A great chiropractor for an older man with back and knee problems. Their subscription is well worth it.

I don't like to give negative reviews, but this experience really bothered me. Let me state up front that I give the quality of care and professionalism 5 stars. It's their business model that I'm at odds with. Bait and switch! To make a long story short, I was in Clearwater a couple weeks ago for a wedding. I woke up Saturday morning with intense sciatica. Luckily there was a Joint nearby in Seminole, and open all weekend. Great people. They listened, they listened, they made adjustments, wrote a script and I bought a plan. As part of the plan, and being a first timer, they included 3 free visits to use in the first month. Great, I was going to need them. I went back Sunday morning and again Tuesday morning. Now vacation was over and time to go back home. So now I went to the Joint in New Tampa on BBD only to to be told that I only had one visit remaining and they would not recognize the free visits offered at another facility. I showed my paperwork (attached) and that didn't matter. The gentleman in reception was polite, and made a call to verify, but held the ground. I was sold on The Joint as a nationwide concept as I travel a lot and was told that every location is connected and you can use your appointments anywhere. So now, the New Tampa store, which is close to me, lost a patient for life along with the other people I promise I'll share this message with. Maybe my first 3 visits in Seminole were the "free" visits" and what remaining are the 4 paid visits...possible?

Our whole world collapsed on December 23, 2021. I woke up in excruciating pain, unable to fully take a whole breath. After being admitted to the hospital, I found out I had a severe form of necrotizing pancreatitis. After spending more than half a year in the hospital I was released with humility in my heart for being able to see my children grow up. In time, we realized that I had a chronic form of pancreatic disease. I will suffer flare-ups in perpetuity. My diet would make most people look slack-jawed at how minimalist it is. Cooked veggies, bone-broth, High-protein Ensure. That's basically it. Everything else causes severe pain. Trust me, I've tried. All of this leads me to Dr Murphy and his Chronic pain-management practice. Unlike many doctors, Dr Murphy and his staff are warm and welcoming and treat you like family. The amount of professionalism at this practice is in a league of its own. I filled out a twenty-four page package that allowed Dr Murphy to treat me to the best of his ability before I even stepped foot in his practice. They do random drug & alcohol screenings so that he can give you the very best care. I feel safe knowing that I'm being treated with the highest medical standards within a practice that I can trust to really make sure I am not only treating my pain, but, safely doing so. I cannot recommend Dr Murphy and his staff enough. I'd trust them with own health, as well as any loved ones, if they should ever need such services. If you're looking for a serious chronic pain management practice that takes into account your mental and physical health as well as all safety measures, look no further. This is the place to go.

It's a real chore to see charges or to be informed about charges accrued, but they are aggressive to have you to pay blindly without any explanation of charges. He is trusted by recognizable athletes to treat their chronic pain issues but doesn't advertise this fact with sports jerseys throughout his office as you may have noticed around insecure doctors offices. He treats all of his patients with the same respect and you feel as if YOU are his star patient. His office staff is courteous and helpful. Do NOT see him if you are looking for "pills" and intend to "shop" for a suitable physician to feed your addiction (I suspect this is the reason for some lower ratings). He uses floroscopy while a general anesthetic is given by the Anesthesiologist (Dr. Blackshear, we share a sense of humor. Ask him when was the last time he passed gas :-] ) to tackle the problem at the "root" by nerve blocks in several varieties as well as Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA-the thermal destruction of nerves/roots) . His pre/post operative nurses (both experts at getting difficult IV sites) and other surgical assistants are accurate and very well trained and all are kind as is the doctor. If it is indicated, he may prescribe medication but is very conservatively, using his judgment, always attempting to back away from Narcotic Analgesics where possible. Not to worry, he will not leave you in pain though. Pain is relative and subjective, a point not lost on the doctor or his assistant that you may see for follow-up visits. He treats you as an individual and is not in a hurry, so occasionally an extra wait time will be noted (perhaps another reason for the some complaint). I want a doctor who is not in a hurry, who is willing to talk with me irregardless and is deeply concerned with improving my quality of life. He has made such a difference in my life that, though he is reimbursed, I personally owe him a debt of gratitude (as does my wife, immediate family and close friends) that no dollar value can be assigned to it. In my day, I worked very closely with physicians and they are not built equally. Bedside manner is definitely noted from Dr Ramirez, plus I think he might be scared by pain at a personal level, having been fortunate enough not to have first hand knowledge of it (just kidding, he's not a big wuss). I hope this helps anyone who values the opinion of a patient who has been under his care for over five years. Be sure to choose wisely, I know that I have. Thank you all at Intervention al Pain Management.

By 2002, I had had 8 surgeries on the nerves in my arm and the surgeon said there was nothing more he could do and he released me. I was still in a lot of pain and had been diagnosed with RSD, Reflex Sympathetic Distrophy a form of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) a chronic condition characterized by severe burning pain. The pain was so severe, the doctors put me on oxycontin and recommended a pain specialist, Dr. Herson. Dr. Herson observed that I had developed this chronic disease and placed me on pain management. The first thing he did was wean me off oxycontin, he said it was a very addictive drug and he wanted me off of it - he probably saved me from becoming an addict. I've gone to him for years and he really cares about his patients and he stays up to date on any and all medical developments that might help his patients. He tries his best to restore you to a normal life...he's just not in it for just the buck, he really enjoys finding the best treatment for his patients. As for any negative reviews about him, you have to remember that some people seek out pain doctors for drugs...that's why we have such a huge drug problem in the U.S. right now. Don't go to Dr. Herson if that's what you're after - you won't find it here. I have been a patient of Dr. Herson's for 16 years and he has helped me tremendously - not by upping my meds but actually reducing them and managing a program that will help you not hurt you more. This is a family practice, he's wife and mother help him run his business and when you're there, they make you feel comfortable and cared for. It's a shame that pain doctors get a bad rap, especially when this one really tries his best to do good for his patients. Like I said, if you want drugs, this is not the doctor to see, if you want relief for pain, he is an honest good doctor that really cares.
