In town for work, and dropped in for a french onion soup, and top sirloin steak. Close to Rideau Centre and Byward Market. Soup was too salty, could be a lot more cheese on top, 4 pieces of very firm uneditable bread inside. Lots of onions though. Free fresh bread and 3 cheese spread was excellent as always! You gotta order steak, whether its Prime rib, top sirloin, baseball or new york! I ordered the top sirloin meal, Twice baked potato was small (about 4" in size), 8oz top sirloin was perfectly cooked to medium rare! With a few beans and 4 pieces of hard carrots. Paid street parking but free after 5:30pm M-F.

It's been a while since I last came here and it's as satisfying as I remember it! I made sure we have reservations because it gets really busy, if you don't have reservations chances are you're going to wait a while before you get a table. Once you enter, you are greeted by their friendly staff, then we were seated. Started off with their delicious hot bread and flavorful melt in the mouth butter, then a calamari platter which was so tender and delicious. For main I had sirloin steak & lobster with garlic mashed potatoes, beet root and pees, and filet mignon with fries. Both steaks were spot on! A perfect meduim rare and the lobster was melting in my mouth! Scrumptious! Ended the evening with their amazing dark chocolate cake! The atmosphere & vibe was amazing, so Christmasy & jolly. Paid $151.42 plus tip. Lots of parking spaces available.

Food: Bone in strip loin was amazing cooked perfect lots of flavour It was a special limited time on the menu The asparagus however were bland and undercooked and the sauce was nasty I avoided it like the plague. Cauli mash was great needed seasoning cuz it was a bit bland Service: very nice guy super attentive very caring and passed to see us a few times Ambiance: It's the KEG !!! It's super cozy and always consistant with their service and food as well Definitely recommend

We had a small get together with a couple of friends over the holidays and we decided to Hit up the "KehhhhhhhG" hihi notice how I spelled it ..literally everyone who's been to this place says it that way xD First off, the place never disappoints! The hostesses and waiters are super friendly and always happy to serve you! Come to think of it, I never really had a bad experience at the Keg super happy! Parking is easy lots of free spots as it's located in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. Food: I had the cauliflower mash , the wedge salad , and a bit of the Caesar I totally stole my husbands dish ok not the entire dish like maybe half lol It was amazing! However, My roasted cauliflower dish was mediocre was a bit sad unfortunately:/ there was not much on my plate as I didn't want the couscous ... I thought they would serve me the entire roast of Cauli but that's alright I'll know for next time! The wings are great and french onion soup was very thick and filling ! Drinks were flowing they make killer Amaretto Sours definitely worth it Overall, very nice cozy and friendly place Totally recommend

Overall, the food was good. Busy since it was valentines but we booked ahead. Great service! We had a great night.

We walked in at 5:30pm without a reservation and was told we'd have to wait for the bar which is first come first serve. We waited for about 15-20 minutes and then the hostess seated us. The bartender was very nice and efficient. We ordered Prime Rib, field green salad, French onion soup, and Garlic Shrimp. It was good and the fresh, hot bread was yummy.

Bryan was awesome! Visited to have a spontaneous date night, and came in close to 9pm, seated promptly, and served immediately. To my surprise, they still had prime rib at this hour, was super happy about that! Bryan was our server, he checked in on us all the time (but not too many times, always just at the right time, and only when he needed to.) Food was amazing, just wish they hadn't run out of the Milner pie, this is unheard of! Will definitely return, this has to be my favourite visit to The Keg out of all the locations I've visited.

The tuna tartare and crispy cauliflower are our favourite apps and I had forgotten just how good they are! The bone in rib steak with double baked potato was everything I could ask for. The rib steak tends to be a bit over cooked so my partner ordered it medium rare and it was served as a medium. The steak was seasoned and perfectly charred. Double baked potatoes at the keg are a must. I love the billy miner pie but we were too full for dessert this time! Service was wonderful, our server discussed tequilas with us and was very personable.

Got the cheese bread and the lobster bisque soup and both were amazing!!! We didn't realize the steak is wrapped with bacon (don't believe it was the last couple times we came but I wonder if it was mentioned and we requested it not be there).

Great service and steak! One of the few restaurants around here that knows how to cook a striploin medium - hot and pink in the centre (most places undercook it and I have to send it back). The service is attentive and polite without being annoying. Water and bread is provided. The only negative is it gets very busy every night here and there is always a wait unless you're there before doors open or very late evening. But that's hardly their fault for being so popular. At first glance the menu seems expensive until you realize everything on one side of the page comes with a salad. If you don't want salad there is another section with the steaks priced individually, and there are sizes to suit any appetite (6oz, 8oz, 12oz). The baked potatoes are excellent too (both the twice baked and regular kinds).

Really great service tonight at The Keg. They don't take reservations on the weekend, so we showed up at 4:30 and got an awesome seat at a booth. Restaurant was filling up quickly and by 6:00 the lobby was full. We started with the fried cauliflower, and you seriously cannot go wrong with that. It was lightly battered and glazed with a hoisen/ginger type sauce. The hubby got the teriyaki steak and the double baked potato. He gave it two thumbs up. Parmesan crusted halibut was good, and it came with cauliflower mash and blistered tomatoes. It was one of the lower calorie options on the menu (640ish calories for the dish). Prices can be a little steep, but it was a nice evening out, and our waiter was amazing and checked in at the right times. We were going to finish with our meals with the billy miner pie that everyone raves about, but hello diet life, but its on my list for next time :)

I wanted a smaller piece, so the person working cut me a smaller piece from the big piece of beef. The beef itself was aged well, but could have been more tender. I'm not in a hurry to try it again (I felt Saslove's meat quality was much more tender), but as for the beef's flavour, it was more pronounced. They also have a bone broth station, which I tried. I got the beef broth (more expensive to make than chicken), and added seaweed, scallions, and salt/pepper (to taste; I like that the broth doesn't have salt already)! Drumroll please... Riviera -- Wow…read more This is what I'm talking about. Sexy. Sophisticated. Huge ceilings. Gorgeous bar. And a Negroni list with ten different versions. Don't miss Riviera when you're in Ottawa. We arrived an hour early before our third dinner guest joined us, so we started with a drink and a small appetizer. After several of my jokes fell flat, I told the waitress to just pick a Negroni for me based on what she'd heard from me so far. She nailed it. It was a slightly sweeter Negroni than the traditional one, with a hint of rosemary. We shared a dynamite tartare to start. Our buddy arrives and, without even looking at the menu, says: "You have to try a Negroni here -- they clearly know what they're doing." So I went for a second one -- this time a classic. Perfect. Next up: the seafood tower. Honestly, it felt like it had just come out of the sea. Razor clams, tuna belly tartare/ceviche on a mini salad leaf that was outstanding, plus lobster and crab claws that were spot on. A fabulous start. There were three of us, so we shared a steak with fries and a beautiful au jus, perfect gnocchi, and a salad with chicory, little nuts of some kind, and tons of shaved cheese -- Parmesan-ish. I can't remember exactly what it was because I'm writing this the morning after... and there may have been a few more wines involved. We finished by sharing a pavlova with passion fruit -- three spoons. I almost hate to admit this... but it was better than anything I've had in Toronto in years. Everything felt fresh, almost farm-to-table. Light, lively, and just a great vibe. In my opinion, Riviera is the perfect restaurant. Oh, and I added our waitress to my newsletter list because she wanted to try an excellent Polish water called Perlage that I think the restaurant should carry. Riviera -- if I could give you a 10 out of 10, I would. Actually... you know what? You're a 10.

The Long Version: My husband and I stopped by Al's Steakhouse for Happy Hour. Their Happy Hour is Monday to Friday 3pm-6pm and only available on their front patio or lounge, not their main dining room. We sat in the lounge. I got the feature cocktail ($8) which happened to be a Peach Bellini that day. My husband got the Al's Lager ($6.50). We shared the Calamari ($10) and Sliders ($13). My Peach Bellini was delicious and was served with a slice of dehydrated orange and a paper straw. The hubster thought the lager was ok. The sliders were excellent. There were 3 sliders and they were a good size. The bun was a plain brioche bun and was lightly toasted. The beef patty was flavourful. It came with cheese, pickles and burger sauce. I would get these again. The Calamari were good, although not particularly unique in taste. They were battered and tender, not chewy. They came with seafood sauce. Service was courteous, although the server came back twice to verify our order, lol. Our order was correct in the end, so no big deal. The restaurant ambiance is poshy but not pretentious. Their regular-priced menu is on the expensive side, but their Happy Hour deals are awesome. I will definitely be returning for more Happy Hour adventures here. Street parking only. Dinner: mushroom ravioli...not good at all, I wanted to send it back too, but since I had already sent back my appetizer, I was too embarrassed! But it truly was awful. Very little ravioli and you actually could not find the pasta squares under the slippery shitake mushrooms, the tremendous amount of oil and butter, the cream sauce was so overly done and sickenly rich. Why add so much to a what should be a simple pasta? I had a couple of bites and then boxed and brought home.....picture of all the toppings, too much, and look at that oil and butter! Still couldn't eat it. I should have known better; I went to a steakhouse and ordered pasta. You should always go with the specialty.... lesson learned. By this, I mean you show up as a solo diner and they treat you like you are not worth their time. It took me almost an hour just to park. This is a very busy shopping/dining centre, which I didn't mind, but the parking garage was packed, hard to find a spot. But I did it. Went up to the restaurant. There were four groups waiting...I counted them as I went in. Many empty tables. This was the classic case of a bunch of people standing around at the front like deer in headlights. They ignored me and two of the three walked off before anyone even acknowledged me. Finally, the young lady with dark hair wearing a green cardigan spoke to me. I was a waitress in college many years. Some of this generation (not the amazing restaurant I went to after) wouldn't know customer service if it slapped them in the face. She asked how many and as soon as I said, "Just one," she screwed up her nose and made a face and totally wrote me off. I got the copout: I can seat you at the bar. I explained I have RA and those stools are torture for me (also twisted my knee and the bar stool at Prohibition the night before was so painful I had to move). She said I could eat outside. It was 83 degrees. I told her it was too hot. She said there was a 2.5 hour wait. Bullshit. I've worked in restaurants, eaten at MANY. Four groups waiting? She just wrote me off. Too bad for you.
