Ben is not a good trainer and more than likely running a scam. I am writing this to warn anyone prior to doing business with him. It's all fine if you want to just hand over your money to him, but be careful because you won't actually get your money's worth. I don't think he actually enjoys training people and acts as if his clients are a nuisance. If you see any five stars that is fine because Ben is only nice to specific clients. Paying his price while he is doing nothing special and I have heard he has had many fall outs with people. They probably suspect he is a scam after a while but many of them never come forward. He deals with issues in a very petty manner. I also read how he did not refund someone and I am not surprised. He definitely preys on those who he thinks has money and will string you along to continue your payments. Not to mention while he is at work he acts unprofessional and does not encourage you to do better. There are also other trainers at this gym and it could be that the five stars is for them. In Hawaii you can't keep up scams for long, people will begin to talk. This gym is a joke and anyone going there is still fooled. Also, just to add: Ben does do other things while he trains you. He doesn't care about his clients. He's also not the nicest person when he gets upset about something. This gym is not what he cares about, but more of a money making machine that he thinks he can come to and slack. He thinks people are stupid enough to believe it. Please do not go here, there are seriously much better options. He will use the fear tactic and say other gyms costs a lot more etc. It's better to find a personal trainer that cares about your success. As well as one that will put work in to help you. I know it's hard to find a trainer because there are many that do the same thing as Ben does. However, keep searching and find one that has all the right boxes checked! As Ben has responded to this, he is just doing some damage control. Calls himself top celebrity trainer probably because he just gets by, by the image he created. The greatest gym on the island hands down! This place has everything you need to get the best (and hardest) workout of your life. The key to it all is in the trainers. Never have I been to a facility with a more knowledge group of individuals driven by caring, motivating, and achieving the goals of their clients. You go in, explain what your goals are, and they will all tell you how they will get you far beyond your preconceived aspirations. Our (my and my fiancé's) trainer is Ben Wilkison. What we love about Ben is that he doesn't just show us how to do a workout or movement, but details the micro-movements, explains where to feel the tension, and always promotes proper form. He details how to get all parts of your body to work together so it can run as efficiently as possible, while still achieving the gains or weight loss you desire. Not only have we learned so much on the ins-and-outs of muscle fibers, joint tension, and form for everything, but Ben also, IN-DEPTH, helps with proper nutrition. He is a walking encyclopedia on fitness, training, diet, sleep, recovery; basically overall health! Yet, what we love the most about Ben is his charismatic and positive nature. He'll tell you how it's going to be difficult, and how you'll initially hate what you're going through, and he'll be there with you every step of the way. He doesn't show you how to get from point A to point B, he shows you how to enjoy getting there. The first couple sessions, everything seems miserable and he never gives up faith. The next few sessions become tolerable, and he'll show you what to critique and how to improve. Then pretty soon you begin to love the work you're putting in, and he'll continue to challenge you to be the best you can be. I absolutely love this Gym. Ben- owner and my Personal Trainer has helped me tremendously to get me started on body fat loss/ get leaner through the quick supersets he has me do to reach my ultimate goal-one day compete in a Bikini Fitness Physique Competition in my age group. As a marathon runner/triathlete Ben has worked with me to increase stamina, strengthen every muscle to the smallest detail. I've noticed improvement on weight loss, muscle strength during biking, running and swimming. Ben has discussed how important the correct nutrition I need to achieve my goals every day. This is the one part I really didn't pay attention to during triathlon training and marathon training. So far, I've lost 7 lbs and can see results when I can fit into my "summer Goal Clothing". Met with Coach Ben to discuss helping my little brother with his conditioning and strength training as he was considering walking away from football (something he was so passionately wanting to do) as he did not see the type of progress he would need in order to 1) possibly be a part of the team, 2) to actually play, & 3) to feel he was actually belonged. Ben did not hesitate at all to say he was game and would do everything to support my little brother and teach him the skills necessary to address all of the above. Our first workout was this past weekend, Saturday, and my little brother loved it. Did want to quit a couple of times because he has never worked so hard in getting his body into shape. He liked it so much that he was willing to get up early on a Sunday morning to do it all over again. Coach's passion, training methods, and dedication to his clients was clearly seen and felt and I can attest to why all his other reviews are so high and the results that eventually comes from working with him. I went from never having gone to a gym before, to literally wanting to go back moments after my sessions were done and I had left. Jungle Gym made me feel relaxed and welcomed. I never had to worry about what other people might think, as there is space for everyone. Especially, as a person who can get very anxious when surrounded with other, it has then meant a lot not having to worry about people around. I had Alex as my trainer and I'm truly grateful. She helped me with getting my motivation back and tools to how to handle my migraines. Even if I had an off day, we would work around it, and I would always leave in a better mood than I arrived in. Love this place, it's different from the other gyms around here, it has a very OHANA type of environment. Great atmosphere, music, well-kept and clean. Just had an excellent PT with Ben. I've been wanting to get stronger through the most common power lifts. He provided detailed explanations to execute these lifts properly. Immediately felt the difference from his adjustments to my form. Pretty sure my knee pain will be a thing of the past, and the strength goals I have feel attainable. Great place to train and not be bothered while you're lifting or to joke around and get help if you need it.
