worthy of note. So whatever art is on, you have a unique setting. As for the art, there are 4 viewable galleries (shop at the ground floor), and the top floors have windows that give great views of the city. (An elevator will take you between floors so it is accessible though stairs are available too.) As mentioned, there was a Haring show happening when I visited. I wasn't terribly sure about the $20 price, unable to discern if it was going to be more like a gallery than a museum exhibition. But it was a museum-quality show and it took me about 45 minutes to make it through. The setting worked especially well for Haring - some of the art on show was subway chalk drawings he had made, and when they were paired with the brick backing of the room it looked authentic to the subway station where he created the work originally. Well worth the money. For this show at least there was a timed admission but it was not crowded and despite the respectable attendance you can still have an intimate experience.

I visited the Brant Foundation last Sunday to see their current exhibit on Keith Haring (which…read morecloses on May 31). It was my first visit, and I was really blown away by the space. It kind of falls somewhere between a gallery and a museum - their full name is "The Brant Foundation Art Study Center" - so what exactly are you in for? It's an exhibition space - no permanent collection - so they are open for exhibits and closed while the next exhibit is being installed. And it has a hefty admission price (I paid $20 for my admission to the Keith Haring exhibit). But if there's an exhibit you're interested in, there's nothing like the Brant. The space is incredible. The Brant is located in a former Consolidated Edison substation, so it has 7,000 square feet of space that looks industrial and loft-like, yet has incredible ceiling height and light. They also have two adjacent gardens. It's one of the most incredible spaces I've seen an art exhibit. On top of that, the exhibit was incredible. By scanning a QR code, you could pull up each of the pieces in the exhibit by floor of the Brant and read about them. As almost all of Keith Haring's work was untitled, I do wish they had included more context and information about the works included, but I was still floored by the exhibit and the works they were able to put together for the show. When I was shopping in their gift shop before leaving, I realized just how many incredible exhibits they've put on in their history. As soon as I got home, I signed up for their email newsletter so I don't miss their next great exhibit.

The gaming stations conveniently have headphones, keyboards, and mouses for you with Steam pre-downloaded. One thing to note is that to borrow you headphones, you have to hand over a card at the front, which you get back once you return the headphones. Connecting the headphones to audio inputs/exports might take some troubleshooting with some computers. The ticket prices are a steal. You're greeted with a friendly face at the door, and they're helpful when answering any questions.

I was standing there like what if I like it and now I'll have to spend 20 plus an eventual 30. Fuck, ay dios mio, bloodclot!!! Okay, I checked out the first and second levels. Most of the gaming systems have issues: and the remotes are barely functional! Some consoles are not fully configured, and several are not logged into accounts, making proper gameplay impossible. The damn bartender is the one who is supposed to show you how to play the game. He didn't even know what to do and gave a lame ass sorry! The foosball table is entirely unusable, and the pool table is shaky and not steady. The atmosphere is just as bad. The absence of music creates a dull and lifeless atmosphere in the space. The staff appear to be entirely disengaged and unhelpful. I cancelled that damn membership with the quickness and made that boy show me the cancelled part on his screen. Fucking bye forever! Don't waste your time!

We arrived a bit early and they allowed us to sit at their bar while we waited for the rest of the guests (which by the way, they have a fantastic wine selection). We had a full class of 20, and it was wonderful because everyone was there for a good time. We were led by Jen who was a fantastic host and got all of us rolling (bad dad joke) in no time. Considering the size of our class, and the fact that none of us had experience, I thought the flow of the class was welcoming and very easy to follow. There are two other chefs there that help to guide you along the way, with their own witty personalities that brought smiles to all of our faces. With this class, you're really making pasta from scratch. We started with just flower and eggs, and they walked us through turning it into the proper dough. While we let the pasta rest, we split up to do other prep work. Some of us made a pesto sauce, while others made the ragu. We ended up making bruschetta which was DELICIOUS. Once we all finished that, we got back to the pasta and began making the actual noodles. This all is part of why I loved the experience. Initially, we thought we were only making our own servings, but we found out that everyone was cooking for each other. It was a wonderful feeling seeing that we all literally made our dinner from scratch. I liked the fact that we had made two types of sauces for the pasta, so that there was variety for everyone. The pasta itself was PHENOMENAL. This was the first time I ever tried home made pasta and it changed my perspective on good Italian food. It was so light and flavorful. The pesto and ragu sauces were also spectacular. I didn't have a favorite as they were equally good. The amount we made was also VERY generous, and we had a lot of leftover pasta, which they encouraged us to take home. After dinner we ended up sharing some brownies and ice cream to celebrate three birthdays that evening. We sang happily and indulged in the desert which was wonderful. One thing to mention is that they do photos and videos of the entire event, and I love that because it allows you to focus and really savor the moment, as opposed to trying to get the perfect shot for your social media. They send an email afterwards with quality footage which should grant you plenty of options for your social media needs. The photos and videos in this review were taken by them, and there was even more to choose from. Overall, Bite Unite NYC was one of the best experiences I've ever had anywhere. I couldn't shut up about it afterwards, and I even ended up buying my own pasta maker. Not to sound weird or anything, but it literally changed my life. And honestly that's thanks to the incredible staff, location, quality of the ingredients, and the set up overall. I have zero complaints about Bite Unite NYC, and if you have any interest in attending a class, it comes highly recommended by yours truly. I'll definitely be returning for their other class offerings.
