This community center located in the heart of Brattleboro is open to the public daily and provides a great space for community events. Every year the night before Strolling of the Heifers this building hustles and bustles with vendors providing free samples of their homemade or locally made products. This year we tried out some incredible ciders here as well as some delicious callah. The other great thing about this center is that the public can also rent it out. We have seen a few weddings held here and the last time we walked by there was a farmers market being held to support impoverished families in the area. Overall, this building is a community/welcome center by day but it turns into a variety of incredible cultural and community event spaces.

From the moment you walk in you are treated with warm hospitality by the owners Judy & Phil along with their staff. Something that stands out is the staff have been the same, which speaks for the owners. I can't say enough about how friendly, accommodating, and welcoming, everyone. We stayed in the main building, in rooms 17, 15, 12 & 14 all have cozy accommodations that are spacious and very clean. Room 15 was a two-room suite with a gas fireplace that we enjoyed in the evening. Room 14 also has a gas fireplaced that we enjoyed. Our favorite room is 12 on the first floor with a private balcony. All the rooms have very comfortable beds, and each room has a small refrigerator. Each of these rooms all had a view of the mountains in the background. Breakfast is included and is served in the lovely dining room. Thersa is very friendly and always ensures we have everything. Breakfast starts with fresh baked muffins and fruit. There is always a selection for breakfast from eggs, omelets and either French toast, waffles or pancakes. I have enjoyed different omelets, the Cinnamon French toast, waffles w/strawberries and blueberry pancakes served with warm maple syrup that comes from a local farm. In the afternoon you can relax by the fireplace in the parlor and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a variety of fresh baked cookies that are set up for your enjoyment. I highly recommend having dinner in the dining room that is right on the premises at least one night during your stay. The chef prepares great meals, and the menu has a very nice selection. Service has always been exceptional. There is a nice selection of wine, beer and specialty cocktails to choose from. I would highly recommend taking a ride to the "Vermont Country Store" during your stay. The store brought us back to our childhood with the nostalgic toys, rows of penny candy and the original tins of "Charlie chips and much more! That completely false advertising. They advertise it as an entertainment place however that consisted of a 2 woman group singing silly folk music on a tiny stage right next to the road . Also show a large Amphitheater in on line ads but that area is fenced off overgrown looks like hasn't been used in 20 years. On line shows a nice mini golf course in reality is a run down tiny cracked up area not taken care of for years. Very misleading advertisement using pictures that have to be 20 years old. We stayed on Memorial day weekend and absolutely no activities at all on a holiday weekend. Pool was being filled the day we arrived which was Friday before Memorial day my guess is a financial reason to wait for last minute to fill pool. On line store looks large and filled with stuff but it's tiny and pretty much empty. The positives would be our site was nice and although nothing going on place was clean. I can't think of any reason to return.

They even threaten to charge a huge fee if you smoke in your room, while the filthy housekeepers are on the street smoking every 5 minutes. Our first room hadn't even been cleaned yet. We were given a free upgrade and while the towels and sheets looked fresh- the bathroom and rest of the furniture in the bedroom hadn't been cleaned in what looks like ages. The bathroom still had dirt and popcorn on the floor. The nightstands and refrigerator had visible dust everywhere. The bathtub is peeling and can't be used. The carpet is so disgusting we didn't take our shoes off. Gross place. Too bad- nice idea. Old is ok, but clean it.

Hotel is in a great location and in a cool deco style old theater building. The room had a record player that was a nice touch. Unfortunately we found it to be quite dirty especially the floors and windows. It felt a bit like a prison cell to be honest. Very loud with doors slamming in the hallway. The bathroom definitely needs an update despite being billed as authentic and vintage. For the money I can't recommend staying here. Maybe the other rooms are nicer b/c we were in a pet-friendly room, but we're not heading back.

I…read moretook six kids there this Saturday, and it was completely painless to check them all in, and get their rental packages set up. It was absurdly easy, and took maybe 5 minutes total. The kids played ALL day and had an absolute blast. Paint wasn't cheap, but that's to be expected. Rental + 500 rounds was $50. In theory, 500 rounds should have lasted a few hours, but these kids hadn't played paintball before, so they were paint firehoses. Altogether we bought 8,000 rounds for 6 kids for 9am-4pm, which came to $272. We probably should have only needed about half of that, but kids will be kids. I think the standard math is 150 balls per hour in woodsball. 150*7=1,050. They got 500 with the rental. So we should have only needed about 4,000. Just know it can get really expensive, if you're not careful. Also, you have to pay attention to the hours. It says they open at 8am, but games don't start at 8am. They don't start until 9am. It's marked on their website, but easy to miss. I felt like it was (or could have been, anyway) a pretty good value, and the kids loved it.
