I always try to support local businesses with both my personal and professional purchasing. For the past seven years, Ink Spot has printed many meaningful items for my family -- from my wedding invitations to my children's birth announcements and birthday party invitations -- in addition to larger orders I've placed through the department where I work. Unfortunately, today that relationship ended over a $1.61 charge for envelopes. After being misquoted for a set of double-sided birthday party invitations and requesting matching envelopes, I received 14 invitations but only 7 envelopes. When I emailed to share that the envelope count seemed short, I was told not to worry and that additional envelopes would be set aside for me. When I returned to the store to pick them up, I was asked to pay $1.61 for the envelopes. I explained that I hadn't brought money because I didn't expect to need to pay for something that appeared to be part of correcting the order. The situation was reviewed, but the interaction was handled with a less-than-helpful attitude. Ultimately, I chose to walk away rather than continue the conversation over $1.61 -- because to me, it represented something larger. Over the years I have referred friends, family, and colleagues to Ink Spot, and I've valued supporting a local business. Situations like this are rarely about the dollar amount; they're about customer care and recognizing when a miscommunication has occurred. With that in mind, I'll be taking my business to HiTec moving forward, and I've shared my experience with those I've previously recommended. I contacted the Ink Spot to create a custom sign for a photo prop! It was such a simple process. I emailed them a copy of our logo, and they got back to me with a quote! It was ready within 1-2 business days. When I went to go pick it up, there was plenty of parking. They have their own lot right off of Hampton. I walked in and asked for my order. They were super busy due to the holidays- a lot of people use this spot to print their Christmas cards! My order was found and I walked out happy with the final product. It has been a hit at our events! It is fragile due to the design of the prop, but that's just the nature of it! I was referred to ink spot for my wedding programs and I am not happy with the service. The guy who took my order wrote down exactly what I wanted, but the lady who did the programs had no idea and I had to reexplain everything. The designer made countless errors that I had to fix via email, and they still weren't correct when I picked them up today. There is still a name mistake, they are way way bigger than what I wanted and what I told them, the lady who took my payment when I picked them up was rude. To top it off they were $25 dollars more (assuming I was paying for the time it took to correct THEIR grammatical errors) then what they quoted me. Amazing. This place has become nearly perfect since they moved to their new location on Hampton (there were a few mess-ups last year in the old place). Since then, they have provided amazing service, dirt-cheap pricing with quality results, and the willingness to work with someone with very specific desires. I do my own design work so I can only vouch for their printing. But they have done odd jobs, small jobs, jobs where I brought in my own paper, jobs where I needed ten copies of a dozen different folios and didn't know how to set up the print job properly, etc. etc. etc. Their color prints always look better than the ones I get at FedEx office, and they're cheaper too. I wanted to like this place so much. It's local, cute shop and close to where I live. Unfortunately I had a pretty poor experience. First when I called the lady helping me seemed knowledgeable about my printing needs and kind. Then when I came into the store a very sour faced eployee "greeted" (if you can call it that) and I showed her the envelopes I had called about and she blurted out "we can't use these" and "did you do this yourself" with a scowl mid of me explaining the phone call. Truly felt I was inconvienencing her day and rushed to get on to the next. For a local place I was surprised with the uninviting attitude and abismol customer service. The service is so good it's unreal. The technician responded to my order via email within 10 minutes, gave me a quote, and gently guided me to the service I actually required, rather than the one I foolishly thought I needed. The prints themselves were perfect, except for the errors on my end that caused some imperfections. The technician (Sarah?) shot some pro tips to optimize PSD to PDF conversion, how to scale for digital printing, and cut my posters without additonal charge. All this for a $10.00 order. You're lucky if you can buy that kind of service. I created this Yelp account JUST so I could write a review about Ink Spot. My fiancé had all of his political campaign materials done at Ink Spot and they were amazing. When we needed to have our wedding invitations made, it was a no brainer to go to Ink Spot for these, too! We worked with Jesse who was amazing. We gave him a super random and unique idea for our save the dates which he created beautifully. I then met with him to walk through all the different pieces for our invitations and he essentially read our minds and created exactly what we were hoping for. I never expected to get so many compliments on invitations but we had so many! The added bonus was that we spent less than half of what other vendors were charging. The Ink Spot was a terrible experience from beginning to end. They could not get the proofs of my wedding invitations right, even though I provided them with TWO discs of the exact digital files they needed with comprehensive instructions. They didn't seem to care that the proofs were wrong every time, and took an extremely long time to actually finish the invites. When I finally tried to pick up the finished product, they looked absolutely horrible. The edges were rough, the borders were very uneven, and the ink that I paid $100 for them to raise wasn't even raised. Not only that, it was splotchy and actually coming off. You get what you pay for, and the Ink Spot ranks highest on the list of businesses that I've encountered with the worst customer service. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM for any job, big or small. read more

I just got married and I will be posting A LOT of reviews. One of the places that I am most excited to review is The Ink Spot. I cannot say enough good things about them!!!! I ordered programs for my wedding off Etsy. They provided the file, I only needed to take it to a print shop to get it printed. I didn't know much about local print shops so I just took my file to a local Fed Ex. The people I spoke to at Fed Ex (in Fenton) where not very pleasant. I was there for well over an hour and they could barely figure out how to work with the file I provided. When they finally figured out how to get the file to print, the ink was smudged in some places, the color was off, and the paper was cheap looking. Overall my programs were embarrassing and I was sure there had to be a better option out there. I was speaking with my friend who lives on Hampton about my terrible experience, and the anxiety I was feeling because my wedding was a week away. She quickly recommended The Ink Spot. She said she always had great customer service and that her end result was always just what she wanted. All while being affordable. I went up to The Ink Spot the very next day. Within TEN minutes, the nicest girl (wish I could remember her name) had my file formatted exactly the way I wanted. She helped me pick out a nice quality paper and discussed my needs as far as quantity and price. She told me she could have them printed and cut within 15 minutes if I wanted to wait. The whole process took about half an hour and my programs were absolutely PERFECT!!!! They were only about $10 more than the price that Fed Ex quoted me but the quality was so much more superior that it's unbelievable!!!! They also wrapped them in clear plastic so they were easy to transport. I was GLOWING when I left there. When you are planning a wedding, you really appreciate great customer service.
