About 1/2 the park appears to be full timers and everyone we met was friendly. Showers are clean and well lit, as is the laundry ($2.25). Very little road noise. The view is spectacular! Lots of good places to eat just a few minutes away (Sweet Wife bakery and Inland Cafe were both worth returning to). There's a nice big Albertsons grocery and a big Ace Hardware. Great little town!

This particular rest stop in Baker Valley has a gorgeous view of the valley just before the start of the Blue Mountains. Much of it is still rural farmland, you can't help but look out and think about the pioneers that passed through and eventually settled this land. Amazing! I also like that Oregon has put in mini museums or interpretive stands at many of the rest stops. The one here has pictures and stories about the pioneers that came west on the Oregon Trail wagon trains. Very interesting to read and learn more about the area. Amenities wise: this rest stop has all the standard things you'd expect: bathrooms, water, vending machines with snacks, picnic tables, etc. We've stopped here several times over the years and generally find everything clean and in good working order.

This is a great campground on the northern edge of Phillips Lke between Baker City and Sumpter…read more Surrounded by ponderosa pines, the campsites are spacious and farher apart than in many campgrounds. Individual sites include water and electricity and there are also tent-only and group sites.. From Boise, it's about the same distance as going to McCall, but the drive along the freeway is much easier. The campground is also available for day use; many picnic tables are spread out between campsites and the lake. A paved trail circles the lake for walkers and bikers. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to a return visit.

From the sets of double doors at the entry you walk right into the modest concession stand and the smells of fresh popcorn. To the right is a little area where you can buy your tickets if you don't want to buy them with your popcorn. To the left is a very old film projector that I wish I had brought my camera to snap a few shots of. I love popcorn (hate it getting stuck in my teeth, but it's worth it) so I bought a medium that turned out to be way too much and a small soda . . .that also went about half unfinished. I really like it when I ask for "light butter" and the person behind the stand fills the bag half full, puts a little butter on, then fills it the rest of the way and puts a little more on. They did that here, so I am a fan right from the start. My friend arrived shortly after I had bought my snacks so I told her I'd go get us seats while she got her own set of munchies. I made my way the short distance to the Theater 1 the "large" screen room, there are two other small screens making a total three for the whole theater. There were only a handful of other movie goers for that particular showing, but they had grabbed my favorite seats already. I settled for a slightly off center lower middle pair and sat down. The seats themselves aren't what I was used to back in the big cities, small, not as fancy, and not nearly as comfortable. But, they are what they are, and at least we have a theater. The screen room itself was alright, the sound and picture quality were average. It was a little odd to hear the big old heaters clunk to life during "I dreamed a dream" or when Javert jumped into the aqueduct. Slightly diminished the drama. It did, however, keep the 16 degree snowy night a distant memory. I'm glad the Eltrym is around and hopefully some more good movies will come to town.

This has got to be the worst hotel in town! At first glance, the room looks nice..its been freshly…read morepainted and it's clean. The details are where it all went downhill. The front door doesn't fit in the door casing. You can see light around the moulding when the door is closed. The bathroom door wouldn't close. The was no place to hang a towel when showering. The toilet is placed so close to the wall, you bump into it when sitting on it. Beware of the trains running all night. The track is directly across the street! I wouldn't stay here again even if it was the last place in town.
