Lion's Head Inn and Restaurant is conveniently located by Lion's Head Beach and Harbour, 15-minute walk from one of the trailheads for Bruce Trail (leading to Lion's Head lookout viewpoints), and walking distance from many cottages and B&Bs in the area. The interior is pretty nice and cozy, with wooden-accent furniture that gives a somewhat rustic feel. They have a space extension (similar to an accessory dwelling unit) that acts as extra dining space with open windows (so it feels like you're sitting on a very covered patio with fresh air). Service was fast, but the food was just so-and-so. There were only 1-2 vegetarian items on the menu, and no vegan option (understandable, given that it's a restaurant / pub in a small cottage town). Portion size was decent. The Garden Salad was fresh and crisp. The Burrito Bowl consisted of white rice, black beans, some lettuce, shredded cheese (which you can ask to omit or have on the side), and nacho chips. It came served with salsa and sour cream on the side. It wasn't like the traditional Mexican burrito bowl you'd get at authentic Mexican restaurants, but it was okay and I was just glad to have warm food after hours of hiking in the rain and cool weather. We felt kind of rushed after eating. Right after we finished our plates, they were taken away and we were presented with the bill. This was understandable, given that they want lots of table turnaround to give room for the next customers. But when we wanted a more slowed down and relaxing sit-down experience (especially after hiking), I wished they could've let us stay and sit a bit longer without feeling rushed to get out. read more

This is our second visit to the Inn. We really enjoy the setting. It is an actual Inn which feels quaint and intimate. Seating areas are small so it never feels too loud or congested. On a nice day, the outdoor seating is lovely. Our server greeted us promptly and allowed us to select our table as the restaurant was not busy around 5:00 pm on a Thursday evening. She was so friendly and helpful with an engaging sense of humor. We decided to share two entree and it was more than filling. The dinner salad was so crisp and tasty, a perfect fall selection. It paired nicely with the Shepard pie. Enjoyed the upscale pub choices. The prices were in-line with the area and a bit more than what we tend to pay for a nice meal in our hometown in MI. Hey, it's vacation! On a busy summer evening, I can imagine that the wait would be long and the service might not be so relaxed. Thankful for so many tasty small restaurants in this quaint community. 3.5 Stars. I thought the service, albeit friendly and courteous, was a bit slow for take out and the end product was a bit lacklustre. The burgers are charcoal grilled so they are going to be a bit dry and not juicy. The fries felt a bit ordinary too. It wasn't a great meal but it did hit the craving I had for a burger. read more

Glad we found this gem after hiking. The fish and chips is superb. It taste so good. It was served very hot and crunchy. The sweet potato fries sauce is very good and Tolerable chilli. The staff were observed following the social distancing and wearing mask. We were seated in a patio outside under a tree. It feels so relaxing. Lots of parking. They don't take reservation. Usual pub fare with local ingredients. I had local white fish pan fried with broccoli and baked potato, red pepper curry soup as a starter. Soup was pleasant surprise, mildly spicy and very flavourful. I suggest serving it with nice warm bread/bun instead of packaged crackers, that would give such piquant creation what it deserves. The fish was fried to perfection with the skin nice and crispy as it should be. The broccoli was crunchy and not over-cooked. Baked potato was ruined by the foil and probably cooked ahead of time so it lost its crispy skin. Good selection of dark beer. read more

Food and garden are delightful. Problem is the manager. Our son climbed the apple tree at the garden, causing no damage and annoying no one. Manager saw fit to bawl us out across the length of the garden, pompous prick. I'm SURE it was a coincidence we were the only mixed race family in the garden. Stopped in to refuel after hiking. This place was fantastic. The waiter helped me out picking a really good beer. My buddy and I had the soup which was delicious. We shared a plate of sweet potato fries, which were cooked to perfection and the dipping sauce was out of this world. We also both ordered the buffalo burgers. Unfortunately we were informed they were out (NO!). Instead we got the Inn Burger. All in all the food, and beer were great. A good stop in the Bruce Peninsula area. read more

should you be stuck eating here, avoid confusion and just go for the pasta. We ate here with a group of 15. First off, the menu is very peculiar. Bassa fish and chips? Who doesn't use cod? Turns out bassa is imported from China!!! Then it is hard to figure out the menu sections. And should you want a salad inside of fries that is an additional charge of C$3.99. Well in my book that is a side dish order. Waitress came to take drink orders while we were trying to understand the menu. No drinks listed on the menu, no separate drink menu, we were ordering blindly. Sure we could have asked, but this waitstaff was rather curt. We feared her and she sensed we were weak and got worse when we tried to order food. One person asked whether there was curry in the sauce that came with the Indian dish. "Of course" she tartly replied " it's an Indian dish!" Ohhh are we brave enough to hazard another question? Some did. I believe them to be closet masochists. I tried to evade a confrontation with our sharp tongued waitress and ordered the Georgian Bay Whitefish that was listed seemingly complete, no need to address the substitution issue. But wait - after taking our orders she quickly came back! "The kitchen didn't tell me we were out of whitefish." Aha, deferring blame on the kichen not herself for not keeping track; it was early in the evening, we were the first dinner guests. I had the advantage now and took my time perusing the menu. I also have several food 'issues' so it is always problematic. I settled on fish and chips, and inquired about getting something other than chips. She said a substitution of salad would be an additional charge. I said that then is not a substitution. "It's the policy." But I could get mashed potatoes. Mind you the fosh and chips cost C$19.99! Did I want gravy? Yes. When I got the bill there was a $1.00 gravy charge. The person that ordered the grilled portobello mushroom with trimming got a leathery mushroom on a big bun. Bun was left on the plate and when clearing the table our ever helpful waitress told her "you could have ordered it without the bun." But would that have construed a substitution or perhaps entitled her to a refund? The beers were tasty, the food not worth the cost. But it did provide us with clever witticisms and amusement over the next days. I should have asked about the bassa fish as I would never knowingly eat Chinese fish. My stomach turned when I later discovered the ugly truth. But had I ordered anything else it might have ended up in bloody confrontation with the evil waitress. Possible she detested those silly Americans and all their food rearrangement needs or maybe she was having a bad day. The menu setup and poor food was not her fault. Go to Marydale's or get pizza. This place was pleasantly surprising! .Not much too look at from outside but very quaint inside with a very nice screened patio which was a nice alternative from sitting outside as the bee's were very bad the day we were there. Very welcoming we were greeted by a very friendly server who explained the specials of the day and very promptly brought our drinks as we looked over the menu!. My decided on the chicken special which she didn't really enjoy! .I had the lake trout which was amazing! melted in your mouth! . Server was great! 10 out of 10. Great experiences the various time we went here this trip. The option of Outdoor seating is very relaxing . We had the lamb slider appetizer which was tasty, the roast beef hot sandwich another day and prime rib sat, polished off an apple crisp as well as various beers. We had Jodi as our server 2x and she was amazing , attentive and goofed right along with us and provided great service and recommendations. I don't smoke but really appreciated the owner asking very politely for the gentleman who was smoking a little away from the back deck to move away towards the street. Thank you read more

We wanted a porch reservation and they put us inside beside the bar. It was really hot. I ordered the pan seared walleye with dill and butter. It was overcooked because, it was hard on the edges. I had mashed potatoes and it had white pepper in it and that was hot. So I asked them for french fries and that was good. I also had a garden salad and it was bitter with balsamic vingerarette. We ordered icecream and when we got it, it was half melted into a soupy mess. My husband had the whitefish with a baked potato. He said the whitefish was overcooked and the potato was good. This was supposed to be our delayed wedding anniversary dinner. I got diarrhea from eating their food and took Immodium to stop the runs. I'm not going there again. read more

This place was aweful. After a day of hiking, we stopped here and ordered a couple of the more substantial meals. 10 minutes after we ordered, the table beside us arrived. They ordered, received their meals, ate, paid their bill, left, forgot their doggy bag, returned and picked it up before we even got out meal. When the meal finally arrived, we started eating and were then told we would have to go inside because their liquor license didn't permit them to have alcohol outside that late. The food was cold and some of the worst I have ever tasted. We ate about a quarter of what was on the plate and asked to talk to the manager. He/She? never came out and waitress offered us 15% off our bill or one free desert (for the two of us). BBQ a piece of roadkill would have been better. read more
