I have been a member with UFC for about 8 months. I have Kaiser Permanente health insurance and through the active & fi program you can join most gyms for $200 and if you take 45 visits within the year you get reimbursed the $200 so it's like a free gym membership. I also work with a coach. Kenna is awesome! I have been working with her for 8 months now. She does my training program and nutrition. I am so thankful to have found a trainer who does both because I always struggled with my meal planning. However, with Kenna's support and guidance I am down 20 lbs. The facilities are run down and half the machines are out of order on any given day. They can't keep staff to save their lives except for the ones that charge you when you haven't gone to their facility for several years. Ren is the worst PT director I have ever encountered. He is irresponsible, unresponsive, and charges accounts without authorization not once, not twice, but three times and literally hides behind his other employees to avoid talking with customers to fix his mistakes. Do not ever go to UFC Honolulu. Drive the extra 20-30 minutes and go to Kailua or Mililani. Waipahu even. UFC Honolulu is the worst (and most expensive) mistake I've ever made. read more

I recently moved to the island and wanted to find a gym that I could really commit to. I checked out UFC Gym, and everything seemed pretty chill, so I decided to pay for an entire year upfront. I didn't receive any special discount for doing so, and after breaking everything down--including the annual fee--I'm still paying around $65/month. Unfortunately, my biggest issue with this gym is the customer service, which has been extremely disappointing. Today, I walked into the gym like I have every other day this week. After scanning in, I was called back to the front desk and told that my card had not gone through and that I had been charged a $30 late fee on top of the $60 annual fee. I completely understand that late fees can happen, but what I don't understand is why my card didn't go through in the first place. When I asked the employee about it, the response I received was essentially, "Beats me." There was no attempt to investigate the issue or figure out what had happened. There were three other employees standing behind the desk watching the situation, but nobody offered any assistance. I then decided to speak with the employee who originally enrolled me. He was a nice guy, but unfortunately, he didn't seem to have much knowledge about how their billing system works. He assured me that the issue was because there were "no funds" in my account. I told him that couldn't be the case, and he challenged me on it. So I asked him to run the card in front of me--and that's when we discovered the actual problem: the card on file wasn't even my card. I had paid over $600 upfront using my card, yet somehow a completely different card had been entered into their system. In other words, the billing issue was caused by an error on their end. After I figured out the problem for them, I was still told that I had to pay the $30 late fee. There was no real attempt to take responsibility for the mistake or work with me on the situation. Honestly, I really wish I had never paid for an entire year upfront. I'm now hoping my bank can help me dispute the charge, and I'm seriously considering finding another gym. The gym itself is fine, but the customer service and lack of accountability have been extremely frustrating. If you're considering signing up, I would strongly recommend making sure you double-check exactly what card and information they have entered into their system before committing to a long-term membership. read more

ADDING 1 STAR. Took about 4 months to get my refund. One manager (I wont say his name, they know who he is) never initiated the cancelation 1st time around and messed it up again the 2nd time around. Then month or two later he sent the refund to the wrong customer. No idea how he still works there. The person who came to save the day every time was Tiffany! I can not say enough great things about her! She very well might be the only person there who knows what's going on. Great customer service! Very professional! The gym workers are nice and the trainers are great but the status of the men's locker room is horrendous. I get the gym has wild hours and it's hard to keep a place clean but there's got to be a greater effort made for the amount of money some ppl pay for these memberships. The mold issue in the men's shower is so bad. You can smell the black mold in there as if it's an old wooden ship.... I've worked on board 40 year old boats that have less mold than that locker room. I genuinely cannot say enough amazing things about Kenna. She is truly the only coach who could have gotten me to where I am today. She is compassionate, understanding, thoughtful, encouraging, and incredibly dedicated to every single one of her clients and their goals. If the staff tells you that you need to speak with Tiffany, don't expect much. Either she doesn't exist or she's really useless. Keep in my Tiffany is the only one that has the power to "help" you. Every time I called, I was told, "She'll call you right back," but that call never came. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first, thinking they were just busy, but after calling once a week and hearing the same promise over and over, nothing ever changed. Hopefully all you need from this gym is a place to work out. If you ever need customer service or have an issue with missing equipment or attachments, don't expect anything, and you'll have an ok time. Another note, my car got hit a while back and I was never told if anything was done. Clearly theres cameras in the parking lot but no help was provided. Every time I come out to visit, I get a week or month pass to come here. Since I'm on California time, I like that they are open 24 hours because I usually wake up at 3 am! On this last visit, they have done some moving around of the equipment and have new equipment as well. Everything is so bright and shiney and great to work out on! They still have the same great vibe and most of the members and staff are friendly. Definitely worth checking out. If you come early the parking lot is full, the meters don't start until 8 am. I had the chance to do a 1-on-1 session with Muay Thai trainer Tong. Even though I already have a background in fighting, I'd never done a private session before, so it was a really exciting and unique experience. I personally love gyms that feel packed with equipment, not messy but full. This place had everything: multiple squat racks, tons of cardio machines, plenty of cable setups, and a turf area. On top of that, they have the UFC vibe going with boxing and jiu-jitsu areas, which gave it great energy. We only ended up working out here two days because wedding events took over, but those sessions were amazing. Both me and my boyfriend left saying we would absolutely come back. If you're in Honolulu and need a solid gym while traveling this one is 10/10. I'll definitely be back on my next trip. I recently relocated to Honolulu for military service and was genuinely interested in joining UFC Gym. Before visiting, I requested a free one-day pass through the UFC Gym website and received an email confirming it. When I arrived, I was given a tour, and almost immediately the conversation shifted to purchasing a membership. The first option presented was a prepaid plan costing around $600. I explained that I had just moved to the island and didn't want to make another long-term commitment without first trying the gym. I had already made that mistake with another gym and didn't want to repeat it. After discussing the monthly option, I asked to use the one-day pass that had already been approved. That's when I was told, "These passes are for locals only. I have to enter your Hawaii ID into the system because a lot of visitors come here and try to work out for free." I explained that I had only been in Hawaii for about three weeks and therefore didn't have a Hawaii driver's license yet. I even offered to show my signed Honolulu lease along with my military ID and driver's license to prove that I live here. Despite that, they still refused to honor the pass. I wasn't looking for a free workout. I already pay for another gym membership. I simply wanted to experience the facility before deciding whether it was worth joining. The entire interaction left me feeling like making a sale was more important than building trust with a potential long-term customer. It was especially disappointing because Honolulu has a large military community, and many of us relocate here without immediately having a Hawaii ID. A little flexibility and customer service would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience was enough for me to decide to take my business elsewhere. read more

Overall, the gym has great equipment, is clean, and offers plenty of space. However, heaven forbid you're a deployed Soldier. I went on a 9-month deployment and spoke with UFC Gym management beforehand to freeze my account. Per their policy, they could only freeze it for up to six months, after which I would need to call back and request another freeze. Six months into my deployment, I was frequently visiting bunkers, and needless to say, my UFC Gym membership was not at the forefront of my mind. After my 9 month deployment,  I returned to the island I discovered that I owed approximately $460 because the gym had resumed charging me after the initial freeze expired. By that point, four months had passed. I tried speaking with the current manager to work something out. An employee told me to pay half of the balance and that they would "work out" the other half. That never happened. It just doesn't sit well with me that if I had been killed during deployment, UFC Gym would have been perfectly willing to keep charging my account. Before I had this issue fully resolved, I was sent on orders for another three months. This time, I made every effort to coordinate beforehand. I emailed Tiffany, spoke with the front desk, and even called after I had left. I was confident everything had been taken care of. When I returned three months later, I found that my membership had been canceled because the account had been sent to collections. I owed another $450. The employee at the front desk told me that if I paid $200, they would waive the remaining balance. I agreed, only to be lectured afterward: "Don't wait until after you're gone to freeze your account." I smiled and replied, "I agree. That's why I tried to take care of it before I left." Great gym. Coach Jason is awesome! He is super welcoming, very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, friendly, and awesome at breaking down and explaining techniques and principles. He is very observant and goes above and beyond what most instructors do in terms of actively approaching individuals with helpful feedback, and is very patient with everyone. He's also hilarious and very laidback so he promotes a fun and welcoming environment. Him and his son Gage make sure everyone is taken care of and will pair higher belts with those that need help, and watch out for everyone so nobody gets hurt. We pay for one crazy faculty fee! For the gym to just stay nasty. Machines stay functional. But the restrooms and trash bins be overflowing. I don't see no staff cleaning at night, I left a clean paper towel crumpled up to see if they would remove it and it was still there next week. Men's bathroom smells like sweat, moisture, mold, piss and heat. Trash also always overflowing. Some Members no more respect too just trashing the place. Crazy kine cans and bottles everywhere. Feel like gotta work out in one Tyvek suit. If we paying for faculty fee, at least keep the place sanitized and clean. Come on UFC we know you guys gots the money. read more

Not my favorite gym, went a few times since moving to the east side. Parking is terrible. Sometimes finding parking took longer than my workouts. Staff is okay, but the cleanliness is bad. Machines worn out, the dumbbells have this thick layer of dead skin or something feels nasty. Men's restroom is filthy. The second you walk in it smells like body odor pee, and idk what else. I hold it in and just wait to go home to use restroom it's that bad. Switched to another gym and couldn't be happier. I liked UFC Waikele but this one is a health hazard. read more

The management is absolutely and utterly unprofessional and scammy. I know of 3 different people, 4 including myself that have been scammed out of money and lied to by staff. I was told I was paying a down payment of $200 for my membership months ago but what I was actually paying for was personal training sessions which I never requested and would have never bought. I have been requesting a refund for months which I was promised months ago by a manager which ended up quitting (I'm assuming because of the unprofessionalism) and have been downplayed and ignored time and time again. Oh and, The gym itself is crowded all the time and smells awful. It is not nearly, in a million years worth $40 a month lol. I first signed up with Juan, who made the process of snagging a deal pretty simple. He held the offer past its expiration date, which I definitely appreciated since I don't like the feeling of rushing a decision to commit to a gym long-term. Yes, parking is brutal. But, the gym is always open, and they have deals that kind of entice you to commit to a long-term plan, which I think is a win-win for both parties. The gym itself is large, and it goes back pretty far. The depth of the gym makes it a bit of a stretch to walk to and from the entrance to the back, but with its high ceilings, I do appreciate that it doesn't feel too claustrophobic. They have pretty much every machine, free weight, and other equipment you'll need, so no complaints there. I'd just say it could use a tidy up a bit more frequently. They just got new equipment in the past month and it shows. I didn't feel like I'd been walking into an older gym despite it being around for some time. There's also no funk or smell to the gym, although sometimes they could run the AC a bit more often as it gets stuffy easily. My recommendation is to never go during rush hour. If you can go at a time where there's fewer people, DO THIS for the sake of parking and having access to the equipment you need. All things considered, it's convenient for anyone around the Kaka'ako area to walk to it, but parking can be a nightmare. I'd recommend parking a few streets over if you don't want to deal with it. read more

I've been with UFC for 3 weeks or so now and it's been good. If you have flexibility in the day to work out (to avoid peak parking times) it'll work great. For onboarding, it was clear they are interested in people who actually consider fitness. I had a training session with Coach Jamie last week that was great. I don't have the budget for a trainer and when she offered an initial consultation I wanted to be transparent. She respected the honesty and still set up a date to meet. She spoke with me for 10-15 minutes to understand my foundation and where I needed help. We hit a work out I wasn't super comfortable doing on my own but after her instruction I feel more confident and comfortable at the gym. There's plenty of reviews on here that share management is manipulative or intimidating, but Jamie didn't give me any semblance of that at all. Honestly a big reason I will be continuing my membership. My experience has been solid thus far. 4 stars cause the water bottle refill stations are faulty/broken. I am 84 years old and there are a lot of young people but every time I go they welcome me. They always open any doors for me I am on a walker. My couch, Jean is amazing! She knows exactly how to help me. I have become so much stronger since she has been helping me. When I am on some of the equipment if I need help...I don't have to ask, they just come and help me. The staff is always ao happy and loving. I feel so welcome there. And the equipment is also amazing. Their treadmills are so easy to use. I love it! read more
