Beautiful view of active marina.a great find on our trip to gloucester. This hotel is right next to one of the marinas but very quiet! They do have a restaurant onsite but it is closed certain days and we were there then. The rooms are being redecorated and we were lucky to get a first floor room. The only draw back is that there is no elevator so if you. We'd assistance hope there is a first floor room. The staff were gracious to accommodate our needs. Disappointing, and not priceworthy. The Cape Ann Marina is lucky that it's got a great location and not a lot of competition among newer, cleaner hotels. It's run down and need of major repairs. Maintenance is lacking. (Examples: a broken dresser drawer, missing or barely hanging on towel racks, mold on the floor boards.). The rooms are small. There's no closet. The bathrooms are tiny. The desk is skinny and has a foot stool instead of a chair (!!) See pictures. Most annoyingly the floorboards squeak loudly from old timber, especially from the floor above. **You will be woken up by it.** On a positive note, the bartender staff and waitresses were upbeat and friendly. The food was good and the drinks were not watered down. But the bar closes too early at 9:00 and breakfast is only served on weekends. They charge a non-refundable $20 per person breakfast table reservation fee. (That's quite insulting IMO.). Their pool is permanently closed. There is no evening congregation place to mingle with friends and family. For $170+ weekdays and $220+ weekends, it's too much money for too little accommodations. We had a blast- pool was clean, hot tub was really nice, and the meals/drinks were excellent. One of the bartenders was having a rough day- as I assumed & which she admitted- but other than that, going to the Crow's Nest nearby and checking out the photo album from The Perfect Storm should definitely make the list when visiting! Beautiful beaches near by and a castle tour as well. A brewery in Essex on the way home made for a great stay. I got my parents a gift card here for their anniversary & they're excited to check it out, too! Having a room on the water was awesome. :) read more

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation here. We were on the second floor and the view from our deck was wonderful from sunup to sundown. Neither of us can function without coffee so the Keurig was a much appreciated touch. The room was modern and spotless as were the pool and restaurant. They have these fantastic clear igloos out on their deck for private dining with a great view of the marina. We enjoyed several meals at the resort, including a special one in one of the igloos, and were very satisfied. The main thing I want to compliment is the quality of the staff. Every person we encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. We will be back! read more

I had some small issues that the manager and I worked through. Apparently they have security I could have called about a very loud TV in an adjacent room, but I don't stay in hotels often and didn't know it existed. Kudos to the cleaning crew. ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Horrible customer service. This establishment is awful. I intended to stay here with my daughter until she fell very ill. I called to cancel (3 days before reservation date) and explained my situation as to why we needed to cancel. Amy at the front desk felt no remorse for our situation and denied the return of our hefty deposit. She acted like she didn't even hear what I was saying. I asked to speak with her manager and she said she would call me back. Manager never called me back, but Amy did and again told me they were keeping my deposit money. I don't think she went to her manager at all. I get rules, but have some remorse. Humanity goes a long way, Amy. read more

Not what we expected for the money spent staying there. The balcony is not for individual rooms, cannot sit and have a cup of coffee. Was supposed to receive a change of towels etc and did not. The lamp that was between our beds was faulty...realize it the next day when my cell wasn't charged. It was just not worth it! The only thing we enjoyed was the restaurant. For the price paid, I expected a much better experience here. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. The woman who greeted us at the front desk was very kind and helpful; she's the main reason for the second star. Our room had a strong musty-type smell. The bathrooms are quite small and were not entirely clean (my boyfriend noticed that the toilet had not been thoroughly cleaned for us). Otherwise, the room provided a bed and a shower which is all you could ask for (if paying a smaller price). We only ate at the restaurant once and were both happy with our salads (which were HUGE). When checking out early Monday morning, there was a different woman at the front desk. She was incredibly rude and condescending. Based on her behavior, I would suggest Cape Ann's retrain their employees on "hospitality." Needless to say, if ever I return to Gloucester I will not be staying here. read more

$251 a night for a double, and it was totally not worth it. If you don't mind paying that much for a room, no elevator, only stairs. Rooms that look like they are from 1960. Clearly this would be your style. Travel agent of 35 years and I truly feel as if I was monetarily taken advantage of. I would never stay at this property again, you may as well sleep on your boat or go camping, services would be the same. We stayed two nights. The bathroom didn't feel clean, no closet, a box with with hangars. The mirror and light fixtures rusty ...... lamp didn't work, between the beds. When my neighbor turned on their shower I flew out of bed as I thought it was a siren going off. Toilet was on a tilt, no, it didn't rock, it was not level. Shower was not level. As a travel agent, I was embarrassed to have paid $500 for two nights, truly embarrassed. read more

I rarely give reviews and I never give negative ones. But I have to suggest that you proceed with caution here. I just returned from my long awaited trip with my sister . I drove past the entrance of this "inn" as it looked like it belonged to a trailer park, I thought certain this was just a sign for the place up ahead but no, it was in fact, the place. I tried to stay positive, pulled all the way in, construction equipment everywhere, giant cranes and bulldozers. Huge piles of dirt and not even a feeble attempt at prettying the parameter up. I felt so bad because the places that my sister chose for our first nights in another town was charming and special. I asked at the desk if I could cancel my reservation (anything else would have been better) but they said no. I asked if I could soak in the jacuzzi as I had been on the road for hours and my back hurt. Again, no. Okay. Up to the room, stairs only, be prepared to haul your luggage. At this point my heart is in my gut because nothing I was seeing looked like the photos on the website. In the room, it smelled so strong of cleaning solution I felt like I was in a gas station restroom. The carpet is at least ten years old if not twenty. The furniture is dinged, scuffed and outdated. The curtains are from the seventies. The bathroom was like a run down motel six. This was our big trip, we saved for a year, I had the kids with family so I could see my sis and relax in a charming seaside inn. I wanted to cry. Sis and I stopped in a gift shop after dinner and bought candles to kill the smell of dingy carpeting and cleaning solution. When we stopped at the desk to ask for bottled water they said they don't have any and directed us to a convenience store. So late at night, freezing, about to rain, we head back out for water. They also only give you one towel, even though we had a room with two beds and two ladies needing to wash hair etc. The next day we walked by another place we were going to book and it was adorable, right by the water, clean and cheaper than this place! I was going to let Cape Ann "Resort" keep the funds and book at the other place but being Veterans Day weekend it had sold out. I'm only leaving this review because I would have appreciated the warning. Coming all the way from Los Angeles it was my luck that I picked the only place around that lacked charm and hospitality. I'm giving an extra star because the bed wasn't horrible. Huge disappointment and would have expected advanced warning about the layout, the construction zone and no elevators. There are plenty of other darling places around for the same or lower price. This was the only bummer in our whole trip read more

Was my home away from home for many years. Their pool and hot tub have been closed. No word on when it might reopen. Their aquaroom was what set this hotel apart from all other hotels except the new Beauport. I sincerely hope their pool and hot tub reopen soon. Deal breaker for me otherwise. read more

Nice place. This is a nice hotel beautiful views but the walls are very, very thin. You can hear everything. People passing the room on the outside catwalk or hallway is so loud. My husband and I were sleeping and we're awoken by Fred Flintstone feet above us plus his loud conversation. Shower is warm but the tub is so creaky you don't know if you are going to fall through the ceiling or not. The restaurant is good. The wait staff is good depending on who you get. The fried fish on Fridays is a great deal and so good. Get the chicken parmesan rolls for an app you will not be disappointed read more

I ABSOLUTELY have to write a rebuttal and review for Cape Ann Marina Resort. I have read the positive reviews and could not AGREE with them more! They are spot-on and they quite accurately reflect the FAMILY ORIENTED and FUN environment that the Cape Ann Marina Resort offers to it's guests and local tourists alike. I am highly disappointed with those who DO NOT LIKE a place that welcomes children and young adults as much as it does business class and older travelers alike. I am often conducting business in Gloucester. As a single mother working late into a Friday evening, I often have my 12 and 13 year old sons in tow. The Marina ALWAYS accommodates them and the staff are always so courteous and mindful of them! My children are able to enjoy a swim in the pool, a nice meal, and great conversation with other guests and visitors. (As I sit poolside with business partners and associates). They are polite boys who act accordingly. The staff ALWAYS warmly greets them and have made it a point to know them by name. The facility is CLEAN, SAFE, FAMILY oriented, and MOST DEFINITELY provides an ambiance that ALL are welcome. The Cape Ann Marina does not discriminate based on age, race, religion, income, status, or any of the sort. I find it pleasing to visit a place where all are treated equally. I have stayed at hotels and resorts all over the world. I have stayed at 5 star resorts for nearly $1000/night in New York and did not NEARLY enjoy the ambiance or environment that the Cape Ann Marina offers. Call me crazy - but I do not like staying at hotels or resorts where the staff act as if they are doing you a favor for just doing their job - just so I can say that I stayed there. (Been there, done that.) The Cape Ann Marina and resort is a place where you can RELAX by the water, appreciate the GENUINE and accommodating staff, socialize at the open-deck bar, take in some local music, swim at the pool, indulge in a delightful and well-priced meal, go to historic downtown Gloucester and take in the cute and eclectic stores . . . What is is not is a pretentious, cater to businessmen/women only, or discriminating place. It is where people are kind and real and do not get wrapped up on the small things in life, like a door that sticks. read more

Stayed here over MDW and enjoyed it very much. From check-in, everyone was super friendly and had smiles on their faces. The rooms were comfortable with all amenities needed. The bar at night with live music was great and an overall friendly atmosphere. I accidentally left some clothes in the dresser and when I called them, they were very kind about it. They quickly got the clothes, boxed it up, and shipped it to me. I was expecting to pay a lot for the effort they needed to go through, but they didn't overcharge me at all! My favorite past time is staying at Cape Ann's Marina Resort a few weekends throughout summer with our entire marina. Families of all ages would head up and thoroughly enjoy all the amenities Cape Ann had to offer. Lunch and mudslides by the pool during down time or even rainy days with all of the kids. At night listening to live music on their beautiful patio overlooking the Marina. Gloucester is a fun place to go with lots of restaurants down town and beautiful beaches on the Anna squam but CAMR added another element of fun and was one of our favorite places to stay. Unfortunately the place has gone down the drain with some sort of new management or ownership. If it doesn't change our entire marina will no longer be making our way there various times throughout the summer . We recently went with a big group of people for the fourth . We were never told that the pool is now filled with 5 fish (SO TACKY AND BIZZARE!!!) so guests are unable to use it. So while it rained the fourth weekend and we still decided to go Becuase the kids would have the pool we sat at the marina with not much to do. Same price ..but no pool. There was a pool During covid, you just had to make an appointment (which was fine) so this is NOT covid related Becuase we swam last summer . Monday and Tuesday the restaurant is closed so we couldn't use that either . So a complete waste of space. No live music at night either, ever anymore, Because they couldn't figure out how to control the young party kids . They put all this money into making the inside look updated while taking away the best parts of the resort . Not to mention the manager working at the hostess stand was RUDE to my friend with a support animal. You have LOST our business unless something changes . I pray something does Becuase we love the Marina staff and everything CAMR had to offer. Our kids were heartbroken and us adults are truly disappointed . Get it together CAMR !!!!! read more

This is a decent place to stay. My only real complaints are that the doors don't quite fit the door frames, so you have to slam them all the time (which is loud!), and the shower curtains reek of mildew. For the price, I was expecting something a little nicer. It's also far from soundproof--I could hear the teenagers next to me yammering away all night. On the upside, there's a heated pool and a helpful staff at the front desk. The views are nice, too, especially the second and third floors. The location is so-so, and it's a short walk to downtown. There's also a movie theater, restaurant, and liquor store across the street. If I came to Gloucester again, I doubt I'd stay here, unless other places in town were much more than the $133/night I paid at the Cape Ann's Marina Resort. Oh, yes--but it's a good place to host an event. They have a tent/event area between the two hotel buildings that's just gorgeous, and functioned perfectly for the wedding reception I attended. read more

Me and my boyfriend thought about staying here for our weekend in Gloucester, and we're glad we didn't. I will say that who ever designs their website and brochures does a stellar job-it looks fabulous, like an actual, fancy resort. It's more like a okay hotel in a small town. The pool and hot tub are equivalent to something you'd find at a Best Western or something. Didn't actually see the rooms though. But we did eat at the restaurant. Again, average place, with a nice view of the river and boats. The tuna appetizer was the best! The rest of our meal-burger, soup and salad, was just okay. And even though there were only about 3-4 other tales in there, it took a good amount of time to get our food (and our entrees were cheeseburger and soup/salad-easy!) read more

I'd really give this a 1-star, but I'd feel bad! This place hasn't been renovated since it was built most likely--very early 80s decor, and for a place near the water it is a bit tough not to sense all of the moisture in the room. The bed was hard, sheets weren't soft, it was a definite downgrade from our home, and that is not what I expect when you stay at a place with "Resort & Spa" in the title. We got there so late at night we decided to order pizza in Gloucester, and even that took 50 minutes to get there. Also--their wifi was down, and there was a note on the sink about how the water may come out pink/brown colored, but if you let it run for a few minutes it will taste fine. Overall--don't stay here unless you absolutely have to. Apparently Rockport Inn is supposed to be much nicer and not out of price range. read more

The hotel room has seen better days. All pictures already on here are accurate, scuffed, dirty floor boards, dirty grout, chipped bath tub. No towel racks in the bathroom. Overall, the rooms give more of a motel vibe, than a resort vibe. A single chair outside your door to sit on the shared balcony. I would say this hotel should be more in the $200 per night range max, based on the state of the rooms. Location was good, in walking distance to stage fork park. read more

Decent place that was a nice one-night stay on a warm winter day. I echo other people's comments about the pool. They were hosting a "party" for kids and it was very, very loud and overrun when we arrived. I'm not sure if they have set times for events but they should it they don't. Also, I really wish they would disallow kids in the hot tub. It would be nice to have a place just for adults. But, the bar in the pool areas is great. Rooms are basic. You can tell that they've probably come a long way from what this hotel once way. We had issues with the plumbing. When the person in the other room turned on their shower, it sounded like it was in our room. We also had back ups in the tub and sink which we reported to the front desk. BUT, all staff were wonderful and pleasant. Price was really good. Breakfast in bed couldn't be beat! I recommend. read more

The brunch was one of the worst I've ever had, cheap fake eggs and fatty room temperature sausages...nasty. Stayed here from groupon 2 nights for 129.00. This is a party hotel. Pool was FILLED with kids unattended. They sell memberships to people for them to come swim in the hotel thus the pool is not exclusive to hotel guests....thus it was packed. The place was under constructruction and cobbled together with the front desk as a tiny desk just outside the packed pool and next to the hostess desk for the restaraunt...thus a crazy lobby with wet kids flying around and pissed people waiting to be seated fir food and I am waiting in line with all my luggage while they take five pictures of five family members fir five ID'S fir the pool. Walked up narrow spartan hallways and into the room. Several parties going with the doors open just like in the dorms in college...ohhh goodie. Room is very small and smelled like mildew. Opened the blinds onto the marina, and a nice couple whom were clearly in love, demonstrating that love while on their boat....really....demonstrating...their...love.... OK. So lets be clear...there are no balconys. There are narrow ledges that serve as a fire escape. The ledge runs along the entire floor and each room. The ledges have lots of smoking, drinking people on them. The room was ok...fridge sort of worked. Bed was really good with lux sheets. Dont touch the pilliow on the couch...ours had.... dried fluids....on it. The light above the bed worked...don't get dazzled by this marina being the wicked tuna marina. You are not allowed anywhere near these areas. This marina is in a salt marsh estuary with woods nearby and it smells intermittantly like ninja farts and the ass end of a skunk. read more

I love this place. We went for a Valentine's get-away. Pool area is clean, staff is friendly and accommodating. So much so that the chef made a special meal for us because we were dieting and the waitress didn't make a face when decided to split it. My one and only complaint is they didn't have tea available in the room and when by boyfriend went down to the complimentary coffee station, there was also no tea. When he asked the restaurant ppl for tea, they wanted to charge him. next time I'll be forewarned and bring my own tea, but they really should accommodate us tea drinkers. We stayed for 2 nights last weekend. Although my fiance last stayed here 6 years ago he had only great things to say and offered to take me and my teenage daughters for a weekend away February vacation. Rooms are clean but clearly in need of some renovation. The door of my daughters' room took 2-3 great tugs before the door would close. WIFI was poor and there were only about 5 stations on the television. The night we arrived, we ate in the restaurant and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Front desk staff and restaurant servers were courteous and polite. We went to the pool on Friday night and seeing that it was school vacation we expected lots of kids. Young children (all looked under the age of 10) eating ice cream in the jacuzzi and without adult supervision. My fiance told me that the hotel use to sell day passes for kids during school vacation week and he thought the pass ended at 6 pm. Kids never left the jacuzzi and after watching them eat and drink in it thought it best to try the pool/jacuzzi on Saturday night. We arrived on Saturday night and the pool was more packed than the night prior. The pool was rented out to a party of 50 (a group of 20 somethings with more men than women and more like 60 people). Hotel guests were overcrowded by the party group. Multiple rounds of drinks being brought to the jacuzzi and pool. My teenage daughters felt uncomfortable with the crowd and went to the room instead. My fiance and I had 1 drink and called it a night but not before he asked to speak to the manager. He voiced his dissatisfaction to Joe Loiacano, General Manager. Joe advised that this is how every weekend was at the hotel and the pool is rented out to outside parties and he wasn't going to let anyone tell him how to run his business. The bar was packed and it took 10 minutes to get a drink. As a hotel guest, you have to hunt for a table or chairs that are not occupied by non-hotel guests. The bar staff walk around the pool picking up empty beer bottles and cups. Here is my concern about this place. If rounds of drinks are being bought and delivered by the group to the jacuzzi or the pool who is monitoring alcohol consumption???? There were 8 people in the jacuzzi and at least 4 rounds of drinks were brought to them, not by hotel staff (not sure what was consumed prior) so if they are not staying at the hotel then they are driving after drinking. Big problem. Is Cape Ann's a hotel with a pool and hotel guests that spend their money for the accommodation or a fun bar that has a nice pool to party at. The hotel refunded our money. We will never stay here again. Avoid disappointing your families and find somewhere else to stay. read more

Our company had a meeting scheduled nearby and our team stayed at the hotel. On Day 2 the entire staff refused to leave and wanted to work onsite all day. In just a few minutes, the staff arranged for us to use their meeting room, with great wifi, and the team had an a wonderful breakfast, fun lunch on the deck and cocktails after. The team asked for all of our meetings to be held at the Cape Ann Marina from now on. read more

Called resort 10 plus times to ask if there was a transient dock open no response, were from out of state and don't know the area waters were rough,so we pulled up and just tied off at dock to run in and ask, sock master has no idea what he is doing everybody freaking out cause the boat where we park just pulled in it was a nice boat Atleast a hundred footer we have a 50ft, but boaters are supposed to help boaters. This place could care less about you and more about your money, sock master kept trying to explain to me why I couldn't do that by parking there, it is what it is at the point he's lucky I didn't punch him in the face how he talked to me just trying to swing his ding in front of the big boat which I get but stfu were both adults. Never mind the fact to bring your boat into the marina you have to go through a channel that's wicked rough and you'll prob wreck your boat if you're not experienced, if you do dock here I feel bad for you, place also thinks they are big cause wicked tuna boats are docked there, relax it's a fishing show and they don't care about any of y'all who dock there because of them. I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip in July of 2014. Not exactly a 'business type' hotel, however it was the only place with an available room. I was BEYOND happy with my accommodations. My room was clean and very comfortable. I was a little worried about the door access to the deck, as I was travelling alone. However, there was no noise or foot traffic on the deck and it saws actually a very relaxing place to sit and work while looking out at the boats. The attached restaurant was fantastic and well priced. Best Lobster Roll I have ever eaten! The staff was very friendly and stopped to chat with me at meals. I did not use the pool, but there was almost no one in it any time I walked by. I am very much looking forward to visiting again, as I can imagine this would be a great place to bring my husband or a few couples for a weekend.
