WHAT?! How have I not reviewed you??!??…read more Okay, bear with me. Could the venue have more amenties? Sure. Could the ingress and throughways inside be managed better when the crowd is sardines in a can? Sure. Can every experience in life be "more" or "better" if we're being extra picky, eventually turning those same experiences into a sterile, "will never offend anyone," suburb-coded "I come into the city once in a while for a good show but I hate the parking situation" experience? Yes. But not the the TLA, no. The TLA is Philly as hell. It's not there to give you extra-wide seats or a pinky off the champagne glass kind of vibe. It's there to be affordable. It's there to connect you with all sorts of different people there to see the same great show. And it's there to remind you that sometimes, sticky sweaty is the way to go. In the TLA, we're rawdogging sweaty air and great acts. It's where you go to see the acts that come through town where everyone who shows up REALLY wanted to show up - the performers because they're not stadium famous, and the attendees because they love those same performers all up in their bones. Things might be tight in the venue, but there's always room for fun and dancing.

I was lucky to get balcony seats in row B - they were amazing! Pretty comfortable and an amazing view. There's also a bar up there so you don't have to go downstairs.

Before I start my review, here's some background if you haven't yet read any of my other reviews of psychics. In addition to being a scientific/engineering consultant, I'm a mystic, a spiritual healer and an intuitive. When I travel, I usually get readings from at least 2 or 3 local psychics -- all of them total strangers to me before the start of the reading -- in the city I am visiting. Since I'm a mystic and spiritual healer, my life is filled with Divine love and grace, and I'm happy and very much at peace. I want to stress the fact that when I make visits to local psychics during my travels, I am not seeking help with any problems, nor answers to questions, nor am I seeking spiritual guidance. Rather, I visit them and ask for a general life reading simply because God asks me to do so, and to have a fun way of connecting with other practitioners of the metaphysical arts, for I see them as metaphysical colleagues. So, when reading my reviews of psychics here, it may be VERY helpful for you to bear in mind that I did not visit them with any problems, serious questions, nor wishes in mind, nor with any "neediness". Because of this, and also because most psychics describe me as being unusually "clear" and easy to read, your own experience with the same psychic might be very different than mine. In other words, your mileage may vary (from mine)! BTW, my reviews of psychics are for their psychic readings only, and never for any additional services that they might offer, such as healings, cleansings, or spiritual guidance. I walked up the stairwell to this shop at about 11 AM in early June of 2014 and asked for a reading. The woman who met me at the upstairs doorway was a slender dark-haired woman who seemed to be in her late 40s. She told that she and her sister have been in business in this area of Philly for 30 years. I spotted the woman to whom she referred as her sister sitting on a sofa toward the rear of the large room (it was essentially a very large living room); she seemed to be somewhat heavier-set, and a bit older, than the woman who was to give me a reading. I paid for a full tarot deck reading, since that seemed to be the primary type of reading that she indicated was available (I would have preferred a palm reading as well, but she did not seem particularly interested in doing one...). I believe that the total price that I paid was about $40, or perhaps a bit less. As is always my practice when getting a reading from a psychic, this was a totally cold reading. So, I told my reader, prior to the start of the reading, only my first name, the date and place of my birth, and that I now lived in Maryland, and that I was visiting Philly for about 8 days and staying in a hotel in Center City. I told her nothing more about myself, and I did not reveal any other significant information about myself until after the reading had ended. She gave me a pretty good reading, considering the rather inexpensive price. Her reading was not bad, but the majority of the statements that she made about my life and life experiences during the reading were somewhat vague and slightly-generalized, that is, it would have been much better if they had been more specific and clear. And, at least two or three of her statements about my life were simply entirely incorrect. However, as is true of most storefront psychics whom I have seen across the US, she did report, accurately, that she could see that I was a mystic, a spiritual healer, and an intuitive/psychic. I want to note clearly that beyond one minor and not-at-all-insistent attempt toward the end of the reading to get me to pay an additional $75 for a more extensive tarot reading, she did not try any other attempts at selling me "upgrades".
