It's the kind of stop where you can actually resupply without driving into town. The hot tub was clean, well-maintained, and properly warm. Bathrooms had hot showers with solid water pressure, which is never guaranteed at an RV park and always appreciated after a long day on the road. We were passing through on a road trip and stayed one night in our rooftop tent. For a single-night stop, this place delivered everything you'd want. Clean facilities, good amenities, and staff that make you feel like a guest rather than a transaction. Would stop here again without hesitation.

This is a great campground on the northern edge of Phillips Lke between Baker City and Sumpter…read more Surrounded by ponderosa pines, the campsites are spacious and farher apart than in many campgrounds. Individual sites include water and electricity and there are also tent-only and group sites.. From Boise, it's about the same distance as going to McCall, but the drive along the freeway is much easier. The campground is also available for day use; many picnic tables are spread out between campsites and the lake. A paved trail circles the lake for walkers and bikers. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to a return visit.

This place is both peaceful and fun. Enjoy some reading time on the ample patio. Walk wherever you need to go or job the local trail along the Powder River as I did. This was a great alternative to hotel living while I worked a couple of weeks in the area. Terry and Jeanne were flexible on my timing and the rate and were fantastic to work with. I moved my coworker into the Upper Suite within days as all my coworkers were super jealous.

Part of our group stayed here, others in a hotel and others at the Gold Rush RV. We decided to meet at Whistle Stop since it was the closest to the trails we were heading out on. As soon as we came through the gate (6 machines) the owner came walking across the parking lot and said if we weren't staying there we couldn't meet there. So by that statement I'm guessing that if you stay there you are not allowed any guests. There was one other guest in the whole park. It was all of our first time in the area, and we love the area and plan on coming back next year. And there is not a tree in the whole place. No shade. None of us will be staying at Whistle Stop.

It looked like a construction site. There was minimal shade coverage, piles of gravel and dirt, and it felt like a vehicle maintenance lot. There was nothing about the place that captured the beauty of the surrounding area, and Sumpter is lovely. We had paid, but just left without asking for a refund. We were trained on how to saddle them, weigh bags, and put them on the llamas so as to not overburden them. Those llamas were amazing! Tristan was the definite hummer of the group!! We had a great time backpacking with them to Pine lakes! I want to utilize this great resource again!! It was a very unique and amazing experience!
