This is by far one of the worse places to work at! The owner never communicates with his employees…read moretill hours after calling or messaging him and never gives a straight answer or doesn't answer at all. Yells at employees over doing things other employees have and continue to still do. The pay is worthless for what you are doing and have to deal with. Especially after over night raising his prices yet the employees are still only paid $10/hr when every other liquor store is paying $13/hr or more and he thinks it's okay to pay that. Which is a big reason why he can never keep anybody and why there are new people all the time. . He can never stock the stores correctly so half the stuff he has is stuff no one ever buys and the main things that sell he can never order or keep in stock. Plus he accuses his employees of doing things when there is no actual proof of anything happening just because of the way the employee is acting compared to other days or what another employee is saying. If I was anybody in Hopkinsville and the neighboring cities don't ever work for him and don't even buy from his store. When liquor king, or discount liquors or all the other places have more of a selection and the prices are way better you can expect anywhere from a $2-$10 difference in the price for how much you'll save going to other stores.

The customer service continued to be good, but not what I'd call stellar. When the new manager came on board (I can't remember her name) customer service started to suffer. She always seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. She was never friendly or personable. As someone who has hosted a lot over the years, I've dropped a sizeable amount of cash in this establishment. Just today, I bought over $100 worth of product and received attitude like I've never seen anywhere else. I had questions about a store raffle they were having but she was unable to answer any questions about the details. A manager that can't tell you how a promotion or giveaway her own store is running? That's a red flag for me. Finally she disclosed that she's not part of the giveaway, that it's her supervisor's idea. She wasn't forthcoming with a way to contact said supervisor with questions. Red flag number two. She started out our conversation like she was in a bad mood, and it slowly escalated as I tried to understand through clarifying questions how she, the manager, didn't know the details of the store's promotion. I finally gave up and left, and it will probably be a long time until I return, if at all. Over the past five years I've spent quite a lot of money hosting different events, and if she's unwilling to answer simple questions without attitude, then perhaps my dollars are better spent elsewhere. Sometimes our local Kroger may only have one checkout person! Publix, and particularly this Publix, has ample staffing. They are all very nice and attentive. They have a broad selection of not only mainstream products, but also of cool boutique and niche brands. I particularly love their selection of sparkling waters. There is also a large deli/bakery/craft foods section. I might just start making the drive to Publix!

After a few locations and I couldn't get the coordination down, I contacted Strawberry Alley and Ale Works. This is where I was linked up with Miranda. She was so informative and made great recommendations about foods that would work best together after I mentioned some of the guests preferences. Of course, chicken tenders HAD to be on there for the kiddos. We were able to discuss table layouts and presentation times of foods. Makayla and Brent were there on the event day and were so friendly and professional. I know there were many drinks ordered and they were on their game and kept all the guests "hydrated". As the day got closer, even up to the last few hours, we were able to shift on the fly and there weren't any objections. Due to the weather, they didn't object when I asked if we could arrive early and have everything done there instead in the 100+ degree heat. My step-DOGer was able to participate, but had to go home because she was too young for the festivities. We were able to add our own flare to this normally scripted reception. The venue, the food, the staff and the atmosphere added great value to our wedding event. If you are ever in Clarksville, TN and need a place to host an event, I recommend Miranda and the staff at Strawberry Alley and Ale Works, you will not be disappointed.
