I don't frequent this location that much, but the times I had been here were always superb. Dr Alan and Dr. Destiny are nice and amazing. They listen to the patients and provide the needed adjustments and additional recommendations. The Joint Chiropractor La Mesa location is huge IMHO and like that the times I had been here, it was not busy or maybe I had just been really lucky not hitting the rush hours like at other places hahaha. Terrible service here. Walked in seemed claim. Front desk person confirmed I was checked in. And the Dr.Derek only had one person ahead of me that they were already working on. He finished up with the patient and I guess he didn't see his screen that he had another person because he walked to the office close the door and just sat there. I thought maybe he's catching up on paperwork so I gave him some time 10 minutes later nothing. I asked the front desk person is the doctor on a break. He said yeah I guess so. Instead of checking up on a doctor to see if he knows he has a patient waiting. Waited a few more minutes nothing. Was over waiting decided to go to a different location. I came to this one because I was near it and assumed I'd get the same service as I do it all the other locations. I was wrong and now I see why they have a three-star rating. read more

I have consistently received excellent service and effective care at other locations, which is why I looked forward to stopping in for my weekly adjustment while in the neighborhood--especially given that I was experiencing discomfort from a rib that had popped out. When I described the pain and shared what adjustment techniques had been successful for me in the past, the doctor made it clear he was not interested in my input, insisting instead on using his own methods. His demeanor was unfriendly; he raised his voice, which made me feel uncomfortable and ultimately caused me to shut down during the visit. Unfortunately, I left without any relief and with the resolve not to return to this location. I have been to many locations in San Diego and Riverside Counties as well as Colorado. This location is convenient for me now that I've moved to the neighborhood. Staff is friendly. The doctor I see there is really good. I plan on coming in weekly. I usually see two doctors at most locations but this one only seems to have one at the moment. It's worth a little extra wait but hopefully they can get a second doctor in soon to make it a little quicker. read more

I suffered with hip pain for seven months with no relief. I had an X-ray and did physical therapy through my primary care as well as doing a lot of self care at home. Nothing worked until I started coming to the chiropractor. The pain subsided after a few weeks of treatment. It has been almost two years now and as long as I keep up weekly visits I stay pain free! I like the business model, it is affordable and I almost always get seen within ten minutes of walking in. I am very happy that Dr Smith is at the La Mesa location now! He is the best and this location is close by. To be honest we drove to farther locations many times because a few of the chiropractors just aren't that great. That is the only thing keeping this from a 5 star review. I will say that it is only a few and that most of them are great! This location has been, and will always suck. I recently moved into the area and went in maybe 3 times. I drive 20 minutes to go to more trusted location with better doctors. I happened to be next door today and said one last try.... First off, there was a wait. Dr. Derek smith was the only man on duty. He didn't care to ask how I felt or how to help. I tried telling him all he did was read my notes and crack me couple times on each side of table. Never did anything helpful. I was in there since my back was sore, and neck been in more pain than ever! He went at my neck and I stopped him saying please don't do that, my neck is in serious pain and he said don't worry, proceeds to just smack each side of my neck without any tools, or massaging. I am in worse pain now and he was no help. Even told him after "why did you do that" I got no help. Even told him that to his face: and could have done the same thing he did to my neck from my couch or car. Pathetic. Guys like him are why I will eventually cancel my membership. I will never step foot in that location, I don't care if I lived walking distance. Place should be shut down and he should be removed from their list of doctors. He cares more about getting rid of patients in the lobby than actually helping the ones on the table. Shame on you Derek smith! read more

I came here as a student seeking help for some back pain, and instead, I got scammed and robbed. They took advantage of the fact that I'm a student with limited knowledge of chiropractic services and overcharged me for services I didn't need or agree to. Not only did they fail to provide any real treatment, but they also refused to refund me after I realized what had happened. I'm now having to pursue legal action because of the scam. Supervisors have completely ghosted me and not responded at all as well. read more

I recently had a frustrating experience at The Joint Chiropractic in La Mesa. On 9/11/2024, I called to cancel my Wellness Plan and was told I had to come in person to do so. I went to the location on 9/15/2024 at 10:30 AM, only to be met with terrible customer service. When I informed the gentleman at the front desk that I wanted to cancel my plan, he told me he didn't know how to do it. I asked if anyone else could help, and he sarcastically asked if I saw a secretary. I then asked him how he could work there and not know how to cancel a plan, to which he responded that he wasn't a secretary. After I escorted my family outside, I returned to ask for his name, but he refused to give it and walked away. Despite my attempts to cancel over the phone and in person, they seem unwilling or unable to process my cancellation, and I'm still being charged $89 per month. I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau about this issue. I would warn anyone considering this place to think twice--their customer service is terrible, and they make it incredibly difficult to cancel memberships. Beware! read more

I have had 3 major surgeries in the last 3 years, all were on my intake form and the Dr didn't ask about any of it on my first visit. Very alarming and not a thorough evaluation. I asked about follow up exercises and the Chiropractor said he would email me, that email never came but I was called for a follow up appointment. Some relieve but not enough, I saw another Chiropractor a week later at a different practice who asked about all my medical history and did more than one adjustment. The receptionist is really nice and super helpful. The doctor that was there Friday afternoon. Really bad personality. I took my mom so she can just get an adjustment. Nothing that had to do with a fall or an accident, just an adjustment. He came out asking if she was in Medicare I said yes, he then asked if she was injured, I said no. The doctor went on and on and ON, on how he could lose his license if he touched her because of her injuries. I explained to him she doesn't have no type of injuries. Again, he was getting loud and still saying that my mom was injured. We left. Horrible person. I am glad we left. I Showed up at 4:25 and the front desk Girl told me they had to turn me away because they had a new patient and they didn't have time to get to me. I been to Almost all the joints in San Diego and been a patient for 4 years already. Even recommended a bunch of my employees to go to the joint and I never once heard anything like this before. I made it before to other locations 5 min before close and they took me in. This is ridiculous that they would turn me away 35 min before closing. This location is inconsistent with the Drs. that are practicing there. On a routine visit my experience was painful. The Dr. performed a stretch on my neck. The procedure caused me a lot of pain. At the time I explained my pain that he caused and was asking him to redo the procedure to alleviate my pain. That was refused and his advice was to "put some hot and cold compression on your neck". For three days the pain did not go away and was getting worse. The only recourse was to go to another Chiropractor and see what could be done. The other doctor commented that my vertebra in my neck was offset and was pinching the nerves. He then readjusted and gave me one month of rest from physical labor. I work, now what do I do? Bare the stupidity of this Doctor and try to negate the pain. I did call the La Mesa location, and the receptionist was polite but nothing forthcoming on resolving the issue. No apology, nothing to help my pain, and apparently shielding the Dr. because we are thinking now thinking LAWSUIT! read more

I've been a member of the joint chiropractic since 2013. I began at the Escondido clinic. I have traveled across the country using the joint chiropractic and many states so I am very familiar with the practice and good quality doctors that the joint typically employees. One of my associates owns quite a few of these locations in Florida That being said I came in here on September 15 at around 2 PM and was greeted by a very kind older gentleman who was very friendly. I told him that my neck was out and I told him how I am adjusted best he reviewed the notes, and proceeded to attempt to adjust me with the table movement, manually and with the little hand device that they used to force adjustments. I found no relief. I was extremely disappointed. He had no technical skills in my opinion whatsoever he relied too much on the table, he tried to manually adjust my neck, one time and only in one way and used the table for the most part. I was in a lot of pain. I found it difficult to drive there and when I left, I found no relief and I'm still in pain. I am now going to my regular location as I was traveling and I live in Florida currently I do not think this doctor should be a doctor here at the joint. I do not feel like I got my money worth or my times worth I kept asking, I kept telling him I was not feeling or finding any relief until finally after 30 minutes I just gave up and continued on my way. He should not be a chiropractor. I have not met somebody so inept and all of the years I have been going to the joint. read more

This branch is unpredictable. I usually call ahead to make sure if they aren't busy. Most of the time my calls aren't picked up. If that's that case, I'll go to the location to find out (on multiple accounts) that they're closed when it says online they're open seven days a week from a certain time to a certain time. They then charged me for a regular monthly membership when I specifically said I wanted to CANCEL. They told me there are no refunds because the transaction already went through. I am swaying between giving a 3 or 4 star review because some of the doctors are better/stronger then others. I would even consider possibly giving a 5 star rating if they would do a Y-Strap adjustment but they do not offer this. I had it done once and it is truly is amazing and life changing. read more

I do NOT recommend this Chiropractor chain. I had a very bad experience with them. I went to this center with extreme leg and hip pain, and while I was in a lot of pain and before they even fully diagnosed my case they told me I would need several sessions and it would be cheaper to sign a monthly agreement. They said if I wish I could cancel this agreement within two months. I was in so much pain and they presented me with approx 15 pages to fill out. I said guys I am in pain and don't have my reading glasses with me, so go ahead and fill out these forms on my behalf and I will sign it but hurry up please snd help relieve my pain. After that I went in and the chiropractor did few things that did not make any difference. But they said I would need several sessions. Next day I came for another season and a young guy ( not sure if he was a technician or Chiropractor) he spent literally 5 minutes cracking my neck and hip and let me go. I felt what these guys did was a waste of time. After that I went to a professional pain doctor who did a thorough assessment and diagnosed my case as Siatica then he gave me a cortisone injection in my back that took care of my condition. I never went back to this Chiropractor or any of their other branches. They charged my visa card for two months. I objected to these charges and told them to cancel any agreement I signed under the influence of pain and just charge me for two visits. But this company clearly takes advantage of people who are in pain and cheat them into signing stupid long term agreements intended to benefit them financially at the expense of patients. I told them in writing that I left the California soon after the first two mediocre sessions I had at their center and therefore it was NOT fair and immoral for them to charge me for two months even though I never used their services except the first two sessions that made zero improvement to my pain... but they insisted on charging me for two months unfairly and unethically. read more
