Another stellar meal was had at Hotel Magnolia Restaurant last night! We try to do at least one lunch and one dinner per month at this top-notch restaurant! We tried a few new things that we hadn't tried before. Myself, the Aged Hand Cut Filet Mignion (I usually go for the Ribeye) ordered Pittsburgh Medium Rare, It was cooked to perfection! It's one of the best Steaks I've ever had, and that's saying a lot! My grandson had the Snapper Orleans covered in the Shrimp & Crawfish Cream Sauce with Caesar Salad. He didn't leave a morsel. In fact, I got the last bit of sauce on my spectacular Sour Dough Bread Loaf that we shared (my first time trying this, awesome). My wife made a meal of the Crab Claw Appetizer, with a Garden Mixed Salad and side of Red Potatoes. The sides of Okra, Fries, and Green Beans were all homemade and delicious.I also treated myself to a Peanut Butter Bushwacker, and we shared two Apple/Peach Beignets for dessert. Southern Hospitality at its finest! The Hotel Magnolia is such a magical place! From the moment we walked in, Ms. Diana made us feel like we were guests in her home. She greeted us warmly with 2 free complimentary mugs from the hotel and showed us around where they have snacks in case you get hungry, teas, hot chocolate and coffee in case you get thirsty. She also gave us a tour of the cute outdoor pool area and where they have live music in the upstairs bar! She even helped us get a cart to bring our luggage to the room! Our room was charming and they have beautiful outdoor balconies and porches to relax as well. I appreciate that the hotel is non smoking but there are designated outdoor smoking areas. There is also an ice maker and communal fridge in the hallway by our room. And one of the best parts of the stay is the delicious breakfast in the morning that was included in our stay! Ms. Lula was lovely and the hot, homemade breakfast was tasty and such a great way to start our day! It was so lovely meeting the co-owners Ms. Diana and Mr. Kevin! This restaurant should not be overlooked. The menu is not overwhelming and offers a good variety of upscale coastal cuisine. The waitress/bartender/food server/bus did the best she could alone with one group of 22 and two other tables with about another 15 people. Food came out cool and some guest said theirs was cold. Adequate staffing would most likely solve this issue. The decor/atmosphere was not appealing. Walking in the building is old time southern charm, the restaurant is open and convention hall feeling. The tile floor and plain walls amplified the noise level. The decor was weird with some monkey drinking painting. Staff up, dampen the noise, and have decor to match the hotel and this would become a 5 Star place with a waitlist. read more

Despite high expectations from positive reviews, our experience at the Magnolia was a major letdown. Given the premium prices, I expected a high-quality steak, but it was tough and overcooked; even the twice-baked potatoes felt like they had been reheated from days ago. Everything fell short of what I'd read online, and I won't be returning to spend my money here again. read more

My whole family stayed this weekend and it was such a homey experience! The people were so sweet and the breakfast was great! It was almost like you were staying at your grandparents house. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and so different as well as the rooms. They had snacks and drinks with no charge, as well as a Roku tv! The only NEGATIVE I could say about this hotel was it was extremely hot in the rooms. They definitely need to fix the AC before summer comes around, it said it was set at 69 but stayed at 79 all night long! Thank God for the fan in the room because I had a hard time goin to be sleep because it was so hot! Other than that it was a great experience! To start, the food was fantastic. Unfortunately my party had the displeasure of listening to an older man (one of the owners!, Kevin we found out) just rant and rave about some of his staff. Very unprofessional. The things I heard I do not feel would be appropriate to share. He talked down and insulted the other staff with him that day, too. I am extremely dissatisfied with the way this man talks to and treats staff members. Never coming back if that's the way they treat other human beings, and I warn others to be aware of this man as well. read more

Everything. Very outdated. No tv channels. Only WiFi and the WiFi was down. Room had a sink lead that covered entire bathroom with water. No closet or anywhere to be able to hang any clothes in this very small room. read more

We enjoyed a very wonderful dinner at Hotel Magnolia a few weeks ago. My wife and I shared a filet, which was one of the best grilled and tastiest steaks we have had in years. Do this is fast becoming our new dinner place. Elegant dining- music if you eat upstairs- quiet down. Food is wonderful- if you can, try the whole flounder- you have to eat around the bones- some won't but it was delightful. Everything we've had has been good. I will admit we've seen a few hiccups- new staff, confusion, etc. Manager has always made it right. They own the Fish River Grill - so they sure can cook. Tried to have dinner here tonight. Arrived at 6:30 waited 2/12 hours for dinner, it never came. We ordered appetizers for the table, they took 40 minutes. Drinks took 20 minutes. We probably should have picked up on the fact that things were going poorly. This is a $35 a plate restaurant, never heard from management, the poor waiter finally said there was a party of 40 people upstairs ( that arrived after us) so we had to wait. We left at 8:45, dinner never arrived. They gave us a $50 gift certificate as we were leaving, that's an appetizer and drink in this place. We just happened upon this restaurant for lunch while driving around Foley. What a treat!! It was a nestled back inside a small boutique hotel. We were not dressed for white table cloths but the welcomed us in. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced for the quality of food served. Now for the food... delicious!! My husband and I found this hidden gem while traveling from Texas to Gulf Shores for vacation. So glad we did. Beautiful accommodations, very clean, staff was exceptional and made us feel very welcome. Lovely high end furnishings, marble tile, beautiful antiques all reminiscent of times gone by. Breakfasts tasty and homemade. They upgraded us without even asking. We happened to be here in the off season Labor Day and the room was available. Just minutes from Gulf Shores and everything that has to offer. Felt completely safe, on a busy street but never had any issues with noise. Parking on sight and directly in front. Beautiful location. Last morning we were even made to feel like royalty, having breakfast served right to our table as we dined alone. Great historical discussion with the hostess/owner who was a delight to talk with. Absolutely gorgeous hotel and my room was unbelievable! I stayed in the Swan Room. It had a double bed, jacuzzi with separate shower. The bed is actually 2 swans. The room had chandeliers as did the whole hotel. The owners and staff were so accommodating. The male owner got my tv where it should be and female owner made me popcorn! The breakfast was delicious- cheese egg casserole, sausage biscuits, grits, potatoes and gravy; there was fresh fruit, juices and other snacks. I felt like royalty. read more

If you have never been to The Magnolia, you do not know what you are missing. My wife, and I, were invited by a friend to go. We have lived in South Baldwin County for nearly 40 years. We had never been there. Always thought about going, just never went. We had no idea what we were missing. The food, service, and entertainment were EXCELLENT! It would take paragraphs to describe the experience. Just take our word for it. Go and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed! We did not stay in the Hotel. We went for dinner and a show. Recently we had an event in this hotel and I can honestly say this place is so beautiful it is hard to take in at one time.The staff is accommodating the rooms are elegant with a very warm family appeal. We had the privilege of staying in the Presidential Suite and it was beautiful. The room is spacious, wonderfully decorated, and the bathroom is luxurious. Even down to the hand laid tile mosaic on the floor. It has a private entrance to the room from the balcony. The entire hotel is beautiful. A turn-of-the-century gem in the middle of downtown Foley. Every room is unique. The owners are so kind and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious. We WILL be staying here again. read more

My friend and I noticed the Hotel Magnolia while passing by and decided to stop in to see the interior because of the beauty of the exterior. We were greeted by the owner who was an extremely kind and hospitable woman, she was more than willing to give us a grand tour of the entire hotel, along with a breakdown of its rich history. The Magnolia is a hidden gem that takes you back in time to the early 1900's when you step inside. Each room is unique in its own way and the service screams "southern hospitality". If you are looking for a unique and fun hotel experience that is paired with great service, I recommend stopping in to check out the Magnolia. I found this quaint hotel on a trip to Foley to visit my dad in the hospital. The rooms are so nice!!! There was a claw foot tub in our bathroom and it was decorated very nicely.
