We saw some good Yelp reviews and decided to try this fish and chips place during our trip in Tobermory. It was cold autumn month when we were here but they offered a dining area outside with heater. On the menu, they offered one piece fish and chips combo, or fish and shrimp combo, or chicken and back ribs at less than $25. They also offered all you can eat fish and chips at $28.99. We were pretty hungry so a few of us went with all you can eat fish and chips. The fries were mediocre but the fish was awesome. Each one piece of fish here was cut into two half pieces when they fried it. The fish was perfectly cooked and flavoured with very crispy breading with perfect thickness. The white fish tasted so fresh and soft. The owner was so nice to renew our fish a couple of times until we were full. The fish was fresh and tasty, but not so much on the other fried foods which were just standard to me. Calamari was kind of rubbery, while the Southern corn was delicious. The jerk chicken was dry. For fish and chips, I honestly think 1 piece is enough per person and I'm not sure who would actually order AYCE. My recommendation for them is to diversify their menu. I took the family the location on Hwy 6 because they have a great option for non fish lover (chicken shawarma bowl) but went to they Bay location as they are out of fish. We came here as part of bus tour group. Our organizers had asked us to choose between the Fish or Chicken with Fries options for our lunch (along with a pop). Both my wife and I opted for the Fish. Our whole party was seated on the patio which had a pleasant ambience with a nice view of the lake. The service was fast and most of the servers were pleasant enough. There were two servers dressed like pirates who were particularly nice and friendly. Our meals came with little packages of Tarter Sauce and Rancher's Choice Vinaigrette. Although there is salt, pepper, vinegar, and ketchup if you need them, I wish they also had lemon to go with the fried fish. I found the single portions of Fried Fish pretty decent sized and filling. The fish was fried to perfection and the insides were light, flakey, and moist. The fries were pretty good too. If you're ever in Tobermory you have to check out this place! We finished a boat tour and decided to grab some lunch from a local spot. We walked over to this place and it was jam packed with people waiting for a table and take out. We waited only 30 minutes for a table but definitely worth it. We sat down and our server quickly came over and introduced himself. He was super friendly and went over the menu with us. He explained that whitefish was their specialty. I'll admit .. I was hesitant at first because I've never tried it so we decided to order one of the whitefish with shrimp and a halibut fish and chips. Lee's gets a four star given tasty fish and chips and limited options in the area. The food tasted pretty good - or maybe I was just hungry after a long swim in the frigid Georgian Bay. Only complaints were the tar tar sauce wasn't homemade and the fish was slightly over fried. Serving size was a bit small, so the all-you-can-eat option is a no-brainer if you plan to have more than 2 pieces. Note: each piece is HALF of the typical filet. The service is hit or miss but generally acceptable. On my most recent visit I was overcharged $10 but I didn't notice until we left, so make sure to double check your bill! Shipwreck Lee's was one of the higher rated restaurants so I decided to try it out. We noticed that there were two locations, and decided to try the one on the harbour front. This location offered all-you-can-eat for their whitefish fish and chips for 18.95, but as we weren't too hungry, we opted for ordering single dishes instead. My partner ordered the halibut with chips, and I ordered the whitefish with shrimp and chips. The halibut was tasty, but nothing special. It had a nice meaty texture and was nicely cooked. It could have been a little more seasoned in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The chips on the other hand were quite disappointing. They looked and tasted like the McCain frozen french fries. They lacked any salt at all, and when we asked for vinegar they did not end up bringing any. Moving on to my dish, I really enjoyed the shrimp. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and crispy from the panko breading. The shrimps came with a packaged dip of "Olde style seafood sauce" which turned out to be cocktail sauce. It was nice and refreshing with a slight kick of horseradish. The whitefish was quite tasty as well. The batter was light and crisp, and the fish was juicy and soft. The fries on the other hand was the same frozen fries that were under seasoned. The tartar sauce that was provided was also prepackaged tartar sauce. Nothing special, and I wished it had more flavour. It was actually pretty disappointing for being a well rayed fish and chips place. The service on the other hand was amazing. Staff was attentive and friendly and really boosted the experience. Overall it was a nice establishment to visit once, but probably would not recommend friends nor would I go out of my way to return. Not a single thing on the table was reusable and was all single use. The fish and chips was made from frozen which isn't acceptable when next to a huge body of water that's famous for fish. Menus were on thin paper and the umbrella at our table almost flew up and hit us several times. On top of this we waited around 20 minutes to even be greeted / seated. Tobermory doesn't exactly have an exciting food scene. So considering that, Shipwreck Lee's is decent. But as it was our first night in town we expected a bit more and it didn't quite deliver. First, be aware there are two locations. We went to the newer one across from the ferry to Manitoulin Island. They have a good size patio with some views. No wait time compared to the original location which gets more people because it right by the harbour. We were told the menu is similar expect this one doesn't have all-you-can-eat fish and chips. The fish itself was fairly good. But the fries were lackluster. Tartar sauce was in little packets and not particularly flavourful. Not sure if it's due to COVID, but everything was disposable. It was rather difficult to cut and eat my fish with a plastic fork and knife over the fries. Service was okay. We had some difficulty getting a hold of our server even though it was pretty slow. Crispy on the outside and piping hot, but a bit greasy and maybe still a tad undercooked/firm in the center. Found this little gem through Trip Advisor. It was a perfect stop after exploring Flowerpot Island. You can find it by the blaring music coming out of the speakers. Not sure what kind of music they were playing but it was nice. We walked towards the patio and seated ourselves. Servers were dressed in pirate themed attire. Our server Dane was very friendly. He served us our menus and answered any questions we had regarding the food and menu. We ordered the Haddock and White fish with two sides of coleslaw. The restaurant is completely outdoors with picnic table-style seating. The mood is very relaxed with tropical/beach type music playing. Our server was awesome! My boyfriend and I both ordered the Fish and Shrimp which was $18.95 each. They also have all you can eat white fish for $18.95. Our meals were well portioned and delicious.
