This is the worst experience I have ever had at any clinic/ medical office. I was seen by Dr. Jarmakani and while she was pleasant during the visit, trying to coordinate care has been far from pleasant. Not only does she not reply to her messages, but she will have her nurses or medical assistants reply, and when they do they don't answer the question, give you incorrect/conflicting information, or completely disregard you. I am not sure if their patient load is too high or if they just genuinely don't care about their patients, but anyone seeking good quality care should absolutely go somewhere else. You will not feel heard or understood but they will be quick to bill you or remind you how much you owe. Dr. Jarmakani prescribed me the same medication I reported experiencing side effects on and then when I asked why I was being put on the same medication , she wanted to charge me for an e-visit. I replied via message that I did not want an e-visit after everything and the nurse replied to that asking what time I would be available. They then scheduled an appointment on my behalf-without my permission. It is obvious they do not read the messages and want you to come in so they can bill you for asking a simple question. I truly believe the providers here are money hungry, interested only in making more money for themselves and the company rather than improving patients well being. Overall, the worst experience, will never be returning to this clinic, and if I hear anyone else talking about this place I will suggest them to go elsewhere. read more

After completing an in home sleep test ordered by my primary Doctor, I was referred to Iowa Clinic pulmonary in Ankeny. Iowa Clinic ordered a second more extensive in home sleep study. Both tests revealed I had sleep apnea. Iowa Clinic ordered me to do an in lab sleep study. Would not fill CPAP rx without it. My primary did not support need for in-lab. After pre-authorization I was told my out of pocket would be $156. I attempted the study but could not sleep. Subsequently insurance denied claim, reason was the study was not necessary. Stating an automatic machine could have been used. Iowa Clinic then filled the rx for the CPAP. I received a bill from Iowa Clinic for the failed sleep study for $2100.00. I tried to get an answer from IC as to why the sleep study was necessary and why a failed study would cost $2100.00. The only answer I received was they did everything they could with the insurance co. and I owed the money. I appealed the denial and it upheld it was unnecessary. I requested a third party review through the state and again, ruled unnecessary. I will never step foot in an Iowa Clinic again. I have changed to a different provider to monitor my sleep apnea. read more

Can no longer recommend Ankeny Iowa Clinic. I moved to Iowa 2 years ago. I had a provider to establish with for approx. 8 months, and was introduced to a new provider. She was amazing, they both were. She listened, cared, was empathetic, and advocated for me when I was denied an echo by insurance, to find that I was 80% blocked and needed heart surgery. Why do providers not stay? It can't all be them. I will choose another clinic and a more reliable organization. read more

This is a review for all of the Iowa Clinics we have vistied in the past 6 months. Ankeny, Altoona, West Des Moines and Waukee. They scheduling staff are rude. Calling any of the numbers to talk to an office or schedule an appointment is ridiculous. None of the doctors communicate with one another regarding test results, diagnoses, treatment plans. They seem to push unnecessary and/or duplicate labs and tests to bill your insurance company. The only one we have had a good experience with is the clinic in Altoona. I now know why our health insurance premiums continue to increase. Instead of addressing and treating issues directly they pass you from one specialist to another. I really hoped that this would be better than Mercy or Unity Point and unfortunately they are actually worse. It's too bad since they are physician owned and you would think that would be a place that cared about patients versus money. read more

Despite some of the ratings that state otherwise, the departments at this location are very efficient based on my experience in the Medical Imaging Department. I can give nothing but rave reviews for this Department due to each tech taking the time to do their very best in handling my situation even asking questions to make sure they meet my needs. Take it from me, when you have to have an IV placed not in your arm, but your hand it takes an experienced tech and the Ankeny Campus had those individuals. Today was no exception. Medical Imaging did an outstanding job in tapping into a good vein for my procedural IV on the first try, and I thank them because being poked more than twice truly hurts. If you are looking for top notch professionals who seem to have a caring spirit-- this is the place. Again, thank you CareyAnn [sic] for a job well done! read more

I have had multiple lab experiences with the WDM and now Ankeny Iowa Clinic labs. since I use Iowa Clinic Doctors I am stuck using these services. The last 3 times I have had to take specimens to these labs they have not included correct instruction sheets , marked on the bottles or marked the specimen bags correctly. Therefore when I return specimens I get denigrated for NOT properly handling the specimens and threatened with rejection. I happen to be a Medical Technologist so I know how to follow their instructions to the letter. When I have had concerns and questions there is NO contacts for any of their labs and can NEVER get clarification before it goes badly for me and ultimately MY HEALTHCARE OUTCOME. read more

Kristin Witzenburg practices at the Iowa Clinic Urgent Care in Ankeny. By chance, I have seen her twice for medical concerns with my child. The first time, she seemed disinterested in the severe symptoms my child was presenting with. She sent us home. After dismissing us from the clinic, she called and said I should actually go to the ER. I assume she consulted with someone more knowledgeable to suddenly be concerned about the symptoms and go from telling me that I should push fluids as she may be dehydrated to suddenly recommended emergency room care. My child was in the hospital for 8 days with a very severe diagnosis. Several months later, without realizing it was the same provider at first, I sought medical attention for my child for a different reason and was again dismayed at the provider's lack of interest, sensitively and thoroughness. Only later did I connect it was the same provider. In this second visit, I was told that there was no medical reason for the medical symptom and was told that a sexual assault nurse examiner would need to be seen, implying the reason for the symptom was due to sexual abuse/assault. I was sent to the ER and incurred additional medical bills alongside the trauma of being referred to such a professional and the violation of needless and countless exams on my child, only to find out there was a very clear and simple medical reason for the symptom. A reason Kristin Witzenburg was unable to identify - just as she was unable to see in the initial visit in October that my child needed urgent medical attention. Most concerning, however, is the fact that Kristin Witzenburg has been dishonest in her account of that 2nd visit to urgent care. She claims that I asked about abuse and initiated the need for a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner). She went so far as to suggest that I asked how to report the childcare facility for abuse. At the point that was relayed to me is when I knew she was not just incorrect in her recollection but was actually being intentionally dishonest as that is so far from the truth of what occurred. I encourage any other parent to avoid care from this provider, and to even seek out a different urgent care in Ankeny if that is what has you end up seeing Kristin Witzenburg. Sadly, I believe this matter could have been handled in a way that provided training and development for this provider but instead the clinic has taken the route of believing the inaccurate statements of the provider to ensure they are not financially responsible for the additional costs I incurred. read more

Nice newer medical facility that offers multiple options. On the lower level they have a walk in clinic, family practice, internal medicine, laboratory, and imaging. This facility is part of the Iowa Clinic network and connects with the other locations. The amenities and patient rooms inside are all nice and top notch. read more

Waited for someone to show up at front desk. Have to check in with her AND use their very annoying computer pads to click through a bunch of info that would be a simple question from the human checking you in - has your contact or insurance info changed? But no, they put it on the patient to waste their time clicking through 15 questions on a slow computer device. Then, the receptionist starts to ask me a bunch of questions about my bill, which is super embarrassing and makes me feel like some kind of criminal. I say I haven't received a bill and she looks and is like ok you will soon. Just rude and annoying. I'm not at the doctor to do my book work, I'm there to see a doctor. read more
