Captain's is a great spot by the beach, beach is so close it is literally behind the Inn (back deck beach view) Office staff employees are very nice and helpful. We will be back, we loved it !!

It is a beautiful place. Staff were warm and gracious and the place is sort of on top of the ocean. All rooms come with a balcony. All of them are private too which is really nice because you can sleep with the balcony door open listening to the waves crash! Better then some over the counter sleep aide for sure. Rooms are Nautical and quite quaint. Captan's Bounty is a hop, skip and a jump from downtown area where you c an wander about checking out all the art stores. Plenty of places to eat close by as well. Prices are great. And I can say with confidence that we would stay here again. It is a beautiful place and I am glad we chose to experience the beauty of Rockport at Captain's Bounty!

Location is perfect! Gorgeous view of the ocean, room was spotless and perfect for our Anniversary celebration with our adult sons. Quiet town, respectful people, will definitely be back!

When we pulled up and I saw the giant pirate and that we were staying at a motel I do have to admit I didn't think romance, or have high expectations. Oh how I was wrong, it was our anniversary so I'm glad the pirate didn't stop me from heading up to our room. We checked in and the woman in office greeted us with a warm smile and assured us anything we needed during our stay to call her. The room was super clean, brand new bathrooms, and had a cute kitchen. Not super fancy, but simple, and clean. The view though can not be beat and every single room has a balcony that faces the ocean. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves lapping onto the beach and woke up to the same sound. It was beautiful. Only tip I have is if you have trouble sleeping with a large firm pillow (stomach or back) bring your own, and if you wanted to go out at night, head over to Gloucester, everything in Rockport seems to close very early.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Captain Bounty. The Innkeepers were so so nice and accommodating, giving us suggestions for restaurants, hikes, and other things to do in Rockport. The rooms are nicely furnished and decorated, and although a bit dated, it is very clean and has a nice modest feel to it. We stayed on the first floor, which apparently had the least appealing beach view, but it was amazing none the less! The tide was in, so the waves were ebbing and flowing right underneath our balcony. A lot of time was spent just looking out into the Atlantic from our balcony. Rockport is such a nice walking town, and the location of Captain Bounty made it so easy for us to enjoy the downtown area. Would definitely come back, if the Lord wills!

The view from our balcony is amazing! Love the small beach area. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and tidy. Location is perfect. We've walked to all the shops and dining. Couldn't recommmend it more highly. Staff is great too!

When we arrived, the door was locked, directing guests to use the info in their text or email to access their room, or to call the phone number on the door for 24/7 service. I hadn't received check-in info via text or email. When I called the number, it went directly to voicemail twice. Fortunately, a current guest of the hotel let me follow him in, and a housekeeper was able to get me the information I needed to access our room. It was two hours and twenty minutes past check-in time when the text arrived with check-in information. When I replied it would have been nice to have the check-in info prior the check-in time, or the phone answered, the person who replied said they were doing laundry out back and did not get the call. Another couple was experience the same issue as I attempted to check-in, so I believe this was not a one-off problem. If they're not going to have a lobby and front desk, I think they really need to have someone actually answer the phone and/or reply quickly. Our King Oceanfront room was on the second floor, leading onto the deck that seats thirty. We were the only ones using the deck, fabulous for watching the sunrise. but I would not have loved looking out at thirty people using it, between us and our ocean view, during a busier time of the season. I'd recommend getting a room on the third floor for the view and to avoid hearing people above walking. On our second night, guests were in the adjacent room and it felt like they were in the room with us, we could hear their television and every word they said. The walls are thin. The bed was very firm and the pillows are large and extremely firm. We found it very uncomfortable. I was very excited to stay here; I grew up in Rockport, going to Front Beach with my grandmother, and looked forward to being at this location and checking out the new hotel. We'll try a different place next time we visit.

EWWW! I DON'T KNOW IF THEY TOOK IT UP A COUPLE NOTCHES, OR IF I JUST GOT LUCKY WITH A CLEAN ROOM. I WILL AGREE WITH ONE PICTURE THOUGH, THE INSIDE OF THE COFFEEMAKER HAD THE NORMAL RESIDUE ON IT, WHICH EVEN AT HOME GROSSES ME OUT. BUT I MYSELF WOULD NEVER USE A HOTEL ROOM COFFEE MAKER. However so many reviews state the staff is friendly ... I never saw a smile on any of them let alone any friendliness. Not a big deal. But what WAS a big deal to us was the misleading description on their website under amenities that they offer a hot breakfast. The only things that are hot are the coffees, the hot water, and the toaster. If you're thinking of the breakfasts other hotels call a hot continental breakfast ... (eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, Belgian waffle maker), don't! So besides the hot coffee, there's juice, cold cereal, instant oatmeal packets, yogurt, fruit, bagels, English muffins, and packaged danish, muffins and cookies. At least it was something considering the room was over $300. EDIT: THERE ARE ALSO TWO PICTURES OF THE BEAUTIFUL HOT AND "YUMMY" CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. FIRST, IT IS NOT THE ROCKPORT INN, AND SECONDLY IT WAS POSTED BY THE BUSINESS OWNER! TSK! TSK! And their Hotel market, with snacks, beverages, and convenience items. HaHaHa! It's a closet without a door. A cooler with soda, maybe water and juice, and several little baskets with snacks ... like grocery store family packs of tiny individual pouches that are usually labeled not for resale! I bought two tiny bags of cheez-itz and a coke for $10! They didn't get enough out of me for the room! So was it like $2.50 for each one gulper package of crackers and $5 for a can of coke? And I don't know what were considered convenience items, there were only the limited snacks and drinks ... forget toothpaste or Tylenol or any other toiletry or OTC item. When asked, they said sometimes they have things like that if people leave them behind! WHAT? We did love the little courtyard outside the pool area with all the patio furniture and fire pit ... but the pit should be right in the middle so more people can enjoy it. The first night our family of 10 just huddled in a corner because there were already 8 people around it who didn't seem to want to share. The second night we just grabbed some chairs and put them closer, saying "you don't mind if we join you, do you"? Of course we doubted they'd say no, but if the fire were in the middle, more people would be able to enjoy it. And there's plenty of room out there for those who don't want to sit near it, to have a quiet area elsewhere. Would I go back again? If I had a reason to go back to that area, I definitely would, but it's highly unlikely because this time we were there for a wedding being held at the Beaumont Hotel, 10 min. down the road, (which I understand was a DEFINITE ripoff)!Their standard king or 2 queen rooms were anywhere from $600 - $1,200! So I'm still going to rate the Rockport Inn a 4 ... I'm just subtracting the on star for the lack of friendliness and food!

Took pictures / videos of everything when I arrived and when I left because I read a review where they charged $100 for something that the occupant honestly reported as damaged. Comfort Inn standard but 2 1/2 times the price. $100 hold for 'incidentals'. There's no mini bar and 'free' breakfast, so what exactly could 'incidentals' be? It's a damage deposit. Call it what it is. Not declared before booking so I wasn't expecting it. If they don't refund it I'll be disputing it via a chargeback with my credit card. Crappy coffee in the room. $280 a night and crappy coffee along with crappy powdered 'creamer'. The 'free' breakfast is a literal carb-fest of prepackaged crap. For $280 a night I expect *some* form of protein. Almost refused me when I arrived because I didn't have a physical credit card when checking in, just a digital wallet. I had already paid for the full stay before arriving. Motel did not state during booking the need for a physical credit card on check-in which is why I didn't bring one, having already paid in full. It's a glorified motel. Doors on the street. As a single woman I would never have booked here if I had known that. I thought I was booking a proper hotel. Especially at $280 for a mid-week night. Deeply disappointed.

The sunrise, the nice environment and stroll a bit up and down the street afterwards... It's so lovely here. The room itself was nice and comfortable but still a star is missing as we had to shower in the bathtub. Normally that's not a big problem, but as we sere standing in the tub under the roof you have to lean sideways not to bump your head and there is no place to put the shower head. So have to keep it in your hands. So while your standing in the tub, holding the shower head, leaning sideways you also have to wash yourself. I think this is a big minus for everybody taller then 5 ft ;)

We decided on a last minute stay at The Emerson Inn for GF's birthday. We had originally planned on…read moregoing to Miami but because of the COVID situation in Florida, made the decision to stay in New England for a little beach getaway in Rockport instead. Because this was for a special occasion, we were initially going to BOUGIE it up at the W in South Beach so when we scrapped those plans, I still wanted to splurge on an ocean front property for our Rockport getaway and selected this place. Arrival: The place is right on the corner and easy to spot from the street. The road from the car to the entrance of the hotel is gravel and not amenable to rolling suitcases easily. Going up to the entrance requires ascending stairs. The concierge was there, after 10pm, friendly and welcoming which was a pleasant surprise for an Inn, which can have limited hours per my past experience. This property DOES NOT HAVE ELEVATORS but the staff offered numerous times to help us take our luggage to the 3rd floor but I felt that we could handle it. The room: We selected a "queen oceanside". The room is tiny. Like literally probably a few feet of space outside the bed in all directions. The bathroom is equally small, only one space to stand which happens to be in front of the sink, in front of the toilet, and to step into the shower. I've had larger rooms in Europe. The bed is very comfortable and the AC worked well. Everything was very clean. The towels were soft. The shower had top 3 best hotel water pressures I've ever experienced. You have to hold on or it'll blow you away. The water was hot. The toilet flush was weak. The tub initially drained very well but after showering for a few days, on our last day (thank god), it didn't drain at all? There was a mosquito inside our room the second we stepped into the room and I can say, having been home for about 24 hours, I am absolutely covered in mosquito bites from our stay here. Our first night, before opening any windows, GF got bitten on her face while we slept. It reminded me of the days I went to medical school in the Caribbean and slept in a mosquito net. Our second night, we opened the windows because the room was prohibitively steamy after taking a shower and the following day I noticed there are a bunch of holes in the screen. Classic. There is no fridge or microwave. The flatscreen TV on the wall worked well but no option for netflix or any streaming services. The view is absolutely stunning but there is no beach or water access. The window is only covered by a shade which doesn't do a great job of blocking out the light. It is very easy to hear doors slamming and other guests taking the stairs so if you are a light sleeper, I would recommend ear plugs. Services: There were ample towels provided. We were told at check in that there would be a card hanging on our door from which we could select to receive additional items. We requested new towels and hung the card outside the door. When we left in the afternoon, we still had not received requested towels so we asked at the desk. When we returned later that night, we still had not received the towels. Eventually, we received them about an hour or so after we returned. Amenities: There is a pool outside that overlooks the ocean. Sitting at the pool for a few hours was one of our best experiences during our trip. The pool is small and the seating limited. There is no room service. There was no maid service during the day. Location: A 40 minute walk to Bearskin Neck (the touristy shit you probably came to Rockport for) and essentially requires driving. There is really nothing within walking distance. There are extremely limited options for food delivery and literally no options for delivery after 10pm. If you're a night owl and you like to eat late, you will be hungry. Miscellaneous: There is a bar and restaurant in the lobby. You can sit on the veranda or inside at the bar. It is a gorgeous view. The drinks are expensive, similar to Manhattan prices ($17 for a drink). We ordered a few cocktails and ate at the restaurant on our last night. I ordered the risotto, and was happy to see vegetarian options on the menu, but the risotto was essentially tasteless and a waste of calories. On our last day, I woke up to three missed calls from the hotel and a voicemail stating, "nevermind, you don't have to switch your room after all". Huh? Why would I have to switch my room? I booked four nights. A staff member unfortunately WALKED IN on us while we were sleeping and was very apologetic. There is no "do not disturb" tag to leave outside the door. I will say the staff were all incredible and the best part of the stay. Ultimately, the 400-something per night we paid for this stay was outrageous and not at all worth what we received. Our W South Beach stay, ON THE BEACH with BEACH ACCESS, in a major US city, tons of amenities, was only slightly more per night, which is absolutely ridiculous.
