It would make for great strolling and B&B's would only lend to the charm of these gentrified neighborhoods. The Harrison House is one of the few bed and breakfast inns within striking distance of downtown and is situated on the very edge of Ohio State's campus in the neighborhood known as Harrison West (hence the name, Harrison House). The 1890's Victorian home has a great location and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been beautifully renovated to include six rooms that range in price from $129 to $169 dollars. All of the guest rooms have a private bath, queen size bed, cable television and wireless Internet service. Breakfast is included in the price and free parking is available on site- which is a bonus given the street parking in this area is hard to come by at times, especially when Ohio State is in session. I have stayed in loads of insanely beautiful B&B's and have developed super high standards when it comes to these types of accommodations. Aside from the Harrison House being privately owned and located in a nifty part of town, there isn't anything particularly special about the place.

We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

The kitchen has filtered water from the fridge, keurig coffee, microwave, and dishes. There are snacks like popcorn, crackers, yogurt, and cereal available all day. In the morning, they put out a fresh pastry (different and delicious each day!), toast, beautiful fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. The room had a hair dryer, bar soap, makeup wipes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We also had a smart tv so I could log into my own Hulu account. There is a pretty park and lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, including a major grocery store. Could not have imagined a better place...I wish I lived there!

When you drive to the location, it's easy to locate. You drive past the winery, and go to the end of the hill and you will see a sign that says Carriage house 1 & 2. There is two carriage houses that share a pavilion at the bottom of the back yard. The place is beautiful inside. At the top it has a large living room and kitchen area. They have a restroom on the main level, a porch with seats and a grille on the main floor. Upstairs there is a little nook where seating is available, 2 bedrooms and a master bathroom with a jet tub, and shower. The lower level has a bar, yes a bar, and a center section that allows you to huddle, bathroom, and 2 bedrooms. Outside of the area is a lower porch, which has a hot tub. Warning about the hot tub, when you first get in it, it's 120 degrees. Take the top off and let it cool down. It will cool down a lot and feel much better over time. It's nice to relax with the tub. They have a lower section that has a fire pit and seats available. In the back of the house there is trails which has a broken bridge. We went through the stream to get to the other side. I have a bad knee, but made it through fine. :) If you are seeking Internet usage, this is a bad cabin to get access. There is no Internet at the cabin, that's a good or bad thing. In downtime, we are used to having Internet usage. However it's tough when you want it and can't get it. Verizon is the better service, but I had no access. However some mornings I'd wake up with some notifications that went through some how. If you want Internet, go down the drive way and you can obtain a little access, exit the driveway and walk to the top of the hill and I've picked up a great signal there. If you want better access, go out to the Indian Bear Resort over near the lake, but walk towards the winery but stop in the center and the service is perfect there. I've added a image of where that it's good at. My only ask or recommendation to Indian Bear Resort, maybe offer Internet service. It would be nice and helpful, but I understand being off-line can be a request and need as well. Now the lake area is pretty nice as well. Lots to do up there. You can get on kayaks, small boats etc; It allows you to swim and or boat around. This is nice. The only downside is the days that we went had a large group that would "HOG" all of the boats and would leave with a mess. Overall it was a pleasant stay and nice to get away after all of the COVID quarantine. I highly recommend coming here. Here is an aerial view of the winery from my sons drone: https://youtu.be/Fe5Cwc7Ije0

My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on 8/11/20…read more We do a trip every year for our anniversary and this year my wife decided she wanted to visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. So I planned a 2-day trip and while doing my research for a place to stay on 8/11, I happened upon The Timbrook Guesthouse. I will keep the review as short as possible because I love brevity but I make no promises. Jill, the owner, is super fantastic and a 10-star host. She puts forth a Brobdingnagian effort to make sure her guests are happy. If you stay at Timbrook, you will not be able to understand how she does it. No human could possibly do all of the things Jill does everyday to keep Timbrook running like a well-oiled machine. I think she may be a robot. Timbrook itself is the kind of house we'd live in forever if we didn't have 10 fleabaggy cats who love to ruin everything and drive us crazy. The house and the property are just amazing in every way. There are a lot of fun things to do in and around Columbus but you won't wanna leave the property. The house itself and our room were incredible. Everything was super clean, comfortable and welcoming, and we loved how it was decorated. And it's so quiet. The house is so quiet. I love quiet. Did I mention it was quiet? We got to meet KoKo, an awesome bird who loves to eat large nuts. Jill fed him as we watched and it was really a treat. We also got to meet Charlie, another awesome bird who can really voice his opinion. There are also a whole bunch of chickens and who doesn't love watching chickens scamper about. BREAKFAST was so many positive adjectives, I couldn't possibly list them all. A fruit cup that was akin to Ambrosia (which, if you don't know, is the food of the gods). And a hot meal that I ate slowly and savored every morsel. My wife is a trained chef, so one can imagine the cuisine i'm used to, and this was just crazy-delicious. Our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer. My wife and I met a very nice older couple at breakfast who said they were staying all week. We were so envious. We both agreed that when we come back to Columbus, we will stay at Timbrook. We got to see Puka the cat if only briefly right before we left. Maybe next time we visit, we can get closer to pet him but he was a little spooked and being cat owners ourselves, we totally understood. Our Teddy hides under the bed whenever people he doesn't know come over our house. His sister, Ruby, hides too. But Puka is gorgeous and count yourself lucky if you get to see him. Our experience was 10 stars. So if you plan on being in the Columbus area, make sure you do not miss this treasure. Tell Jill that Kevin and Carrie sent you!

As soon as we found out, my wife called and was told that it was no problem, that there is a waiting list, and once it is cancelled, we would get a refund. We would be charged a $35 fee, though. Having not yet received a confirmation email, my wife called again, asking about the refund. And she talked to a very rude person who said we were not getting a refund because it included a holiday. Also snapped "it is clearly written in the confirmation" several times and completely ignored the question of someone previously giving us false information. The excuse was "I am a small business and need to survive"... but rings very hollow because there is no doubt it was re-rented, in fact, she is double dipping and making twice the money. Nice little racket, if you ask me. While I did miss the holiday clause in the confirmation (which was made 35 days before the arrival date, so not much time to cancel), the fact that we were told we were getting a refund is a huge problem. If we were told the truth, we would have made arrangements to at least partially attend. And if this is the way they treat customers, I am wondering if I didn't dodge a bullet by not going. Needless to say, I will never patronize this business.

The amount that I paid for my room a night (approx, $150/night) was a great value because the rooms here are basically mini apartments - the mini kitchen and comfortable space for one person or even 2 people. ENTRANCE -- I had a little difficulty finding the front door entrance but someone at the dog business downstairs helped me. You have to drive your car up a back ramp to get to the entrance (or a taxi or a rental car). Once you are up the ramp, this is where the hotel parking lot is located. You can also walk up the ramp if you don't have a car. ROOM -- The room that I chose had a queen-size (I think) bed, a kitchenette, a desk, a TV, tea/coffee station on the counter in the kitchenette, and free WiFi. The kitchenette had a full size fridge, a big microwave, a dishwasher, and a big sink with a sponge and soap. The room also had a mini living area with a small couch/sofa and a side table with a lamp. The room was clean when I arrived along with the bathroom. The hotel has a gym too plus laundry facilities. BREAKFAST -- They offer a full breakfast that is free (included with your hotel cost) so it is better than a simple continental breakfast. Breakfast consisted of eggs, sausages, toast, muffins, cereal, orange juice, etc. They also had tea and coffee. The lobby is clean, neat, and inviting with colourful tables and decor. It has a complimentary tea and coffee station that I used to get cups of tea. The staff that I encountered was warm and welcoming. I may stay here again if I am looking for a hotel but the location is in a somewhat secluded area which I don't prefer. I prefer to be downtown or in a neighbourhood with a lot of people. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 58/250 total reviews in 2026 - 899 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 30 April 2026

My initial inquiry to Nice'N'Homes occurred through Furnished Finders, as I was relocating to…read moreColumbus for a summer contract. Pri was exceptionally responsive and we were able to complete a virtual walk through of the property before any commitment was made. The virtual walk through went very well and I sent over the deposit to hold the property. However, a week before my arrival I was notified that my property was not available due to a pipe bursting and the water supply being shut off to the property. Pri informed me that he may have another unit available, but it was a bit smaller and he was experiencing issues replacing some of the furniture due to the previous tenant not appropriately maintaining the property. Pri assured me that the property was being professionally cleaned and would be ready for my arrival. Upon my arrival, I discovered this to be furthest from the truth. Immediately upon opening the door I was hit with a pungent smell that assaulted my senses. As I continued to walk around the unit, the disappointment prevailed. The entire unit was filthy and required a substantial amount of cleaning. When I brought my concerns to Pri's attention, he increased the volume of his voice and wanted to refund what I had paid. I asked Pri if we were able to have a cleaner revisit the unit and requested that he cover the one night stay at a hotel. He went on to agree to the one night stay, but later changed his mind stating 'he wasn't running a charity and he could not afford to house me for three months.' He continued to state that it was obvious he couldn't meet my 'level of cleanliness'. At this point, I did not have the time to find another long-term solution and agreed to clean the unit myself, along side my Aunt. After spending $1200 we purchased cleaning supplies including a vacuum, mop, cleaning products, new linens, and a small steam cleaner. We then spent 3 hours cleaning the unit. This cleaning included mopping the floors, cleaning the baseboards, washing walls, and more. It became evident that an animal had soiled the carpeting on the stairs and they needed a deep cleaning. The next day I rented a carpet cleaner from Lowe's, as we soon discovered the small steam cleaner previously purchased wasn't going to sufficiently clean the stairs. I then steam-cleaned the stairs twice with the rented carpet cleaner, which did not resolve the rancid animal smell. The couch was also in disarray, as the sides of the couch were destroyed by a cat and there were cigarette burns on the top of the couch. I removed the couch cushions to wash them and steam cleaned the entire couch. After three days of being hopeful, it became evident that this unit was not livable as the pungent smell continued to permeate throughout the unit. I notified Pri that I was going to vacate the property early and requested that he refund my rent, but did agree to allow him to keep the deposit. This is a warning to anyone who considers utilizing their services in the Columbus area. May the odds be forever in your favor.
