I've been going to the Keg all of my life. I've visited various locations in various provinces. The Keg specializes in steaks but they offer other meal types including vegetarian options. What I enjoy about the Keg is their consistent quality. They've always got my steak cooked the way I like, the taste is always good. They change up their menu once and a while to include new unique additions. This location on Hunt Club road is my favorite in the Ottawa region because of the accessible parking. One thing I had an issue with is that it felt like we were sitting under a cold air conditioner and I felt a cold breeze on us even though it was the middle of winter. It was only a mild annoyance. I came here for my birthday. I had keg once before, and it was take out. I was not impressed with that experience. Could not give it a honest opinion. Since take out always come colder and less tasty. The waiter was super friendly. We had a lot talk about and he had to come back a few times because we didn't look at the menu. We finally decided to order the tuna tartare ($19) scallops, wrapped in bacon ($16) and neptune ($15). Everything tasted great but the size of the neptune and scallops... not really shareable size for a group of 4. For the steak I ordered rare. I usually do medium rare, but I read on the website that they recommended rare. My dish came with a good size wedge salad. Very tasty took mine with the blue cheese. My steak came with rare on one side and medium on the other. For the side dish I took the garlic mash potatoes. They do have a pretty decent selection to pick from. Vegetarian option, GF option more calorie wise option. Last but not least I got crème brûlée. Perfect way to end the meal. Overall It was a good experience. read more

For the last 5 years we have been going to The keg in Stittsville, Ontario for Christmas Eve. We have always enjoyed it. It was never disappointing. This year. We were looking forward to our dinner and we made our order and when they served us they forgot parts of our order for two out of three of the customers. My son ordered a steak. Oscar with mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. They forgot his Oscar shrimp and scallops his Yorkshire pudding and his mashed potatoes which he had to send the waiter back for each on my plate. They forgot my Yorkshire pudding. We were very very disappointed this year and it's unfortunate because we love going to The keg next year we have decided to try somewhere else read more

In town for work, and dropped in for a french onion soup, and top sirloin steak. Close to Rideau Centre and Byward Market. Soup was too salty, could be a lot more cheese on top, 4 pieces of very firm uneditable bread inside. Lots of onions though. Free fresh bread and 3 cheese spread was excellent as always! You gotta order steak, whether its Prime rib, top sirloin, baseball or new york! I ordered the top sirloin meal, Twice baked potato was small (about 4" in size), 8oz top sirloin was perfectly cooked to medium rare! With a few beans and 4 pieces of hard carrots. It's been a while since I last came here and it's as satisfying as I remember it! I made sure we have reservations because it gets really busy, if you don't have reservations chances are you're going to wait a while before you get a table. Once you enter, you are greeted by their friendly staff, then we were seated. Started off with their delicious hot bread and flavorful melt in the mouth butter, then a calamari platter which was so tender and delicious. For main I had sirloin steak & lobster with garlic mashed potatoes, beet root and pees, and filet mignon with fries. Both steaks were spot on! We had a small get together with a couple of friends over the holidays and we decided to Hit up the "KehhhhhhhG" hihi notice how I spelled it ..literally everyone who's been to this place says it that way xD First off, the place never disappoints! The hostesses and waiters are super friendly and always happy to serve you! Come to think of it, I never really had a bad experience at the Keg super happy! Parking is easy lots of free spots as it's located in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. Food: I had the cauliflower mash , the wedge salad , and a bit of the Caesar I totally stole my husbands dish ok not the entire dish like maybe half lol It was amazing! However, My roasted cauliflower dish was mediocre was a bit sad unfortunately:/ there was not much on my plate as I didn't want the couscous ... We walked in at 5:30pm without a reservation and was told we'd have to wait for the bar which is first come first serve. We waited for about 15-20 minutes and then the hostess seated us. Bryan was awesome! Visited to have a spontaneous date night, and came in close to 9pm, seated promptly, and served immediately. To my surprise, they still had prime rib at this hour, was super happy about that! Bryan was our server, he checked in on us all the time (but not too many times, always just at the right time, and only when he needed to.) Food was amazing, just wish they hadn't run out of the Milner pie, this is unheard of! The tuna tartare and crispy cauliflower are our favourite apps and I had forgotten just how good they are! The bone in rib steak with double baked potato was everything I could ask for. The rib steak tends to be a bit over cooked so my partner ordered it medium rare and it was served as a medium. The steak was seasoned and perfectly charred. Double baked potatoes at the keg are a must. I love the billy miner pie but we were too full for dessert this time! Great service and steak! One of the few restaurants around here that knows how to cook a striploin medium - hot and pink in the centre (most places undercook it and I have to send it back). The service is attentive and polite without being annoying. Water and bread is provided. The only negative is it gets very busy every night here and there is always a wait unless you're there before doors open or very late evening. But that's hardly their fault for being so popular. At first glance the menu seems expensive until you realize everything on one side of the page comes with a salad. If you don't want salad there is another section with the steaks priced individually, and there are sizes to suit any appetite (6oz, 8oz, 12oz). We went there with the whole family and for what they advertise to be, "steak house" , they deliver quite well. I tried the prime rib and the strip loin peppercorn steak. I think the medium was more well done than medium but only slightly. Theres plenty of options for sides, from mashed potatoes to cauliflower rice. After the main dish we got some ice cream cake which was amazing. The environment was a bit dark and that's my only issue. Service on the other hand was really professional. It's definitely pricey but compared to how everything else is these days, it's not even that bad. read more

Really great service tonight at The Keg. They don't take reservations on the weekend, so we showed up at 4:30 and got an awesome seat at a booth. Restaurant was filling up quickly and by 6:00 the lobby was full. We started with the fried cauliflower, and you seriously cannot go wrong with that. It was lightly battered and glazed with a hoisen/ginger type sauce. The hubby got the teriyaki steak and the double baked potato. He gave it two thumbs up. Parmesan crusted halibut was good, and it came with cauliflower mash and blistered tomatoes. It was one of the lower calorie options on the menu (640ish calories for the dish). Prices can be a little steep, but it was a nice evening out, and our waiter was amazing and checked in at the right times. We were going to finish with our meals with the billy miner pie that everyone raves about, but hello diet life, but its on my list for next time :) read more

As a vegan, I personally would not recommend the keg. I have eaten there in the past (before going vegan, more than 7yrs ago) and the service was good, but loud and busy atmosphere. Always a great choice! After a two and a half weeks of lockdown, Ottawa went into the orange zone where we can finally dine in under strict capacity rules. Was it worth it? Well we splurged a bit because we just wanted to have some normalcy. Service was great and we can tell that all the employees were eager to help out. We had forgotten how it felt to be in a restaurant or the taste of say their dessert fav, Billy Miner Pie. The atmosphere, the décor and just being out...well it was refreshing... Vegetarian warning! ;). Yes - I came here with a group of carnivores but was pleased with their veg menu choices and accommodations. I wasn't feeling like either of their veg entree options so I asked them to please make me an entree of veg gnocchi (normally a side) and crispy cauliflower (normally an appy), which the server did without batting an eye, much appreciated that he didn't make a big deal about it or draw attention to it. What was this desert called? (See photo I posted). Billy Minor something... Could have been called "Mile High" IMO - it was HUGE! And just the perfect meltiness for the icecream not to be too hard. It was delicious!! But I digress; let's not start by discussing the desert ;-) (But save room - I would recommend this one!) Last night, we met friends from out of town for dinner at this location of The Keg. We in Ottawa are fortunate to have 3 Kegs (the others being The Keg Manor on Richmond Road in Wesboro, and one downtown on York St.) As a result, I don't come to this one all that often; I've only ever been here once before. It's right next door to my favourite radio station: DAWG FM! This Keg has a different atmosphere... To me, it felt like a Milestones, or Moxy's. It may be that this Keg is targeting a younger audience than the Manor. It's the layout, the dark wood, it's classy in here! The Keg Manor is also classy, but in a different, more mature way. I love them both. Here's one example of why I feel this place would be attractive to younger people: As you enter, you are met by greeters who are all attractive, they all wear black and sometimes a bit revealing clothing. To the left of the entry is the bar to your right, and running along the centre is a long and narrow counter with lots of high stools surrounding it. These stools were at an angle to invite you to sit. Something about the look of this made me think right away that it would be ideal for speed-dating events! Around the bar and this... counter... are the restaurant booths in a raised area all around the bar. LOTS of seating here! I imagine this place could get quite busy!! Lots of room for people. We all ended up ordering steaks. The Keg really knows how to do a steak! And they offer them several different ways: two different sizes; with salad; with a baked potato or garlic mashed. And it comes with some green beans and roasted peppers. My meal was delicious! And we shared a bottle of red (the cheapest one on the menu was, I believe, Jackson Triggs - cheaper to share the bottle than to buy a glass at $7 or $9) Personally, I love their baked potatoes. I got the toppings on the side. Really, the meal was perfectly delicious! The only thing I did not appreciate was when one of the servers brought some of the food out, she left a lingering scent... She had so much perfume on, that we had to wait a few minutes to recover our tastebuds. On the upside, the washrooms are really classy! the booths feel pretty private. I've posted a picture of the ladies room (unoccupied). Can't help myself! Inviting washrooms DO matter!! It's "A Thing" for me. We met at 6:00, and suddenly it was 8:30. Where did the time go?! Not my first visit to Keg, but first at this Ottawa location. They were very busy for a Wednesday night. We waited about 7-8 mins for a table and once seated we were promptly greeted by Tristen. She was fantastic, full of energy and very knowledgeable about their menu. Off her suggestion I selected the Prime Rib and was not disappointed. Yes yes yes yes yes. This is our date night place every time. Fillet mignon and the Béarnaise sauce are to die for. Their fresh veggies are delicious with the twice baked potato. We think it's best to purchase the bottle of wine as opposed to by the glass. Makes for a nicer more personal meal. The Hunt club, Ottawa location is our favourite. We know this Keg well, and while our next reservation is not until next weekend, I just encountered amazing customer service that I would like to share. Scotia is fabulous. It's my Mom's 80th birthday coming up, it's her favorite restaurant, we have a large group, and the restaurant is extremely busy. Scotia took the time to reconfirm large parties for the time we were hoping for and managed to get our family booked. It's such a special day and Mom is thrilled. I am going to rave prematurely as I know the meal will be impeccable as always. I can't thank Scotia enough. I felt as though she really cared. The Keg seems to be an over all amazing place to eat. They have a simple menu but they do I right. This particular location has fantastic service and food. The place is always clean and the staff is friendly. The drinks are expensive but you can always get away with 1 or 2 before dinner! The bread they serve you is to die for!!! The best fresh baked bread I've had in a long time. The bread and butter alone are worth the trip. I had the tuna tartare appetizer. I can say that this could easily be a meal on its own. It was delicious and fresh. Also, very filling. My husband had the French onion soup, I had a small taste and I can say it passed the test! Next I had the pistachio encrusted salmon. The fish was perfectly cooked and the remainder of the dish was perfect! We ended with the ice cream pie and a mini creme brule. I will say the pie was amazing and totally shareable. The mini creme brûle was TINY!!! I mean a tablespoon worth of crème brûle. For $4, I'd say that was the ONLY thing not worth it on the menu. Taste wise it was amazing though. I enjoyed the ambiance a lot-dim lighting and warm air. It's a great place for a date! I came here with my boy, and we had a great chat over dinner. We came at 4:30, right when the restaurant opened. There were actually a couple of people waiting outside for it to open up as well. I know they changed up the menu and added a greater variety, which is good to know because it shows that they listen and care about their customers requests and needs! At first, I was a little hesitant because I'm not a huge fan of steak, so I got an order of French onion soup and baked garlic shrimp instead. They were very good!! I didn't expect the shrimp to be covered with cheese and baked, but it was and made the shrimp very tasty, flavorful, garlicky, and juicy! The only negative thing was that the waiter would disappear and come back like 15 min later, but it was around prime time dinner time.
