My friends got married yesterday, and the reception was here. I'll give you the highlights: 1. The PEOPLE. Sue and her crew are phenomenal!! From the moment we walked in to set up, they treated us so well; not like we were a nuisance. They have a friendly, efficient crew. Everyone was attentive and helpful! Bride said the same on her end! 2. The SPACE. This place is huge and newly remodeled!! Very tastefully done in shades of taupe. One of the best layouts I've seen. They had everything we needed, and then some! 3. The PRICE. My friend said this was the most reasonably priced venue in the range she was looking at. She couldn't believe how affordable it was!! 4. The FOOD. The roast beef melted in your mouth, everything was SO good, and I did not want to stop eating. You do have to go with their catering, but there's no reason not to! With two buffet lines, everyone had food quickly. 5. The CLEAN-UP. I always expect to stay forever after these things, because I just can't leave when there's a big mess. These ladies sprang into action and I'd say within 15 minutes, the tables were cleared, linens and chair covers packed, centerpieces boxed up - they are amazing!! We went on a Saturday..got there around 3pm and left at 5pm. We barely ran into anyone while exploring..which was great. 2hrs was obviously not enough time. When we got there we checked in at the table..you get a wristband while on the property. Purchasing your tickets ahead of time..it makes life for the employees a lot easier. It's dark and there isn't power..so using the iPad to check out is a pain for them. They give you the rules and what not to do..where to stay out of..and they let you explore all on your own. We literally had so much fun. Make sure to bring plenty of flashlights and warm clothes if you're going during that winter season like we did. There are tunles that run from building to building..awesome! The chapel is incredible, the cell housing areas are just as cool..just so many things..the prison barber school..the cobbler shop. So many nooks and crannies. We learned theyll have overnight explorations in the spring/summer/fall in 2023. There will be a hydroponics building as well. It was the smallest of all the places, the bar itself was small and cozy, and the beer selection was not wide nor varied, but man, was this place busy. As with most dive bars, the place had character and was filled with 'characters'. The craft beer selection was painfully limited but they did offer your normal selection of mixed drinks. The place is also very small. It makes for a cozy and "intimate" ambiance, but then again bellying up to the bar was a pain. Overall, this is the piously place currently in this little hicktown and it was in full display.

The convention center is easy to find, being a short distance off of Interstate 99. Parking is adequate with both a front lot and garage on the side of the building. Convention center is surprisingly large but easy to navigate. Setsucon, the convention I attended, did not use the bottom floor. Top Floor has a good amount of space that includes both main event and meeting rooms. Even with an estimated 1,000 attendees, the top floor was not crowded. Bathrooms were larger than expected and able to handle a crowd. The cafe area the convention center setup had many options that were surprisingly good and inexpensive (everyone seemed to rave about the meatloaf.) There are also many dining, entertainment, and shopping options in the surrounding area. Blair County Convention Center does have some flaws. Elevator to the attached hotel is a potential choke-point due to being very slow. The attached hotel, a Courtyard by Marriott, is small for the size of the convention center. Overall, the Blair County Convention Center is good for a convention.

This picturesque multi level stone and log lodge served as a perfect wedding venue; outdoor ceremony by the pine tree lined lillypad lake, covered porch for 3 season bar and buffet, large dining room and dance floor combo. Adjacent grounds were filled with tables and chairs for mingling and schmoozing. Overall, this was a lovely and memorable venue. Once we actually found it, navigation was not our friend, we enjoyed hours of celebration and joy.
