The townhomes are beautiful and have 3 levels. I see they've made some improvements- probably based on families. The stairs are steep, so with two kids running around, it can be nerve wrecking. I saw they added nice child gates to the top of their sets of stairs. In the townhomes, you have 3 levels and 2 patios: one patio on the second floor (living area with a half bath) with an egg chair and table setting. The third level is the bed space and that patio has the soaking tub and a little seating area. Their main bathroom is huge- beautiful modern shower with a huge soaking tub for two. The soaking tub takes some agility getting in and out, but is nice and deep and has jets. It takes a while to fill up, but once it does, it's really relaxing. We love how both walls next to the sliding glass doors on both levels have a see thru fireplace. Such a cute, romantic detail that's nice to have running while you're relaxing. The heated floors in the bathroom are an added perk. Oh! And you get your own garage- even though you still have to access the home from outside the garage. They are incredible accommodating. They have a list of things offered on request like kids toys, hygiene kits, ironing board, etc. They get added points for having those really expensive amazing Dyson hair dryers as their hair drying option too It's one of our favorite places to stay!

The champagne at check-in is a nice touch. If there's a line, sit by the fire in the lobby or the one outside while you wait. Rooms are good sized, especially the mini suites. Small things keep this from getting five stars: * No true desk area with plugs if you have to work * Lights in bathroom are dim making it harder to shave * Bed is very comfortable but pillows are mid Spa is very nice. I appreciate the steam room and the shared quiet room with snacks. The heated outdoor jacuzzi is epic -- I may have stayed in it for 30 mins. Massages are resort priced but excellent. Food is high quality and good variety. (Will review separately) Lots of onsite activities, especially during summer. Almost all of the staff are over the top friendly. Despite asking every time, I've never been able to get a late checkout. I guess they are always busy.

What should have been a restful night turned into a nightmare…read more Around 3:00 a.m., the toilet in our room suddenly overflowed due to a failing valve, according to engineering. I had to stop the flooding myself, getting soaked in dirty water contaminated with urine and feces. Reaching anyone for help was nearly impossible--the front desk and operator didn't answer, and housekeeping took 10 minutes to pick up. After engineering temporarily repaired the toilet that was on its way out, housekeeping barely cleaned the bathroom. They wiped up the visible mess with towels but never mopped or disinfected the area, despite us traveling with children and a baby. I went down to speak with the front desk manager, Kayla Smith at 5:00 a.m. after losing an entire night's sleep, the only compensation she offered was some resort credit. I asked for a late checkout so we could at least get some rest, but I was told the hotel was "fully booked" and couldn't accommodate the request. On a Monday, that explanation was difficult to believe and felt like an excuse rather than a genuine attempt to help. Beyond the great location, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Between the lack of responsiveness, inadequate cleanup, and poor customer service, I can't recommend staying at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are better options nearby.

The pear and caramelized walnut salad was incredible and a perfect way to start our meal. For pizza, we ordered the Bear Camp, the Margherita, and a pepperoni pizza for our daughter. Every bite was delicious! The Margherita had fresh, vibrant flavors, the Bear Camp was loaded with toppings, and our daughter couldn't get enough of the pepperoni pizza. The only thing to know before you go is that this place is extremely popular, so be prepared to wait. We had about a 1 1/2-hour wait for a table. My recommendation is to put your name on the list first, then spend some time walking around and shopping while you wait. Trust me--don't show up starving, or the wait will feel even longer! The food was well worth it, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in South Lake Tahoe.

The good news is we finally made it to South Lake Tahoe. So, all is well. The pool is indoors. It looks dated as the whole resort does. But it's still nice. The water is cool, but not cold like it is at the lake. They had a lifeguard on duty while we were here. The outdoor space is really run down. Someone also needs to work on the landscape as it's over run by weeds. The room is dated. We do like it for the size and location. It doesn't have an odd smell to it. It doesn't smell old or stale so that is good. It is a very good size room. The 2 queen option was cheaper then the king do we got it. The downside of the room is they don't have a loveseat or couch to sit and watch tv. They do have a single desk chair. The gym is good, we didn't use it, but it is a good size and many pieces of equipment. They even have a recumbent bike which my husband loves. They have one restaurant on site. A diner of sorts that serves all day long. Including bottomless mimosas for brunch, happy hour tacos, and a special $19.99 or approximately priced prime rib dinners. We've eaten there. Nothing special, but works. For us location really matters. We want to be close to the Heavenly village and South of North.

In fact, we specifically chose Bally's because it advertised a hot tub as part of its amenities. When we arrived, my husband did not notice a small sign indicating that the hot tub was temporarily closed. The following day, after completing a strenuous hike, we came back looking forward to relaxing in the pool area and using the hot tub, only to discover a yellow "Closed" sign near it. We were obviously disappointed. The next day, I went to the front desk and asked when the hot tub would reopen. The employee told me they didn't know. I explained that had I known the hot tub would be closed, I would not have booked the hotel. His response was, "You were warned. You could have left and gone somewhere else." I found that response extremely rude and dismissive. Once you have traveled to a destination, made plans, unpacked, and settled into your hotel, telling a guest that they should simply cancel their reservation and find another hotel is hardly a reasonable solution. We also genuinely did not see the sign when we arrived. When the employee pointed it out to me, the small, flimsy acrylic sign was actually lying face-down on the counter. I asked whether the hotel would offer any compensation, particularly because we were being charged a $33-per-day resort fee for amenities that we were unable to enjoy. We did not use any of the resort-fee amenities, and given that the hot tub was one of the main reasons we selected this hotel, the resort fee provided us with essentially no value. Unfortunately, the hot tub was not the only disappointment. The hotel itself felt quite rundown. Our room had a stale smell, the carpeting appeared dirty, and the casino was practically empty. Overall, the property did not provide the relaxing experience we had expected. We ended up going to Caesars instead and had a wonderful time gambling and dining there. Based on our experience, we will definitely be staying at Caesars the next time we visit South Lake Tahoe. The biggest disappointment, however, was not simply that an amenity was temporarily unavailable. Things break and circumstances change. It was the dismissive attitude toward a paying guest and the refusal to acknowledge that we had specifically chosen the hotel because of that amenity. A little courtesy and customer service would have gone a long way.

I'm glad that I hadn't read most…read moreof the reviews prior to visiting, since many of the other reviewers commented about their frustration on issues that I knew about in advance.. I knew that the mandatory valet parking fee was expensive, and I knew that the resort fee was uncomfortably high. I also knew the Margaritaville brand, and that there would likely be a disconnect between the lake/ mountain experience of Lake Tahoe versus the traditional Margaritaville palm tree vibe. All of that said, there's a lot to like here. The rooms are large, with a separate living room area from the bedroom, there's a dining table, mini fridge, safe in the room, and the water pressure is pretty decent from the handheld shower head. The location is also wonderful, just feet away from the major casinos on the Nevada side, lots of restaurants and retail, the marina, Heavenly village, Edgewood, etc. We spent more time outside the room then we did inside. The TV channels having pretty basic cable was a bit of an annoyance, but since they do have Chromecast, I was able to cast my own TV apps from my phone to the hotel TV. The hotel had a musician come in daily (nice touch), and from their position in the lobby, their voice carried throughout the entire hotel. The hotel itself gives off a layout vibe of an Embassy suites - about eight floors of rooms around a middle courtyard that has the breakfast restaurant on one side, the bar and other seating on the opposite side, and lots of foliage all over. There's also a lot of colorful seating with umbrella covering around the outside of the hotel, which makes indoor / outdoor living easy. That said, I am disappointed with the management/leadership of this hotel, as all of the biggest frustrations are simple fixes that have come up in recurring complaints on this review site. People complain about the lack of engagement at check-in, and I experienced the same thing. Teaching people in hospitality on how to engage with traveling guests is part art and part operational science, but despite all the people who have complained about it, it's still not fixed. I pray that somebody from Margaritaville leadership would take over and start training on how to speak to a customer. I've experienced far better engagement from the cashiers at my local supermarket than I did at this hotel. I've personally trained hundreds of customer service representatives in my 30-plus year career, I was tempted to start teaching people on the spot. Come on Margaritaville, please be better. I've also been trying to come up with a better word for the shuttle management, but I just have to use the word dumb. Before we arrived, I received a text from the hotel informing me of the available shuttle to take us around the local area, and encouraging me to ask the front desk when I arrive. I did ask the front desk agent, and she shared "I don't know when the shuttle runs - it just kind of goes around in a loop. We don't have anything to do with it, you should ask the valet." So I then went to the valet booth, where they said "yeah, it's here when it's here, it picks up and drops off on its own schedule, you should ask the guys who park cars if they've seen it yet today." So when we wanted to go to the marina, we stood out in front and asked the parking attendant, and he encouraged us to stand by the trash can and wait. We waited about 5 minutes (the shuttle was there with hazards flashing, they just couldn't find the driver) at which point we decided to just walk the 1.5 miles on our own. This hotel motivated us to get a lot of steps in over our 4 days.. we never did get to use the shuttle as it never seemed to be available. Even if the hotel has made the strategic decision not to put the shuttle on a fixed schedule, a true "resort" would say, "how about you enjoy our lobby comfortably, and when the shuttle arrives will come get you" (or something similar). To have a plan of putting customers next to the trash can, as a hospitality business, it's just bad leadership judgment. So overall, everything about this Margaritaville gives off the Embassy suites vibe (not a bad thing), from the rooms and layout to the amenities, even down to the "we clean your room when we feel like it" experience (for us, they randomly cleaned it after day 3 of our four-day visit)... And that all comes at a premium price, with additional fees. There's nothing that for me felt like a "resort." All of that is balanced against a great location and the laid-back Margaritaville appearance which I personally enjoy. I keep asking myself if I would stay there again - the best answer I have is probably not at these prices, but if the price was right I would give it another shot.

We were told we were upgraded because of booking through Amex THC, however, I got the same Two queen bed premium suite that I booked. After calling and checking on the upgrade - they said "that was the upgrade because the hotel was filled with bookings". We didnt get any view or extra amenities. As soon as you enter the driveway - there is always a smell of smoking and weed both near the exits and in the hallways regardless of the no smoking signs everywhere. The bathroom is quite small and has a bit of mold growth on the ceilings, there is absolutely no ventilation nor exhaust in the bathroom. The rooms are small but they work, not many complaints there. The indoor pool is very musty and stinks of strong chlorine with no ventilation again. There is an outdoor patio attached to this but it was a wreck that guests probably have not kept well but the hotel staff also dont bother to clean during the day. The hotel does not have any self parking, and valet is $50-$60 on any given day. To top this off, the hotel charges $50 resort fee, $7 taxes on the resort fee for other amenities which includes a PRE ROUTED SHUTTLE. They say its a shuttle within a 4 mile radius but thats not true and it stops at a ski resort and something else. The only good thing for paying almost $1K for two nights was probably the $100 F&B credit with Amex THC that I could use at the cafe. This isn't even peak season, its late August.

Since last year a sports bar opened, which was very cool, tons of screens and great food and drinks. We rented three rooms and only one had an issue with the keys, but once that was worked out everything was fine. Close to everything so you really can get by without even driving. Speaking of which, though we did stay Sunday to Tuesday, if there were 3 other people on the private beach along with us, it was a lot...really private. The condo itself was decent, though a bit dated as is typical for Tahoe. That said, very comfortable, fully equipped kitchen. Unlike the lodge, the condos are individually owned so each one will be furnished differently. None of the units have A/C, but numerous fans are provided for warmer months. Out stay the temps outside were perfect so no need. Our unit also had a wood burning fireplace for those looking to come up in the winter, they even have ski lockers. The pool and hot tub were clean...pool a little chilly, the tub perfectly heated. There is also a fire pit, cornhole and a volleyball net for those so inclined. Beach chairs and towels are also provided, a nice touch. As with everything, a little pricey but you are right on the lake and, oh yeah, a really private beach. Plenty of free parking and a short stroll down the beach or on the street to restaurants (right behind Heidi's...the best breakfast on the lake!!), water craft rentals and close to groceries. All in all, a great 3 day staycation to celebrate our honeymoon (they surprised us with wine). Again, thank you Jose and the team for making it even better!

The view was perfect, step out the back slider right our big deck Super easy beach access just steps away. Big outdoor pool. Hot tub. Firepits and grills available, badminton or volleyball net set up. Plenty of chairs to sit on the beach, and loads of seating around the pool. I think I saw cornhole boards. Very clean all around. Room was VERY big, w 2 Queen beds and a table/desk set up w 2 upholstered chairs. Spacious and very clean. Mini fridge w no even little freezer compartment. No micro. Minor not'perfect' observations: the bathroom is tiny, but clean. Like you can't open door completely because there's just not much rm btwn door, have to kinda wiggle your way in, lol and toilet is loooow how low can ya go? Lol. Great for small kids, but adults trying to plant their bum on the seat are going to regret not doing quad exercises to help squat more gracefully and without shin splints, haha. Heidis restaurant is literally in the adjacent parking lot, close enough to walk from your room. They are open Breakfast and lunch only, closing at 2. Delicious food, large portions,friendly staff. Opens at, I think, 630am. Yum! We will definitely stay again.
