Without making a good faith effort to collect bills from their clients, they wait until the right time and then, with their attorneys, sue their clients. All of our bills were paid, and somehow, a balance of $161 was left. We were sued for it, and when we asked their attorney, he charged us $327.82, which included 18% interest, attorney fees, court fees, and a credit card processing fee. After looking at other reviews, it seems they intentionally target minority and immigrant communities, thinking that such individuals might not have the means to fight the lawsuit and will be frightened enough to pay whatever this business decides to charge them. We highly advise you not to do business with such an unethical entity. Thank you. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about the team at Jackson Clinic in Merrifield. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my hip and referred for physical therapy. I googled around a bit and selected Jackson Clinic. Emily was my physical therapist and I worked with exercise specialists Jimena, Olga and Candy. After a thorough assessment, I went for therapy twice a week and was given exercises to do at home. After four months, my hip pain was significantly abated. Emily always had time for questions and provided so many helpful suggestions. Jimena, Olga and Candy encouraged and supported me along the way. SUCH a great facility, I highly recommend!! read more

The main distinguishing feature at Jackson Clinics is that they pair you with a physical therapist for ~25 minutes to massage your injured joint/limb, and once your joint/limb is loosened/relaxed, you're paired with a sports therapist for 30-60 minutes of working that joint/limb out. This is in contrast to most PT facilities which assign you to a therapist (shared with others) for 45 minutes of exercise (and no one-on-one massage time). You do share your sports therapist for 2-3 other people, but in my experience, this hasn't been a problem because you're usually occupied for a few minutes performing each exercise before returning to the sports therapist for a new exercise. Prices depend on your insurance, but for me (with 90% of the negotiated rate covered), I paid about $12 a session. It is a little frustrating that the price varies each session, depending on whether they've educated you or not, and how long you spent with the sports therapist, but the price does work out close to their initial estimate. Their administrative aspects are excellent. Hours accommodate people with jobs in DC (opening at 7AM), and they're open until 7PM Monday through Thursday. You get an email notification 24 hours before your appointment, and the staff (especially Jonathan) is on top of things. When my PT prescription was close to running out, they called my doctor for me to get a new prescription without even bothering me with this administrative issue. Also, the first day you show up, they provide a sheet with an estimate of how much you'll pay each session (which has been pretty accurate for me). I had a good experience at the Jackson Clinic in Merrifield, but one thing that might matter to others is that the staff seems to be on the younger side - you won't see anyone with grey hair here. I didn't feel like I lost out on anything, but figured I'd mention that in case you're one of those people who wants to work with someone that has decades of experience. read more

STAY AWAY!! I never experienced harassment from a provider before, where they hired an attorney against me. I was in a car accident (as the injured party) and was told I had a zero balance on my account prior to leaving, and was given the approval to submit everything for reimbursement to the other insurance. I spent time with the front desk going over every parking fee, every bill ever issued to make sure I had what I needed. I since then moved from my old apartment where bills where coming in without knowing, they then hired an attorney against me once it was brought to my attention from family members a fwding address wasn't set up. I tried calling Jackson Clinic a handful of times and no one was willing to talk to me, and the attorney continued to send me calls and handful of letters within a weeks time. I had to pay my bill out of pocket, along w/ Jacksons Clinics attorney fees which is ABSURD. My bill they expect me to pay is $750 including $200ish attorney fees. My bills were all being reimbursed as the injured party and had no issue getting the bill taken care of if I received a vmail of the situation and possible next steps. I was COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED by all of this. They def do not treat you as the customer is right. They're money hungry, rude, and unreasonable. Stay away if you can, find more respect going elsewhere for care for a company that understands and supports. read more

GRADE: F - (based on their cancellation policy) Long story short, I started PT following surgery. People raved about The Jackson Clinic and their knowledgeable kind staff. But did it live up to the hype? Depends how you look at it. While MOST of the staff was indeed nice-- I experienced a few "displeasing" incidents. Like the time their male receptionist called me, as I was on my way to the office, to inform me that I was 15 minutes late-- with a cold tone in his voice, might I add. But in actuality, and I had a printout, my appointment was 15 minutes later than he proposed. He knew he had messed up because when I arrived he apologized after seeing the printout and quote on quote said "now I feel like a complete (insert the A word here)." Either way, was that a way to speak to a patient? No sir, it was NOT. But the biggest issue I have-- considering I've worked in many doctor offices before -- is the lack of understanding their cancellation policy takes into consideration. Or should I say the Office Manager? I work for a media outlet and my schedule has required me to adjust my appointments super last minute. That's just how the media world works-- we can't control breaking news! But their "Office Manager" does NOT take that into consideration, despite my constant communication with the team. Instead, they're quick to slap that "No Show Fee" because forget your problems, they don't have worries since you're still paying them via NSF. As if I already don't have other bills to pay post-surgery. Yes guys, make MY life easier by throwing in MORE worries. Nothing say's "I care about your health" more than a doctor's bill does. If you're looking to make an appointment here, GOD FORBID you have a last minute emergency at work/home because you WILL be reprimanded for basically having a life. Like I said, I've worked in many doctor offices before and I'm happy to say ALL the locations I worked at ALWAYS found some way to work with billing and their patients-- unlike the Jackson Clinic. read more

I sprained my ankle twice while hiking down a mountain summit at night in the middle of March 21. It wasn't until 4 months later that I started physical therapy and was recommended to Jackson Clinics in Fairfax. Logan and Bryan worked with me for 3 month to strengthen my ankle with various exercises. I noticed an improvement after working with them for the given amount of time and am much more comfortable moving around now when I'm outdoors, compared to when I first started PT with limited mobility. They're fantastic! Logan is very perceptive and is patient with working with your injury while listening to any concerns related. Definitely recommend her. Bryan is wonderful - he's able to guide you through exercise routines ensuring that you're doing them properly. Ask for them if you ever visit. You will not be disappointed. read more

My son went to the Jackson Clinic for 7 months twice a week following a surgery where his femur was rebroken and a rod was placed into it for growth. He was on crutches non weight bearing for 4 months. Emily, Bryan and the whole team kept his muscles engaged and moving with as many exercises as he could do. It was amazing to see his muscles turn on and work. Post PT my son is playing basketball, running and ice skating with no issues. I will forever be grateful to the kindness and professionalism in getting my son back in his feet. read more

Went there with full 50% tear of rotator cuff to try to avoid surgery. My two primary therapists were Conor & Adam, and both were great. They worked in tandem to get the most out of each session. Doctor decided that after about 12 sessions PT should take a back seat to exercising at home (& using a couple machines at the gym) since my range of motion had improved significantly. Not sure how that will play out in the future, but I would not hesitate to return if needed. And a shout out to POTUS the therapy dog. read more

I worked with Kris after having shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum that I dislocated playing basketball. Kris is an expert when it comes to shoulder injuries. Not only did he come up with a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate my shoulder without re injuring it, he also spent a lot of time going through what I should be doing at home. Kris was always re-evaluating my treatment and treated the other muscles in my back that were not "firing" properly after my surgery. The Jackson Clinics are set up as a team format. You spend half an hour 1 on 1 with your therapist and then half an hour with Jonah (or one of the other assistants). Jonah was also very helpful and knowledgeable and the system worked extremely well for my injury. I would recommend Kris and Jonah to family and friends. read more

Lucky to have been turned on to the best PT clinic out there -- it changed my life, in a big way. TJC's staff is extremely knowledgable, from top to bottom. They're patient, understanding and will work with you, no matter what's going on. And, most importantly, they get results. I was lucky to get paired with Erin -- who knows every joint/ligament/muscle from head to toe, and helped work on other issues not related to the one I had initially come in for. Her form showing me all the exercises was perfect, and she was also great getting out tension/finding my trigger points. She's a pro. The front desk staff is also amazing as well, courteous, kind and understanding. TJC asks for your goals before you even begin appointments, just so they can create a plan that helps accomplish them. My goals changed, as I realized I had some fascia issues in other areas I was not aware of, and they were happy to help me rehab/recover from them. I now feel stronger/more stable/more balanced than I've felt in years. Some of the tips from TJC will help me in my daily life, as I'll remember to "engage my core" and "activate my glutes" no matter the occasion, haha. I'm lucky to have been recommended to them, and if anything else ever pops up, rest assured I'll be going back. Wouldn't even look anywhere else. They're the best. read more

I started going to the Jackson Clinic (Old Town)in July of last year! I fractured my knee cap at the beginning of summer! Bummer right!? This is my first major injury and I had no idea about orthopedists, dealing with insurance, who is the best physical therapist etc etc... I just went to the closest place I could find near my office which happened to be the Jackson Clinic in Old Town. I spoke to Nina and Marlon about getting set up for therapy sessions-not as easy as just making an appointment. I had to get the referrals from the ortho and primary care before I could start which is a daunting task when dealing with insurance and getting right scripts...etc etc. Well, Nina and Marlin explained what I needed to do, how get it all facilitated quickly so I could start my sessions. I was paired with Kristen and Hillary!! LOVE YOU GIRLS!!! But even when they were not available, I had sessions with practically the entire OT clinic. Amanda and Donnie are pretty awesome too! Although, I think Donnie must think I am nuts! I talk too much! Hey, I figured if I am coming twice a week for torture (not really) I would have to make it fun! Yes, it can be fun. That aside, they are highly professional, trained and caring! I would see people I know, I would recommend people who needed PT and I will be coming back to see them .... read more

I am not an athlete like the person below, so maybe my experience is just different, but I would recommend this place if you need general physical therapy. I fractured my ankle while running and was nagged into going to physical therapy by my doctor. My therapist, Kris, did a very thorough evaluation on me during my first appointment. Not only was he concerned with strengthening my ankle after having been in a cast for 6 weeks, he wanted to diagnose the cause of the fracture and make sure it didn't happen again. According to him, my fracture was in a very strange place so he was determined to figure out what exactly caused it. I've been going 2x a week for about 4-5 weeks, and Kris is focusing on strengthening/stabilizing everything that could lead to an ankle injury - this means exercises for my lower back, hips, and butt. I appreciate that he didn't just fix the most obvious problem and has worked hard to make sure I don't keep re-injuring myself because of other instability or misalignment. I do get passed off to other people, sometimes another therapist, sometimes an assistant, but everyone is perfectly capable and nice and it's not like Kris disappears -- he checks in and makes sure everything is going well. On a side note, their reception staff is also very nice. Karla (I think) not only remembers your name but also when your appointments are, and they send out helpful email reminders beforehand. It's an extra bonus. Maybe this place isn't the best for intense athletic rehab (I have no way of knowing) but for issues such as mine, I would absolutely recommend it. read more

I had a bad experience with Jackson Clinic before even starting. Two month ago, I had an accident that caused injuries in my neck , shoulder and back. I have been going to another physical therapists around Alexandria. However, When I got back to work, I have decided to switch and start my physical therapy in Jackson clinic in Merriefield office because it is closer from work and because one of my colleagues recommended them to me. Before closing my case with my previous physical therapy center and move all my information to Jackson clinic, I have made a call to check if they can accommodate for physical therapy between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. I explained well to someone called Jonathan there, that I will be starting with them because it will be more convenient to me if they can accommodate me during the lunch hour times with a therapist because i don't want to disrupt my work schedule. He said sure then he scheduled me for a session there at 12:30 on 05/12/15. And of course I had to make calls to get a new prescriptions from my doctors and to my previous physical therapist to fax all the info, etc. I have called Jonathan at Jackson clinic on Wednesday to schedule more sessions, then he said we can't accommodate you from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m Being unclear with me just to bring business without considering my need to be treated as a patient in the first place hurt me in many ways: 1-One of the staff members at Jackson clinic has wasted my time as I mentioned( I had to make calls everywhere to be able to get treated at Jackson clinic) 2- He has also delayed my treatment for one week as I neither could continue with them nor I could continue with my previous therapist because they have closed my case. Today, I called my previous therapist to reopen my case , so I can resume my treatment again at least as I am having really bad pain. read more

My experience at couldn't be more different from Holly M.'s. I'm not an "athlete" but I'm a very active person - I typically walk 2-3 miles 4 times a week, I go country-western dancing weekly (two-three hours on the dance floor), garden, play tennis and otherwise keep busy. I'm in my forties and have had a problem with my right leg for twenty plus years. As such I've been in and out of numerous other physical therapy centers. When I was referred to Kris it was to be fitted with orthotics. First he put me through the most thorough examination I've ever had of my lower torso. He measured range of motion, position and other things. I learned more about myself during these sessions than I had ever learned before. At each session Kris evaluated my progress, worked with me on issues that occurred between sessions and discuss further treatment. My sessions with Kris were never less than 30 minutes and often 45 minutes. Then he turned me over to a trainer with whom he'd gone over my exercise plan in great detail (in front of me). Most importantly, he never really stopped watching me. As I would be doing something all of a sudden Kris would be there pointing out some issue. Kris did a phenomenal job fitting me for orthotics. In fact, since I wear cowboy boots most of the time - he had me bring pairs in and we chose one to send to the facility that made the devices so they would fit my boots well. Two months since my last visit, I'm in great shape. My legs don't hurt, cramp or cause me any issues. For the first time in a long time, I 'spring' out of bed in the morning without pain, can go up and down stairs without a hot bath and warm up stretches, I've started back walking (and pushing a lawn mower around an acre plus of grass) and am going two stepping for the first time in six months this Saturday night. Folks go in for pt so why is it so difficult to access---still waiting for an automatic door! I am in a motorized scooter and have to wedge open the door to make it in the building! After spending a year chasing down why I had sciatica, my physical therapist, Erin, figured it out at my first visit! After watching me walk, and having me do other movements, she determined that one leg is slightly shorter than the other (and gave me a shoe lift at my first visit!). She told me that my piriformis muscle was trying to correct the problem, and was pinching my sciatic nerve. In the year prior to seeing her, I had been to an orthopedic doctor and to a neurosurgeon, had hip X-rays and a lumbar MRI. No one could tell me what was really going on. I was having difficulty walking, doing activities of daily living, rolling over in bed, etc. Erin, and the staff at Merrifield, changed my life and I am pain free and doing well! Two of my children have been seen at The Jackson Clinic, Fairfax. My son sees Stephen and Tricia for post-op foot rehab and I am so happy with the work that they do with him. He is challenged and improves after every visit. My daughter sees Erin for her wrist and shoulder. Erin's sports experience is a perfect fit for my daughter's needs. I've had good physical therapy and bad physical therapy, but this was the first time I had great physical therapy. Lauren G. was my doctor and Adam G. my physical trainer, but I'm certain I would have received outstanding care from any of the staff there because they all work like a well functioning team. I went there twice a week for six weeks, and in that time I could see the way all the doctors and trainers communicated and interacted with each other. For any patient there, both professionals were on the same page week to week, consulting back and forth with their observations. So patients got exactly the right kinds of attention, training, correction and encouragement. For me, the results speak for themselves. After a delicate surgery to set right a problem that had been ongoing for 2+ years, one month of rest and two months of outstanding PT have me feeling better than I have in years, plus I'm developing better physical habits. I have a clear exercise program going forward and I'm moving steadily towards long term goals of better posture, strength and mobility. I could not ask for a better PT experience. read more

I have been to other physical therapy clinics in the past, and the Jackson Clinics (Merrifield) stands out among all. The staff is professional, caring and friendly. Stephen has been the PT in charge of my rehab from knee surgery. The plan he created after a thorough assessment has shown great results. He also listens to you and adapts if indicated. I have also been treated by Tanya and Melanie and couldn't be more pleased with them as well. Everyone seems to work so well as part of a team effort. The facility is spotless and reminder calls and emails helpful as well. I really can't exaggerate my positive opinion of this facility. read more

I arrived at the clinic with a frozen right shoulder and considerable pain. Steven, Tanya, Brittany, Jonathan, & Yvette slowly but steadily returned the use of my shoulder/arm to me.It took 6 weeks, but was worth every visit. It is indeed a pleasure to write this review. I came to the Jackson Clinic in (Merrifield) Fairfax Va in early January 2016 in the worse pain I had ever experienced. I had been through the December to remember after a failed epidural, pain meds, nerve meds and an emergency ward visit after I could not bear the pain anymore. Oh how happy I am that I found this clinic and Melanie Elan. I have spinal stenosis and spondylises and thought that I was destined for the surgeons table but asked my doctor for one more try with PT. I had been to PT before at another location and came with some reservations about how successful this would be. I can truly say that today I am walking again and pain free and I attribute this remarkable turn around to the professional and caring work of Melanie Elan. I sing her praises wherever I go. Melanie is a true professional, educated , skilled and compassionate. What I most appreciated about Melanie was not just the hands on work she did but her skill in educating me about the connection between the parts of my body and how they interact in concert. The core work, the strength work the massage all helped to bring me to this pain free moment in time. In addition I would like to give a shout out to Tania Nicios who is the athletic coordinator at the clinic who got me started on exercises that I continue to do at home to strengthen by back. She shared her personal experience with her own back issues and it was helpful to know that i could recover. The administrative staff is super also, very efficient in getting appointments set up and also just super friendly.
